Shots Fired in North Concord – Police Checking House Near Garden Ave. & Acacia

September 20, 2012 21:35 pm · 23 comments

Concord Police are checking a house after a shots fired call came in from several neighbors in the area of Garden Avenue and Acacia Drive, which is off Port Chicago Highway.

So far, no injuries have been reported, and police aren’t 100% sure where the shots came from, but they’re still investigating.

UPDATE: Police are saying the shots apparently came from a black SUV, possibly a Yukon. The suspects were Hispanic males. The SUV was last seen on Garden Avenue. Police are also saying they believe one person might have been shot in the leg, but the victim hasn’t been located.

To bunny…

More like – cant we, as citizens, fight back?

Guns are only a problem when in the wrong hands. Gun control only restricts those willing to abide by the laws. Its the gang banger that us the problem. No gun law on the books will deter these creeps. However, shooting back would deter them.

Per our freinds @ the City “We have no gang problem in Concord”……..Well………..Incumbent Helix please explain the recent rash of shootings????????????????????
Now is the time for the residence of Concord to start replacing the council. You have 2 seats to fill, so lets fill them with 2 new people who are not owned by the POA!!!!!!!!! As much as some of you are going to hate this we need to fill those seats with Mr Birsan and Mr Kumar

The Police were told about the SUV as soon as the first officer arrived on the scene. I can certainly understand why CPD did not pursue the vehicle, they needed to see about the people in the house first. I just wish they had brought in another patrol car to track the SUV.

Police procedures are correct in following a procedure that leads to protecting the neighbors first and following up on interviews later.

I am sure the SUV will be found, once the SOB’s who cowardly shoot at a house from a moving car, over some dumb thing, are going to do something dumb again soon.

I have to agree with Jeff. Guns are the problem only when in the hands of scum bags that refuse to follow the laws.

Its easy to take a gun away from and restrict gun usage for people who obey the laws.

Criminals obey no law.

We have to be able to protect ourselves from lawless scum. Bleeding hearts be damned.

So your telling us you think it’s ok to have a gun battle in the middle of the street? Um no!

16 biggus thinkus September 21, 2012 at 10:38 AM

Well, I live in this neighborhood, and I’d like to know which house had the issue. For all you North Concord bashers, there’s some really great neighborhoods and neat people. Yeah, there’s crappy areas too, but this area has been relatively calm for a while now. Anyone know which house had the Uncool party? Any neighbors step up and work with the police? Doesnt matter if the people are white, black, latin, asian. A-holes are A-holes and they dont discriminate, why should we? How about step up in your community and make it better?

Bienvenidos a Tiajuana poca!

I live down the street and see the bums hanging out before I go to work and when i come home. its does not feel safe with my kids having to be careful for getting shot when we walk to the park. I think that house is owned by the poor old lady that i see sitting in front or walking around the neighborhood. That house is an eyesore and those bum kids are causing the area to be unsafe for people with families. We need to come together as a community. What can we do?

I live in North Concord and yes on occasion we hear the gunshots, or the fireworks, and the bums hanging out by the 7/11 and the drunks who also hang out there, and it seems to me that the 7/11 draws all kinds of unwanted crowds. Close it down, close the gas station after 12 and you’ll see that neighborhood improve tremendously. The apt buildings next to that 7/11 will empty out soon because no disgustingly obese fat person will want to get into their car and go to safeway to buy their sugary sweet 4 digit calorie per serving snacks and drinks. Too big a parking lot… too big a store. They might just lose weight!!!

Not to mention, the beer drinking assholes who frequent this godforsaken 7/11 won’t get there at the crack of dawn 6 AM to get their morning cereal bubbly liquid.

Not to mention, the idiots who run/work the store won’t stare at us strange anymore. Especially that crosseyed guy.

Yes, get rid of this nuisance of a place. Put a bank branch! You’ll see that neighborhood clean up mighty quick!

Of course, i’m only talking about the West side of Pt Chicago. Us East siders… we have no issues. Of course, the lowlives are welcome to come to my doorstep. I know how to greet uninvited strangers.

@biggus thinkus 2nd house on the left from if you’re heading from Acacia. Yes the house where the lady sits on the porch. I heard the shots and hoped they were not shots…I turned out the lights and looked out the window. I saw a neighbor on Garden on her porch. I didn’t see a car. Concord Police knocked on my door about 10 PM wanting to know if I’d seen anything. You can still drive down Garden and see the skid marks on the curb and the broken glass on the street and sidewalk because no one has bothered to go out and clean up.

I went over to the George Miller Center on Grant Street a couple times this week and on one side of the block you have bums passed out on the patch of grass outside Bonfaire Gas/liquor on Salvio side. On the Olivera side you have the congregation of bums at Mattoe’s Dream. Seems like they are all over. Clayton rd. a real fat Shrek looking one by Starbucks downtown. I wouldn’t focus on North Concord.

@ Acacia Dr, thank you kindly, had a feeling. Certainly too close to home. See you around the neighborhood!
