A 29-year-old Richmond man, identified as Eugene Markell Drake, was arrested on Friday night in connection with an armed robbery at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on Contra Costa Boulevard just before 9pm.

Pleasant Hill Police tell Claycord.com the suspect entered KFC and confronted the employees with a handgun, demanding cash.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police say he fled the business on foot.

Officers arrived on scene and spotted the suspect near the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Golf Club Road (near Wells Fargo).

Police say the suspect briefly tried to run but was ultimately detained at gun point by Officers from the Pleasant Hill Police Department.

A loaded handgun was found in his possession as well as cash from KFC, according to police.

Claycord’s dumbest criminal!! What idiot stays near the scene of the crime?

6 Maybe October 6, 2012 at 12:34 AM

Perhaps he wasn’t able to “blend in” with the locals and was easy to spot.

7 Colonel Sanders October 6, 2012 at 12:53 AM

This story didn’t happen. The person who reported it is against Obama and therefore it is not true.

9 Bill Goodwin October 6, 2012 at 3:06 AM

Do people really come from other communities to rob us?? No Way!! We should have plenty of criminals right here in Claycord to do the job..!! Come on slackers!!

10 Chris October 6, 2012 at 3:25 AM

11 Maggot waved his gun around in KFC October 6, 2012 at 3:42 AM

12 Sinn Feiner October 6, 2012 at 4:46 AM

21 funny man October 6, 2012 at 8:16 AM

he was just tryin to afford gas money back to richmond!

22 Bravo! October 6, 2012 at 8:18 AM

Only thing that would have been better is if he would have pointed his gun at the cops so they could have eliminated this POS from society. Now he’ll get maybe 2 yrs state prison and released to procreate more vermin while victimizing someone else in the future. But, that’s what liberalism has created.

Good job PHPD.

23 @Bravo ! October 6, 2012 at 8:50 AM

Well said.

24 Parsnip October 6, 2012 at 8:58 AM

@Chocolate kitti #5

You’d be surprised. We had a dummy years back who robbed our office then stood about 200′ away waiting for a bus. _|-O-S-E-R!

Well-done, Pleasant Hill Police! Every time you catch one of these scums, it makes my day.

Thank you PHPD for keeping us all safe and doing a wonderful job! Great job !!!!!

28 Howard K Mullins III October 6, 2012 at 9:54 AM

Sinn Feiner is right. How quickly will this bum be back on the street and how soon will he be armed again? My guess is that by the time of my post, he is out and rearmed.

What will he rob next? Who may be injured by his reckless weapon handling? When will he try to shoot the police and end up dead with his mother screaming about his innocents?

When will the public decide to put an end to this revolving door criminal activity and decide to keep criminals detained? That guy in AZ has the right idea. Keep them in tents, feed them hot dogs and keep them off the streets.

29 justice October 6, 2012 at 10:38 AM

hell yeah!

30 George October 6, 2012 at 11:14 AM

Article says he was spotted near the Wells Fargo. Maybe he did a withdrawal at KFC and was going to make a deposit at Wells.

31 Anonymous October 6, 2012 at 11:36 AM

He’ll get more time since he used a loaded gun when he robbed KFC. Great job PHPD!

32 Tone it down folks... October 6, 2012 at 1:45 PM

Just saying “tone it down”. Why?

Cause you may be selected for the JURY when he goes to trial. You are his “peer”…right?

Pick ME! Pick ME! for the JURY. I PROMISE that I’ll be impartial.

33 ctown October 6, 2012 at 1:58 PM

Good Job PHPD for catching this scum bag. I wonder how many Popeye’s chicken this person passed all the way from Richmond to come rob our fine KFC.

34 Rich C. October 6, 2012 at 2:29 PM

35 dilligafman October 6, 2012 at 2:35 PM

PHPD should of fired a warning shot-into the base of his skull!!!

36 Jay October 6, 2012 at 3:35 PM

Good job phpd. There is a lot of trauma associated with killing even a bad guy. Lots of second guessing, etc. Wouldn’t wish it on any cop.

37 WC Resident-Callie October 6, 2012 at 4:15 PM

Touchdown!!!

38 Jerk October 6, 2012 at 4:51 PM

KFC Original recipe chicken became as tough as beef jerky when they stopped pressure cooking it.
Probably because it was too dangerous, not really – But certain employees couldn’t grasp the concept of letting off the pressure before opening.

39 Lori October 6, 2012 at 7:52 PM

I agree with Jay @38 Great job PHPD.

40 go A's October 6, 2012 at 8:07 PM

According to the recent job report, this guy would be counted as one of the few people in America who found a “job” and is no longer “unemployed”.

41 Darwin October 6, 2012 at 10:41 PM

Grace any relationship to Casey or Cliff??

42 Bunny October 6, 2012 at 11:44 PM

Thank you PHPD. Great work . This guy is a danger to all of us. Wonder if he’s the same guy who robbed the Taco Bell on Monument And Virginia Lane. They close earlier now. We don’t need dopes from other towns coming here. We have enough of our own. Glad he was stopped.

43 ab109 October 7, 2012 at 12:01 AM
