Well, this post is driving-related, so it seems like the perfect opportunity for the Traffic Jammer to wish all Claycordians, especially the Mayor, the merriest of Christmases and the Happiest of New Years! It’s been a wonderful year answering your questions, getting expert information from the many smart people who read the column, and especially, enjoying your wit. Huge thanks to the Mayor for giving me the opportunity to do this. I look forward to rolling along on the Bay Area’s highways, byways and public transit with you all in the new year.

huh…. this new approach takes the approach of showing you the horror of how you may be personally inconvenienced if you get arrested for DUI. That’s not the point. I prefer the “Red Asphalt” approach.

Do shed more light on that story, please ….

There was an at least four-car wreck on 880N before Fifth Ave at about 1630. It closed three out of four lanes, and it was pelting down rain just faster than my jalopy’s de-fog works, so I had the side window down. Big thanks to the family man in the white Caravan who tried to keep me from merging to get around it. I’ve needed to bellow at someone about something for like a week now. Your whole family looked pretty damn impressed at your behavior and my vocabulary. I bet that was a long ride home with the inlaws.

We also need to stop people from commenting while intoxicated… :-)

We love you, Janis Mara. Merry Christmas. Take care. Happy Holidays.

Amen Connie Dobbs! Just love people like that..NOT!! Like it is really going to hurt them to let you move over and out of the way and get some of the traffic moving again. Hope they got a bunch of coal for Christmas

How many are killed by smoking??
An estimated 449,000 according to the CDC… and yet the majority of California, Colorado, and Washington State are okay with smoking marijuana? Totally illogical.

How many die from obesity?
An estimated 300,000 according to the NIH. How about banning spoons and forks since they convey the food that makes people fat.

12 O WOW December 25, 2012 at 9:58 PM

Yeah don’t drink and drive,You might spill your drink:)

13 Don't Censor Me Bro December 26, 2012 at 5:00 AM

@Triple Canopy #11 — don’t forget to cite the number of people killed by abortion…1.2 million (2011)…

14 B December 26, 2012 at 7:44 AM

@Triple Canopy

Cigarettes and Marijuana are completley different from one another, comparing the two is illogical… Try again

15 heshkid December 26, 2012 at 9:07 AM

Wow smoking weed doesn’t kill you. It stops the production of cancer cells that tobacco has caused.

16 Triple Canopy December 26, 2012 at 9:33 AM

@14.. smoking is smoking. Get a clue pea-brain.

17 B December 26, 2012 at 11:23 AM

@Triple Canopy

Obviously you’re the one that needs the clue… Not 1 bit of research was put into your response (“smoking is smoking”)! Good one! Oh, and be sure to call me some other silly childish name when responding to my post,, because you’re obviously frustrated at being called out on your flawed, lazy posts…

18 Always Right December 26, 2012 at 2:03 PM

I agree wih Triple Canopy. Get people smoking as much Marijuana as they do cigarettes and you will have similar death rates. Smoking is smoking. It can KILL you.

19 Screwy Louie December 26, 2012 at 2:03 PM

Hey Triple Clueless @14
Engage brain prior to opening mouth (Typing).
Find us ONE death linked to smoking pot.
Yea…didn’t think so.

20 tipsy December 26, 2012 at 7:45 PM

@16 Triple Canopy saying smoking is smoking is like saying eating is eating. Marijuana and tobacco are apples and oranges. As far as the physical act of smoking, the biggest difference is that with one “cigarette”, marijuana can keep you very drugged for a whole day. One has to smoke about forty tobacco cigarettes to get that kind of coverage. There’s a WHOLE lot more smoking going on when one uses tobacco. @18 Always Right… your premise is probably correct, but people will never smoke as much marijuana as they do tobacco, just like scotch drinkers will never drink as much liquid as Bud Lite drinkers.

concord and east bay cab service in general needs an overhaul. it’s horrible. you never know what you’ll be charged, if the cab will show up, etc.
