PHOTOS: Double Fatal Collision Suspect Calls Himself “Race Fox” on Social Media

April 8, 2012 14:03 pm · 259 comments

The suspect police say was involved in Saturday’s double fatal collision in which a father & daughter were killed while riding their bikes on Treat Boulevard in Concord, calls himself “Race Fox” on social media.

The suspect, who his friends have identified as 17-year-old Concord resident & Olympic High School student David Rosen, has been arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter, and is currently in juvenile hall, according to police.

Witnesses tell that Rosen was speeding before the collision, which ended with the suspect crashing his white Cadillac Escalade into a building after he hit and killed the victims on Treat Boulevard near Oak Grove Road.

41-year-old Soliman Nuri died at the scene, and his daughter, 9-year-old Hadessa Nuri, died in the trauma center at John Muir in Walnut Creek. Nuri’s other daughter was injured, but she’s expected to survive.

On his Facebook account, Rosen made a chilling post on March 22, 2012 about a near fatal motorcycle collision that occurred in almost the same exact spot as the collision he allegedly caused on Saturday.

Also on his Facebook account, he talks about his newly purchased Cadillac Escalade and his mom getting struck by a drunk driver.

this seems sort of immature mayor :/

2 Just Me April 8, 2012 at 2:10 PM

What’s up with teens and using “Nigga” as slang? I’ve read it previously on several DeLaSalle football players facebook pages. Disguists me. Who is parenting these kids?????

3 role models April 8, 2012 at 2:10 PM

Its official; our teenagers are not worth the breath they draw. Good Lord, our streets are going to be crowded with morons in ten years…

4 Miggitymike April 8, 2012 at 2:11 PM

Sadly this little SOB won’t get anything near the punishment he deserves. His FB posts show you all you need to know about his character….worthless POS.

5 Rich C. April 8, 2012 at 2:11 PM

Looks like he should have had “dealer” plates on that vehicle…

6 S.T. April 8, 2012 at 2:13 PM

Want to take a guess that he was also an obnoxious bass-thumper? That whole speed & noise mindset is a bane of modern life.

7 suprehmdaddy April 8, 2012 at 2:14 PM

hes a kid who made a mistake that ruined countless lives including his own and his facebook is private so your an ass for posting things from it MR MAJOR

8 WTF April 8, 2012 at 2:15 PM

Looks like the Mayor is determined to convict this guy by public opinion long before he ever has a chance to have the unbiased FACTS heard in court.

9 John Matrix April 8, 2012 at 2:21 PM

I’m sorry, Mayor but posting that pic of the bike in front of the SUV is in really bad taste.
I know David took the picture and not you but it’s still pretty disgusting to post it in lieu of what happened.

10 S.C. April 8, 2012 at 2:22 PM

I think this post is distasteful and gossipy. I have no sympathy for the idiot kid but at the same time I don’t see how posting photos from his Facebook that are fairly irrelevant to the fatal accident help anyone in this scenario. All it does is show that he is a lowlife wannabe thug like we already assumed he was. This is unnecessary

11 Wow... April 8, 2012 at 2:25 PM

I really hope his facebook page is used against him. Probably bought the escalade with drug money. Such a shame that he has caused all of this. A lot of olympic kids have rough lives and seem to express themselves in unusual ways. I see these kids everyday. Some are nice but a lot are extremely disrespectful to people and property. My heart goes out to the nuris. I was at the scene about 5 min after it happened. It was terrible and so sad. I’m hoping david is tried as an adult. A person as reckless as himself shouldn’t be on the streets.

12 Miggitymike April 8, 2012 at 2:26 PM

Unfortunately this SOB won’t get what he deserved. You can tell his character by his FB posts, he has no concern for others and only himself. Disgusted that this POS destroyed this family….I hope he suffers.

13 CV Fresh April 8, 2012 at 2:27 PM

Mayor. Don’t you think it’s a little unethical to post these shots? His facebook is private for a reason. The kid got what he deserved. No reason to add fuel to the fire.

14 9 deuce daisy April 8, 2012 at 2:28 PM

Thanks for posting this, Mayor.

15 Lari April 8, 2012 at 2:28 PM

What a waste of protoplasm. Really want to see the parents who brought this loser into the world. I am sooooo tired of these Slim Shady types running around Claycord acting all gangsta. I’d like to see what would happen to them if they were dropped off in the Iron Triangle area of Oakland and started spouting “niggaaa” this and “niggaa” that. Why did good people have to die because of this turd? NO MERCY should be given to him or the family who “raised” him.

16 Agreed April 8, 2012 at 2:29 PM

Disappointed by this “news”. He’s a minor. This needs to be taken down.

17 role models April 8, 2012 at 2:32 PM

Its not distasteful. His facebook has only now been set to private. What ever you put out in the internet is there forever and fair game. Think before you post.

18 Miggitymike April 8, 2012 at 2:34 PM

Pretty sad people are concerned about this jerks “private fb page” and his rights when he just destroyed this family. Ripped it apart….imagine the damage done to the remaining family and the sister who went through it. You all should recognize the destruction he caused by being wreckless and selfish. I personally have no compassion for such wreck less and selfish behavior and think he should be punished to the maximum sentence allowed.

19 Student April 8, 2012 at 2:37 PM

Making judgements on his character and how he got the money to buy his car won’t change what he has done or what his sentence will be. Everyone hopes he will be sent to prison, but broadcasting his personal posts he made BEFORE any of this happened is distasteful, and taken out of context. If anyone is to post here, it should be in mourning of the victims and not criticizing his language or his parent’s parenting skills. This should be removed immediately, and hopefully replaced with a picture of the flowers piled on the side of the road in the victim’s honor. Please consider this, mayor.

20 Urka April 8, 2012 at 2:37 PM

I agree with WTF, Agreed and CV Fresh. Do the right thing mayor.

21 Killjoy April 8, 2012 at 2:39 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you put something out there on the internet, you can NOT expect it to remain private.
I tell my child all the time, if you put it out there, you can NEVER get it back.
David Rosen put it out there, it’s fair game.
If you don’t like it, make sure you don’t put any of your information out there on “social media”.

22 Jellis April 8, 2012 at 2:40 PM

Did he just get the car? Wonder if this is the person I report speeding twice WB on Treat, weaving in and out of lanes, and running red lights?

23 Anon80 April 8, 2012 at 2:42 PM

Not a bit surprised by this kids FB page. This seems to be the uniform/character of the average teenager. This kid looks like he has the depth of mud puddle. Wonder if he even cares or can wrap his mind around what he has done? Clearly his own mother being hit by a drunk driver and seeing an accident only weeks earlier at the same intersection didn’t give him any insight. It was only a matter of time till he killed himself or somebody else. We ride bikes at the same location all the time with our own kids who are close to the ages of the ones killed/injured. It really makes you think before taking your kids out on a bike ride.

24 Anon80 April 8, 2012 at 2:46 PM

That’s right Killjoy!! You are right!!

25 Juan Taboneya April 8, 2012 at 2:50 PM

If I took a loaded gun out and recklessly shot into a crowd is it just a harmless accident?

For those bleeding hearts calling for this post to be taken down..

This 17 year old willfully, recklessly drove a 2 ton vehicle in a way where he lost control an killed two people on “public roads”. So whatever he posted on the internet isnt private, neither is public disregard for life and limb.

Keep up with posting news Mayor. You are awesome.

26 Pinky April 8, 2012 at 2:50 PM

If he didn’t want his facebook posts being made public then he should have changed his privacy settings. That’s pretty common knowledge these days.

It’s very sad that a family had to be destroyed and two people needed to die in order for this guy (and hopefully his friends) to learn a major lesson: Slow down and have respect for the people you share the road with. Your bad or reckless decisions can have life-long consequences.

27 HAHAHAHA April 8, 2012 at 2:50 PM

Aw he paid for his own car? Lets see how much he has to pay now. Worthless POS kid, i cant WAIT till he is released. All my homies live in Concord and we will network around till we find out his adress, friends, location etc etc.

28 more stupidity April 8, 2012 at 2:52 PM

AD #19
You missed the point entirely in regard to “dealer” plates. It had nothing to do with actual plates on the vehicle, which is why it was typed in quotation marks (those are the two little marks before and after the word)

Take a deep breath and appreciate the pun.

29 CVIGIL April 8, 2012 at 2:55 PM

Completely random but there will be a candle light vigil tonight at 7 PM at the corner of Treat & Oak Grove in honor of the Nuri family .

30 Dave April 8, 2012 at 2:57 PM

Who cares about unethical or distasteful? It’s all about getting more hits and attracting more advertisements…

31 You people are idiots April 8, 2012 at 2:58 PM

WAH WAH WAH complain about the Mayor posting this kids name public. HE KILLED A 9 YEAR OLD GIRL GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS YOU 24/7 TELEVISION WATCHERS!!!!!

Since when is it bad to post a minor’s name (he’s 17 cmon not 13) but its not bad to kill little children???????? You people are sick. I hope the family of this kid rots in hell, and hope this kid is released soon so we can find him. If he killed my little sister……………………………………OMG

32 Sel April 8, 2012 at 2:58 PM

@real talk
You write like one of the defendant’s friends. You are correct, if we weren’t there, we don’t know what happened, though the reports seem consistent. Assuming the reports are correct and he was going 80 and texting, I couldn’t care less about what he has to live with. My sympathy is reserved for the people he killed and their family members. If he was speeding and texting, he is, in fact, a criminal and in my opinion the law is not harsh enough. He would have done at least two, if not more, intentional acts with reckless disregard for the lives of others, causing their deaths. I’d have no problem with a life sentence, at a minimum.

33 ClaycordAnon April 8, 2012 at 2:59 PM

Rosen is a major fool. He will get his and it wont be pretty.

34 UNKNOWN* April 8, 2012 at 3:02 PM

@Mayor u did the right thing by posting this. thank u

35 Anon April 8, 2012 at 3:03 PM

@ real talk
We do know what happened. He killed a man and his little girl and injured the man’s other little girl. I’m unclear about the whole “you weren’t there” argument…two people are dead and he did the killing. Nobody here needed to be in the car to know what happened. They’re dead, it is his fault. It wasn’t murder because it wasn’t premeditated, but it was still killing that he did. And if he is tried as an adult, and I imagine he will be otherwise the police would be doing a better job of protecting his identity, then being 17 doesn’t really mean anything, does it? If he’d taken out a fire hydrant then the Mayor probably wouldn’t post this, but he destroyed a family – why does he deserve protection?

36 Miss Diagnosis April 8, 2012 at 3:04 PM

I cant believe that claycord posted this. This blog has been dissappointing me lately

37 Amanda April 8, 2012 at 3:06 PM

I don’t understand why you are involving his personal life with this accident. These photos have nothing to do with the accident that happened. I hope you guys realize that it was an ACCIDENT. David didn’t intentionally kill those people. But now you’re bringing stuff that’s happened in the passed to this.. Doesn’t make sense. You guys are calling him a POS kid? You don’t even know him. David is one of my best friends and even though he made a wrong decision doesn’t make him worthless. You’re adults.. Grow the F*** up. Please. He already has enough consequences for going to Juvenal Hall, & having to live with the guilt of what he did. He has many fines too. David wasn’t a bad kid. He did smoke a little weed but that’s about it, You guys should really get your facts straight before you go posting on this website. You’re making yourself look like an ignorant fool. Everyone speeds, everyone makes mistakes. No one in this world is perfect. I just hope you all remember this when karma comes to bite you back in the ass for all these horrible things you guys are saying.

38 RanchgirlCA April 8, 2012 at 3:06 PM

WTH is a 17 year old doing with an Escalade? The way kids drive these days, you’d think they were living in the video games they play. Driving was a privilege when I was a teenager and I was raised to respect that privilege. My prayers for the family and friends of the victims.

39 Adam Henry April 8, 2012 at 3:06 PM

Ah ha ha ha, His “n*ggas* (their words) are on here posting. How sad, you can’t get a clue that Anything posted on the internet is NOT private, if you want private, do NOT post online.
No doubt more stuff will be surfacing, maybe some racing or sideshow videos.
Dis boy was Boss! :(

40 EvilEye April 8, 2012 at 3:07 PM

Why is everyone making his vehicle out to be some car that a teenager could never possibly afford or finance. The Escalate is 10 years old. Depending on mileage, it’s not worth more than 10K. Most likely not even worth that.

Mayor has every right to post this guys stuff. It was info available to the public. Not like he hacked into his computer or phone. He is still a kid. Kids make mistakes, just unfortunate that there we fatalities. Maybe some good can come from this. Maybe he set an example of what NOT to do for some kids.

wannabe gangsters. oh, middle class white kids…how you make me laugh.

@19: love how he wont discuss how he acquired the funds for his car unless hes face-to-face with the inquirer. surely, a sign of complete innocence!

@7: a mistake is what happens when you trip and spill a drink on someone. murder is what happens when youre a complete idiot with no regard for the rules put into place for a reason. hes not a “kid”–he wipes his own ass, doesnt he? supposedly he even bought that car himself using a mysterious method…which im sure is entirely squeaky clean, too. he looks like such a sweetie-pie, i just want to pinch his punk ass cheeks.
and, the lives have a count. four. four lives are how many he ruined: the two he KILLED, and the two that lost. i have no pity for this stupid POS.

43 Zoom-Zoom April 8, 2012 at 3:10 PM

‘Sounds like David “Racer Fox” Rosen is a wanna-be pimp daddy wit his Escalade. But no more. And… he should be charged as an adult.

Hmm….. I could use the LQ9 engine and 4L80E out of that Cadillac for my Chevelle.

44 A faither Claycord reader... April 8, 2012 at 3:10 PM

Mr. Mayor,
I think it is just fine that you posted these Facebook posts. Whether David’s FB was private or not, he posted those things to “friends” in his circle. Any “friend” of anyone can see what is posted and has every right to copy it or send it around to others.

To Others:
As parents, we can encourage our children to use social media responsibly – or not to use it at all. The disgusting slang, profanity, and other personal information should never be posted on Facebook to begin with. This type of “talk” is NOT appropriate and certainly does indicate a person’s character. This “David” person’s character would be someone I would fear for my children to know.

Past performance IS an indicator of the future. David’s recent past has proven the ultimate worst. So extremely sad for the victim’s family. I think any one of us in the CLAYCORD area realize how easy it could have been us walking down the street that day, or us riding a bicycle with our family. This is beyond sad. I believe the community is in mourning.

45 Concernicus April 8, 2012 at 3:10 PM

@39: wrong. not everyone speeds. trying to make it a group sin is about as stupid as being this dummys best friend.

48 Ven Xeter April 8, 2012 at 3:12 PM

Totally agree with #18 MiggityMike. In determining whether this was an “accident”, things like character and past behavior do matter. Thank you Mr Mayor for posting this and hopefully the DA and any attorneys going after the creep’s family will also thoroughly review this to see what a miscreant this community is dealing with.

49 the Shi ite April 8, 2012 at 3:16 PM

Holy H3LL, His Friends are as dumb as He is. Amanda, His personal life? I think it shows that this had a 99.9% chance of happening to a guy like this then to your Mother. The guy was driving like an azzhull – and look at the consequences.
And to bring back an old rant:

50 firestarter April 8, 2012 at 3:17 PM

hey there all… the fact of matter is that 2 families have lost. yes the 17 yr old should be protected as he is under age regaurdless of what we think he has done or think about him as a person…. its a tragedy what has happened…. i cannot imagine loosing loved ones, and can only hope that this never happens to me. it is hard for me to feel anything but saddness for this kid. once again we do not know the entire story. as for being a bass thumper? who cares… lots of kids express themselves through music. ya we may not like it but it is not our choice. i know i should not assume things but don’t you think this kid is freaking out right now? he is probably going through the woulda, shoulda, coulda’s right now…. and yes, he probably should be feeling badly… but what if he is a straight a student, well liked, athlete… does that change everyone’s opinion? or are people just pissed cause he had a nice car? just sayin….
anyways… enough of my tirade…. just trying to look outside of the box… yes i want to yell and scream, but would that help? ok, ok ok…. enough….

51 ConChico April 8, 2012 at 3:18 PM

If his facebook page makes him look bad, maybe HE shouldn’t have posted any of it.

@#real talk: Learn how to type or keep your mouth shut. You are ridiculous.

52 MO April 8, 2012 at 3:20 PM

This information is very sad. How do kids get like this…wasn’t 17 years enough for his parents to realize he is dysfunctional and disrespectful? Unfortunately, I put blame on the people who are his guardians/parents, and on him. Not for the crime only but for his ”attitude” .

Mr. Mayor, I see people who don’t understand the news business, biased or unbiased … news is news, and freedom of the press and freedom of speech, allows us to report.

The Social Media, speaks for itself. It’s been there online most of the day. If they wanted it hidden, it would have been deleted…completely. He obviously suffers from low Intelligence Quotient ….lack of compassion, and total disregard for the law.

News is news folks…I’m sure you are disgusted with all the news outlets and other blogs in the SF Bay Area…by Monday it’ll be National News. He will become the poster boy for his age group, and for affluent teens who think there is no punishment for bad behavior.

He will never get the punishment due him, because in CA I’m sure, life without parole cannot be given for murder, that is not premeditated.

Thank you Mr. Mayor for keeping your “news blog” up to date, unbiased and educational.

The bias comes from the commentaries is all the different threads here, not from Mr. Mayor…he is presenting just the facts, and facts only…no opinion. It is the reader who is forming opinion, and putting it in commentary.

53 Sel April 8, 2012 at 3:22 PM

@ Amanda
Ok, this is too much. He’s sitting in juvenile hall? He’s feeling guilty? He even has “many fines?” Well that changes everything. I had no clue he might actually be facing fines. This ahole killed a father and his little girl. He irreparably destroyed a family. Those are facts we know. You have some mitigating facts you’d like to share? I couldn’t give a rat’s ass about him. He can go to hell and the sooner the better. If it was my family, it would be soon indeed. No “good” can come from this. It’s all bad. We’d do society a favor by instituting some serious deterrence for this type of behavior by hammering this POS into the ground.

54 dave April 8, 2012 at 3:24 PM

@Amanda– I am curious to know what all of David’s supporters think his punishment should be? What is fair in your opinion?

10 years with possible parole in 7 seems fair. Time to think about the suffering he has caused and grow up. Time to realize that in fact, he was NOT a real gangsta after all…..

55 J.T. April 8, 2012 at 3:24 PM

@Amanda who cares if he your friend. He puts peoples life in danger because he is an idiot. Is that really what kind of friend you want? We should be able to see is information to see what kind of a punk he really is. Look on Facebook to see what his brother wrote “f**k those 2 people that died” that show his whole family character and how much of punks they are I cant wait to catch on of his punk friends on the street.

56 Public Parenting April 8, 2012 at 3:29 PM

Get a clue you louts. If you’re putting stuff out on Facebook it is PUBLIC. In fact, pretty much anything you post on the Internet (like this comment) is fair game.

Don’t want someone to use your abysmal language against you? Then don’t post your moronic status updates on the Internet. That or simply learn how to write.

But why take your rage out against David Rosen? Kids are, in large part, a product of their environment. So here we have a 17-year-old who has ‘allegedly’ had prior speeding tickets, is going to a school that indicates he’s been a problem child, and posts obscene images and language that ANY parent should be concerned about.

It sounds like this kid wasn’t given much in the way of ‘parenting’.

57 Cat April 8, 2012 at 3:29 PM

Did I read that he went to Olympic High? A “second chance” high school. If he wasn’t mature enough and responsible enough to graduate from a regular school, then he shouldn’t probably be driving. There was another student not that long ago that shot and killed someone from that school.

I also read Olympic started out as a K-6th grade school and was for many years. Then they turned it into a dump-school for the dumped. Would you want it in your neighborhood? No one does, but there it is. Way to go school district. Way to go.

RIP and sympathy for the family and friends.

58 Palermo April 8, 2012 at 3:31 PM

I have been noticing a real trend when a young person gets in the news and they start showing their FB, Twitter, blogs etc. Virtually all of them think they are living in a rap video. Everybody is so bad ass, calling each other n*gga, giving the finger, bragging about all the bad things they do, their wild sex lives. Even the kids who are still in grade school! It really makes you weep for the future. These are the people who are going to take care of us? God help us all.

59 Cat April 8, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Just realized I should have said the following:

There was another student from the same school that shot and killed someone not that long ago,

And, the Major puts out things that probably should be done so with more caution in order to avoid unnecessary hostile venting by readers, but it is his style.

60 anonymous April 8, 2012 at 3:33 PM

Amanda #39.

IT WASN’T AN ACCIDENT! When the driver of any car DECIDES to run a yellow/red light at a high rate of speed, and looses control FOR ANY REASON, IT’S NOT AN ACCIDENT!

61 Mount Mom April 8, 2012 at 3:35 PM

As I always tell my teens…what you write/post on the internet you are writing in Sharpie, its not pencil. Even once you delete it or make it “private” it is still out there.

62 Slow n Steady April 8, 2012 at 3:35 PM

yeah I speed once in a while, usually to stay close to the velocity of the rest of traffic going 20mph over the speed limit. I’m in the minority but that’s not the point anyway. I did some irresponsible driving a couple times when I was young. I was lucky, nothing bad happened. If something bad happened, I would expect the full fury of the law and society to be unleashed on me. So far the indications are that this young man needs the full fury.

And Mr. Mayor, we’re all hungry for information on this tragedy. Not because we’re vultures, but because we’re heartbroken about this tragedy in our community. Thank you for providing us with what information you can, as you tend to do. Happy Easter.

63 anonymous April 8, 2012 at 3:36 PM

Most of the people who post on Claycord act just like the 17 year and his friends but use different slang. If the people of Claycord represent our community and the people who are raising the next generation I can see why we have a problem. I’m just talking about this subject but all of them.

What a work of shirt this kid and friends are! If had a accident there would. be plenty of talk among my friends and enemy’s. I was always a safe driver, I don’t speed. I care about others. Never drinks or uses drugs. I’m trustworthy and honest. I have earned everything I have ever owned.
Ya rumors can be a good thing, if your a good person.

67 anonymous April 8, 2012 at 3:39 PM

Amanda #39 continued,

You teens who are buddy’s of Rosen’s have no idea what he has done to this family. This reminds me of a teen in my neighborhood who used to drive like a maniac with no regard to others in the neighborhood. Now he’s married with 3 small children and still living in the neighborhood. His house now has several “caution- children at play” signs up permanently. Big surprise, now he wants everyone to drive cautiously so his children aren’t injured. Guess he had finally grown up and values his children’s lives. Maybe when you grow up you’ll understand this. You certainly don’t understand it now.

Please, I hope the people who think they are glorifying the collision scene by dumping flowers there and the people who are going to have a vigil there will FIRST ask the grieving family whether that is appropriate in the family’s religion and whether the wife/mother wants such things to be done. You just might be doing something very offensive, even though what you are feeling is compassion.

Take it down!!! Mayor, please take this down. It only equates to pre-judgment and gossip. This kid will get whatever a judge or jury deems fit.

Especially in your former profession, mayor, I would hope you would have respect for children of all ages.

Mayor – love that you posted his facebook page. As a friend mentioned this morning, his family must not have a criminal lawyer yet or they would have been told immediately to take that page down. Now we all know a little more about the type of person who had this “accident”. Thank you.

To all of this maggots friends shutup. Doesn’t matter if he was a minor or a grandpa he killed someone, he’s information should be known to the public and all we can hope is this kid has fun serving his 2 years in jail which will get reduced to 6 months with good behavior and live the rest of his life while 2 people lost their lives because of some maggot. You think this kid is going to live with this forever? He’s just gonna be happy he didn’t have to serve forever. Can’t wait for the toxicology results so these stupid friends of his flooding claycord shutup. Then the excuse will be it was his first time, he deserves to be forgiven. I wish California laws were stricter. Anyone under the influence or does excessive speeding and kills someone should be given the death sentence. Or we can place all scums like David Rosen in Montana in a cage and feed him and others like him trash why give this guy food out of my tax money? You take one you lose one. I hope his family has assets so the grieving family can sue not that it’ll bring back two wonderful people but so that he truly feels what happened. To all the 16 year old kids, stay in school…Improve your grammar skills and come back to join the blog in a few years.

I cannot believe those of you who are so worried about his rights! What about the rights of the innocent people he has killed and injured and the family he has destroyed. They are the only ones who’s rights were violated. He is old enough to be tried as an adult and I hope that he is. His “wanna be” thug talk on his FB page is hilarious. When he gets to spend some quality time with real thugs in jail he will be crying for his mommy. I have to wonder about his parents in all of this. Since his friends have stated he has never had a job – how the hell did he get the money to buy an Escalade, pay for the insurance, gas, fancy rims and stereo? Either mommy & daddy were spoiling this irresponsible brat or he was doing something illegal to get the money. No 17 year old needs a car like that. Bravo to you Mr. Mayor for posting his FB info. It is a testament to his (lack of) character and attitude. Hey Rosen – don’t drop the soap!

81 9 deuce daisy April 8, 2012 at 4:10 PM

His personal life certainly has EVERYTHING to do with the accident. This child in an adult’s body thought he was some gangster bad ass, now he can reap the sh*t seeds he’s planted thru his life. Unfortunately a small child and father paid with their lives because of this irresponsible moron thinkin he was beyond reality and the consequences of his actions.

AS FOR posting his name…. GET OVER IT. Its been released to the public already.

82 kiyyap April 8, 2012 at 4:11 PM

We are all affected by this. I hope many of you will channel your fear and outrage into positive action. Volunteer as a mentor or activist for the young men and women who, at this age, lack sufficient guidance. It is more than what the parents do that shapes a healthy adult.

And if you know the family who is hurting, do something for them to help them grieve. Bring them food, mow their lawn, clean their kitchen, and drive them around. Nothing more than show you care for their suffering and not about revenge.

If you can’t do any of that, call your mom, son, daughter, etc and let them know you love them.

83 K April 8, 2012 at 4:12 PM

1) Claycord is a blog. Its not a newspaper. The Mayor is the editor so the only person that he has to satisfy ethically is himself.

2) When you ruin a family by being irresponsible, having your social media boast published to a larger forum like Claycord is fair game. It goes with the territory. He deserves all of the public embarrassment that comes his way because he brought it all onto himself.

84 JW April 8, 2012 at 4:16 PM

The guy sounds like a real winner. Him and his friends also need to learn to read and write in English. As far as posting his Facebook page goes: It is public information now. If you don’t like it, don’t kill people or commit stupid crimes. It is too easy to find information on people whether they have a Facebook page or not. This guy probably won’t have to worry about it for a while, but when he goes to look for a job and an employer searches his name, how likely is it that he would be hired for anything?

When I was 17 I did stupid things too. I cut class, I smoked, I imbibed, I kiss the wrong girls, but I never thought that I was too cool to follow the rules of the road. I am not perfect by any stretch. I did realize the consequences of stupidity and their impact on others.

He sounds like just a spoiled little wannabe gangsta. Sorry, I know it is pre-judgmental but his FB page screams it.

Just read the comments, look at the pictures and come to your own conclusion about his character.

It is called critical thinking.

Thanks for covering the story mayor, keep us updated.

For those of you trying to get us to sympathize and saying he is just a”kid” I think if we met David in real life he would try to convince us in more ways than one that he isn’t a kid and is indeed grown up.

I hope he gets tried as an adult because that is what he thought he was, all grown up.

The age of 18 is arbitrary in terms of being an adult. It is not a realistic number given the responsibility one gets when one gets a drivers license and starts driving. Using this arbitrary age of eighteen as a crutch, and not have one fully expect the consequences of immature action, does not fit today’s needs. Once you get a driver’s license, in terms of the law, you should be considered an adult and the consequences of the laws needs to apply. This babying of killers like this needs to stop.

I have no sympathy for him or his damned Facebook page nor do I care for “violating his privacy” as some people are saying here. HE KILLED A 41 YEAR OLD MAN AND HIS 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. He destroyed a family because he was careless. THAT is all that matters. I can’t believe all the concern about his damned Facebook page. What are you people on?????

Now everything is ruined and his facebook page shows he was very proud of himself for making enough money to buy a car. This could have happened to any one of us, maybe the family was not used to American street laws and crossed before it was safe.

@True #79,

If this kid went to De La Salle, was driving a family van or hybrid, decided to speed through a yellow/red light at an estimated 80 miles an hour, lost control and killed 2 people, we’d be saying the same dam thing. He needs to be held responsible for making a very poor decision. He’s been lucky in the past. This time he wasn’t and due to his poor decision 2 people payed the price with their lives. It’s a pretty simple concept.

117 RaceCar Driver April 8, 2012 at 5:21 PM

I am so saddened to hear of those news… I think that ANYONE going over the speed limit isnt that smart either… Since I am a Race car driver, I know firsthand the differences between the track and public streets…

On a race track, the asphalt is usually made out of a better material, and much effort is put into making the racing surface PERFECT… do you really think CalTrans is up to par???

On a race track, there are ABSOLUTELY no pedestrians!! and there is at least a 3 ft concrete barrier between the racing surface… why would you want to drive fast when theres no wall/fence to protect the innocent people thats on the sidewalk!

On a race track, EVERYONE have their pedals to the metal… which enables us to establish a flow around the track that is safe, fun and competitive… on public roads, there are people driving 25, 35, 45, 55, etc… and that is WAY TOO DANGEROUS!!! if you are Slow off the normal pace of a race you will be ordered to exit because you’d be a DANGER to EVERYONE…

ya wanna drive fast? PLEASE go to a racetrack!

That is why racers such as Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, Schumacher, John Force, etc….. Doesnt get into dumb accidents! because THEY DONT DRIVE FAST ON THE ROADS! (Kyle busch is an exception but hes a dumbass too…LOL)

118 Concernicus April 8, 2012 at 5:21 PM

@110: i find it highly amusing that youre telling others to stop posting about it…in a post about it.

@113: accidents are based in ignorance. the kid KNEW that doing 80 in a 45 zone is illegal. the kid KNEW that weaving in traffic is dangerous. he KNEW the hazards, and he still CHOSE to do the stupid thing rather than the right thing. you cant give a “kid” a car and then exempt them from any responsibility for the actions they choose to take.
This could have happened to any one of us again–this is bullshit. not everyone is negligent or reckless at the wheel. quit trying to make others out to be as inept at driving as you are.

we dont give children guns, knives, hedge clippers, chainsaws, power tools…why the hell do we give them CARS? ah, wait, we dont–because a 17 year old’s mental capacity is much higher than that of a 5 year old. he knew right from wrong, and he CHOSE wrong. that is not an accident. its people like you that enable stupid crap like this to happen.

@113 Janon… you should probably reread the news story and what little details it provides. I say that after reading your last sentence. The cyclists were all wearing helmets, and they were on what I believe is a fairly wide sidewalk at that location. The Escalade hit them on the sidewalk, either before or after smashing into a building. I can only conjecture that your comment, “maybe the family was not used to American street laws” is some oblique reference to the victims surnames, but I’d rather not go there. From what I can read on Claycord and other news sources, Mr. Nuri was something of a pillar of the community. I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him, but I suspect he was acutely aware of applicable traffic laws.

122 Make My Day April 8, 2012 at 5:26 PM

Something we can learn from this:

Cars for teen drivers:
Find a suitable vehicle for your young motorists

CUT/PASTE from Consumer Reports online:

Cars for teen drivers

When buying a vehicle, safety and reliability are important considerations, especially if it’s for a young driver, since they usually do not have a lot of driving experience or money. When shopping for a car for that young driver, look for ones with advanced safety features such as electronic stability control and curtain airbags as well as good crash-test results. Generally speaking, bigger and heavier vehicles perform better in crash tests. But very large vehicles can have unwieldy handling, offer poor fuel economy and allow young drivers to drive with more passengers which has been shown to increase a young driver’s crash risk.

Large pickups and SUVs are not recommended for young, inexperienced drivers because their high centers of gravity make them more prone to roll over than other vehicles. Sports cars are also a poor choice for young drivers. They beg to be driven too fast and have a higher rate of accidents than other cars.

123 RaceCar Driver April 8, 2012 at 5:26 PM

Also, Race car drivers gotta drive the speed limit in the pits… NASCAR isnt too nice to you if you break that rule… (most)Cops are nice (as long as youre honest) , Track officials arent (honest or not) :-)

We are infuriated over his reckless driving and lack of concern for others which culminated in the deaths of two innocent people. People are questioning how he could afford the escalade, since his FRIENDS have admitted that he does do drugs and possibly sells them – but if he had been driving a minivan in the same manner and killed two people it would not be any more ok than it is now.

It’s not like any of this was done on purpose. I would bet anything that David wishes it was him instead of the people killed. Aside from that, the mayor had absolutely no right to go on Davids facebook (which is private) in an attempt to slander a kid who feels bad enough about being responsible for two deaths. for those of you calling him a piece of shit, son of a bitch, and a “wanna be gangsta thug” learn your place. So, when shall you, I and the rest of the folks here go out and get one? We should all get lives right? That must mean you need one as well. I only wish that this poor dad and his kid still had theirs (lives.) I think what people are really mad at is the fact that this kid is obviously not a winner. Look at his FB page. Look at the comments from his supporters. Look at what he did. He could have been driving like a normal person but he decided to drive like a jack-ass because he thought it was cool. Now two innocent people are dead. He was not late for work, he has no job. Where was he going in such a hurry? School, no that is a weekday thing. Where? You say people die all of the time. That is a fair statement. Sure. However, it is also a air statement that they probably would not have died if this jerk had been driving as he was supposed to.

Hey Amanda, I know plenty of filth that has come out of Blackhawk, Orinda and Atherton. Idiocy knows no socioeconomic, nor demographic bounds. A 3.0 in highschool is hardly anything to be bragging about. There is no way you are getting an academic scholarship. Touting the economic success of your parents and the age (newness) of your school just proves how superficial, immature and ignorant you are. If you are standing-up for David Rosen, then your judgement is clearly flawed, and your wealthy (and probably indebted and drunk) parents are failing, just as David’s clearly did. I challenge you to step-up, take accountability for your generation, make a change, and stop the bahavior that is destroying the fiber of this country.

Your not getting the point. I bet this punk is not even remorseful. Look at what is so called “brother” Demitri said on facebook “keep his name out yo mouth”, “shut up before you end up like those 2 people”, and “f**k those 2 people”. That lead me to believe thats his whole family is nothing but cowards and dont care about anybody but themselves. YOUR A HYPOCRITE! You came on here “assuming” that if he went to Da La Salle that he wouldnt be judged, wrong. Doesnt matter what school you go to or what car you drive, its your actions that count. He put dozens of people lives in danger by speeding (which was confirmed by the police and witness at the scene) and swerving. Now I ask you what if your dad and sisters were riding there bikes on the sidewalk and this punk hit and killed them. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

138 A collection of responses... April 8, 2012 at 6:32 PM

#7 Facebook is private? How naive.

#8, The Mayor is reporting the news and showing the information not theorizing or convicting. The choice is yours and you seem to have already decided.

#19 Those statements sound more like the cause of problems than any answers. His alleged crime was determined by the police. Where it goes from there is up to the District Attorney. The other comments show your character, sadly.

#32, I think you are mistaken. I think its more about doing whats best for the community.

#38, don’t blame the blog, it just reports the issues. The people who live in Claycord who are reckless and irresponsible and make the bad news are whats most disappointing.

#39, his personal life defines his character. That will also be addressed in court. We all have the right to know who and what this young man is. Sigh, out of the mouths of babes, our future.

#43, we? who are we?

#44 I agree

#46 Well stated.

#51, I agree.

#56 The civil case will be more debilitating, I hope.

#58 I agree with you as well, look to the parents. They are responsible for the child’s development.

#71, Asking the family is a good idea, and if they would decide to attend, their religious preferences should be adhered to. If they should not attend, then any public display would be appropriate. This is a community tragedy, many people will need to heal.

#82, Here in the land of the left, the accused rights always trump the victims rights, that’s why there are so many criminals.

#85, I agree.

#92, perfect example of a comment by the left

#93, Foul language and anti semantic too?

#102, lol, thanks

#103 agreed

#103, 108, you should stop now, you have lost and you keep making yourself look worse. But then again, you very far left.

#114, 50%? generous!

#117, you should have stopped\

#127, you are very generous as well. I would have guessed a cleaner of public toilets.

#130, I agree, though he may not know who reproduction works. And I agree with your comments.

It happens every time someone gets caught in a criminal act. All of the thug’s enablers come crawling out of the woodwork to try to justify bad behavior. It’s a real shame that so many people have been trying to boost the self esteem of these thugs rather than actually teach some values.

147 @True April 8, 2012 at 6:56 PM

Wow I’m surpised people are shocked. It is becoming the majority of high school kids that act this way. I know exactly what’s wrong with them because I graduated in 07 and grew up with many of them. Its music and role models among a few other things. I could seriously write a full expose into east bay area high school behavior and the sociological aspects of them

150 CJ April 8, 2012 at 6:59 PM

I don’t care if a person is a student at De La Salle or a graduate student at Harvard Law School. Putting shit like that on a Facebook page makes one a tool by definition.

151 T.J April 8, 2012 at 7:00 PM

TRUE has to use all caps, because he never learned lower case letters, and wouldn’t be able to tell if he was using proper ghetto slang. Sad that YV, once a decent school, is now producing morons like TRUE. Frightening that David Rosen was kicked-out, and a guy like TRUE was allowed to matriculate. I guess that shows us what a bag of marbles Rosen is.

152 Home detention April 8, 2012 at 7:00 PM

Tragic!! Sad and with this news hope every one remembers to embrace those close to you “embrace life”

153 Dennis April 8, 2012 at 7:07 PM

@Amanda ever read the news stories about spree killers (like Caryl Chessman)? When they are taken, they always seem to have a girlfriend hanging on them, devoted and in love and supporting him … even while he’s doing the ghastly crimes.

Most people would ask their friends “What was she thinking?!?”
All you gotta do is look in the mirror.

WTF are you doing, hanging out with trash like that?
Don’t you think you should be cultivating friends that won’t end up spending most of their lives in prison, and the rest doing dead-end jobs or crime?

The first step is telling your pals you do not approve of their conduct or attitudes.
The second step is to walk away from them and never look back.
The third step is to realize that losers blame everyone and everything else for the consequences of their actions, rather than themselves. Winners understand that all actions have consequences, and if they aren’t willing to take the responsibility for those actions, they don’t do them.

(I figure with a 3.0 in HS you can understand words of more than 2 syllables, unlike your pals)

154 WTF? April 8, 2012 at 7:08 PM

155 Nom de Plume April 8, 2012 at 7:11 PM

There is no reason on earth that a 17-year old needs such a huge vehicle especially when they are known for reckless driving and speeding. Perhaps if Rosen had owned a Smart Car or other appropriately-sized vehicle without a lot of horsepower for someone of his age this would have ended differently. The fire hydrant would have won and no one else would have been injured. His attitude would have been different in a small car or at the very least the consequences would have been different. Rosen was obviously driving at a high rate of speed because you can see the extensive damage to the building which occurred after the vehicle hit the fire hydrant and everything else in its path.

I am so sorry for the Nuri family and friends. This is something that never should have happened and there are no excuses.

Unimaginable and unforgivable. He was old enough to know better and if he wasn’t, his parent(s) were and should have taken over.

156 Steven Grow April 8, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Almost everybody on here disgusts me. Calling all teenagers P.O.S. Grow the eff up. If you’re calling all teenagers P.O.S then what about the adults who are criminals. Should we put all adults in the same class as them? No. Grow up claycord. Stop grouping all teens together. And saying that he bought the car with drug money is ridiculous too. Why can’t he have a job? Because he made a fatal mistake? I wonder how many “adults” on here have made a fatal mistake. I’m willing to bet that some of you have driven drunk or buzzed before too. GROW UP. And posting his Facebook posts on here is not classy. At all.

illegal lane change
Texting (only speculation)

The vehicles computer will reveal the speed he was traveling, 60+ ?

161 T.J. April 8, 2012 at 7:55 PM

When you grow-up enough to articulate your thoughts without using references to cuss words, then we may take you seriously. Until then, wee will have no choice but to group you in with these thugs.

Contrary to your conclusions, I do not, and I believe that most on here do not lump all teens into the same category. Just as we don’t lump all adults into the same category. Sadly, I do think that there are a lot more teens that are marginally literate, with poorly developed consciences, than there were when I was growing up.

I place the blame on the people that want the government to raise, educate, feed and clothe our kids. The schools are terrible ( I know teachers that are just as thuggish as some of these kids.) It is a fact that there are far few stay home moms than there were 30 years ago. Unfortunately, everyone wants more stuff, so both parents have to work to afford to keep-up with the Jones’. We have also lost our moral compass, due to the secular left maginalizing religion. California is more concerned with making sure that every prisoner at San Quentin has a nice new flatscreen and a brand new baseball field, than we are with a generation of youth emulating gangsters and rappers.

I was just like any other teen. I did stupid things, and I sometimes paid the price for it. My parents were quick to remove privileges, and require contrition and accountability. Whenever possible, adequate compensation came from MY piggy bank, or from the sweat of MY labor. If I complained about a mean teacher, I was asked what I did wrong to cause the problem. Mommy and daddy never fought my battles, and by the time I was 17, I was ready for the responsibility of a car. I paid for the insurance, the gas, and had to learn how to fix it myself.

I know firsthand, as I watched the transition over two decades of working with kids, that most parents do everything for their little angels. It is disgusting. They fight every battle, try to have teachers fired because Johnny or Suzy didn’t get an A, and coddle kids to the point where they have no sense or skill when they are thrust into the real world. All of this while they are gone working 50 hours a week.

Parents that are reading this, please don’t think that I am lumping you all into this category, just because both of you work. I know plenty of couples that manage to do a great job with their kids while both parents are working. They are amazing, and I admire them, and their kids, since the kids have a lot to do with their own success. It is incredibly hard, and I know that they work so hard to give their kids opportunity. Unfortunately, there are plenty that don’t have the capacity or don’t care enough to go that extra mile to make sure their kids are on the right path.

My soapbox is getting weak beneath my feet, so I had better get off. Please remember that we are all ultimately responsible for our own actions, and accidents are rare. Poor decisions and poor role models are the root of most of the tragedies we hear about. If you don’t have good role models, the burden on you as a young adult is that much greater. It is not fair, but it is not an excuse either.

162 Sometimes, April 8, 2012 at 7:58 PM

its best for the community to take care of its own criminals, or wannabes.

A strong community can do a lot to encourage more appropriate behavior. In a society which does not call for accountability or for being responsible, they create and even encourage irresponsible and unaccountable behavior. When complacency prevails, all else fails.

We cannot blame ourselves for this horrid event, but as a community we can take action to prevent another. Who will have the courage to begin?

My husband drove past Treat and Oak Grove and saw healthy crowd gathered for the candlelight vigil. Says there was a good-sized crowd, many from the Nuri family’s Afghan community (people wondered earlier if a candlelight vigil would go against their beliefs). When this first happened, a poster on this board hoped the mother/wife had a strong support system or belonged to a church that could help her through this nightmare. It is at least a comfort to know that she does have that. This was a sad Easter…could not get this out of my head, then seeing bits and pieces of this Rosen character made things worse. After our meal, I went out in the sun to do some gardening and relished every breath I took.

169 Cowellian April 8, 2012 at 8:21 PM

Steven Grow@158,
So we disgust you? So what? You disgust me!
You, and all the other criminal enablers, come on here to defend the indefensible. Go ahead and rant. Next week, you’ll be gone, and there will be another thug who has put people’s lives in danger that we’ll be discussing, and we’ll have to deal with a whole other set of enablers.

170 Lari April 8, 2012 at 8:21 PM

@Sometimes: I agree with you! I just had an incident on BART on Friday morning, calling out a little thug’s inappropriate behavior. He was 15 at most and when challenged, he had no qualms acting like a little ‘gangsta’ and calling me ‘b-tch’. But I noticed that he did stop acting out after that (I think he more shocked that a professional-looking woman old enough to be his mother got up in his face). Adults need to do this more often – think about that Claycordian who recently yelled at the little thug wannabes hanging out by CVS (because he saw them stealing from Fresh & Easy). In my own neighborhood, there used to be these Slim Shady types who would hang out on our corner, cussing like rappers and smoking bongs in full view of everyone. Finally, a neighbor and I confronted them. She ended up installing cameras outside her garage with a flourish and aimed them right at the kids. Never saw them again. If I see litter on my block – anywhere, not just my property – I pick it up. Guess what? Not so much litter anymore…in fact, my neighbors, who used to just leave it on the street, are now picking it up, too. This is how change happens. Stand up to these punks and don’t look away.

171 AnonoGod April 8, 2012 at 8:25 PM

Candlight Vigil? … I wonder if anyone from the Rosen family is there?.. THAT , would give you a picture of what kind of family he is from…

172 Public Parenting April 8, 2012 at 8:32 PM

You DO need to go the the FacePunch link ( and see what his brother has been saying.

There is one misguided individual there (FreakyMe) who has seemingly contacted Demitrius, convinced him to stop reacting and believes that he is sincere in his … contrition.

I wish I could post there (but can’t because traffic is so high there) but there are two major problems with the vile stuff that Demitrius has said (even if it is in reaction to people harassing him).

First, if you start joking that you’ll make people ‘flat like that kid’ or ‘run them over with a cadillac’, or make them dead like those 2 people, that’s NOT something you get to ‘redact’. And it doesn’t matter if you regret saying it after the fact.

Say you’re going to kill them, call them names, say they’re disgusting for harassing them. But actually using the victims that your brother killed as fodder for responding? No, that’s a very clear disregard for the people his brother (and family) have destroyed. There is no going back from that. You don’t redact it.

Second, there seems to be some belief that now that he’s not posting anything that it’s just been a lapse in judgement. Really? If he had an ounce, and I mean an OUNCE of self-respect or wanted to do something good in the face of a tragic situation he should have a very simple statement on Facebook that acknowledges the tragedy.

Just say you feel awful for the family and wish that it hadn’t happened. The fact that he hasn’t done THAT publicly is rather telling.

Of course no one knows exactly how they’d react in this situation, but joking about the victims and not giving any public indication of sympathy or empathy …

173 Dennis April 8, 2012 at 8:34 PM

poollady it is common practice for the cops and courts to not name the juvenile, and the media usually does also, but there are no restrictions on friends naming him publicly, as happened here.

Holy effing Christ! This idiot is a known speeder, texter, traffic scofflaw who was, once again going at LEAST 30 miles over the speed limit, probably weaving in and out of traffic like a snake and people are defending him, his “right to privacy” and saying it’s an accident? It was vehicular Murder and it was only a matter if time before it happened. He’s guilty. He’s a toad. Josh Cardone was victimized, bullied, threatened, and trying to defens himself from an aggressive bully and his dog but people blamed Josh. Is everyone out there an effing double standard idiot????

Who’s the coward Fool?

177 Jeff April 8, 2012 at 8:50 PM

To all the dumb-asses posting back and forth about each other, the driver’s friends and people who are furious with each other – STOP with the tough guy crap. It ain’t about any of you, and everyone has the right to express their opinions. I don’t think this kid woke up and said, gee, let me go and kill two people today, but I DO think he was negligent and will end up paying. Let the system run it’s course.

My immediate take is that this is a terrible tragedy for two families, dozens of people who knew both the victims and the driver, and NO ONE WINS in this situation. Neither the twelve year old and surviving mother or the driver’s family will ever be the same again.

If you TRUST in the judicial system, and you should – the driver will get his due. No amount of punishment is ever going to bring the victims back. The facts will come out. When they do, then we can judge further. I think people are already judging the guilt of this young man’s NEGLIGENCE, and it doesn’t really sound like that’s in question.

For those defending his actions – look, I’ll be frank – if he was driving recklessly – then no matter what – blown tire, high, drunk, sober, etc – he was NEGLIGENT and in doing so, killed two people. That’s why everyone is so pissed off. Two good people died for no reason. You can hate them for expressing mean things about the driver but the bottom line is that he could have killed any of us, and it’s very frustrating that people continue to put others at risk by driving crazy…

Facebook is an open forum – if you post it so others can see, you better believe it’s going to come back to haunt you. I feel no sympathy about posting the driver’s identity or posts here.

I just hope the kid does his time, apologizes for his actions, and LEARNS from it. Maybe then he’d be an example to follow, instead of someone hated for his actions. None of us live in glass houses and none of us should throw stones, but let the system take care of it. Pray for the victims on this Easter Sunday, may they rest in peace, may the driver find peace, and the families find forgiveness.

Mr. Mayor, First thank you for keeping us informed thats what this blog is about. It’s not about Rainbows and Unicorns. It’s about Facts and information!

Second these “People” on this kids Facebook are some real classy kids. Obviously this kid didn’t earn the Truck in a respectable way because he couldn’t even talk about in on his page. Although saying “Nigga” and “faggot” seems to be ok. This kid looks like his 9 lives have run out for chances to get his act together. You don’t go to Olympic because your an angel.

180 funny guy April 8, 2012 at 9:03 PM

he wont see a lick of prison time, mommy and daddy will enlist the best judge… err lawyer money can buy
no parents want to see their kid in the state ‘pound-me-in-the-ass’ prison
plus that dui grampa that killed the woman farther down on treat, got off scott free, murderers who smother their partners in their sleep walk around free in claycord, this “kid” will too

181 MommaToTwo April 8, 2012 at 9:06 PM

To David’s family… Im so sorry for what your son has done to an innocent family. No doubt that this will affect you forever. I hope David sees what he has done to this family and learns from it.

To David’s ” Friends “…. he’s not a ” Nigga ” or a homie, he’s a kid who killed two innocent people. Anything you post on the internet is there FOREVER !!! No he didn’t plan on doing it which is why he was originally charged with Vehicular Manslaughter. ( Killing someone with a car by accident ) You all think that you’re invisible… that nothing will happen to you, no matter what you decide to do. He acted irresponsibly and you all want to protect him ?! Kids need to learn what morals are and stick by them. David needs to do some growing up. THis isnt a rap video and you all live in Concord,, not Compton. Its time to grow up and out of the ” I think im a badass gangster ” phase.

To the wife and daugter of the victims…. There are no words to express what has happened and I know that its hard to find comfort in your loss. I also have a 9 year and could not imagine the loss you feel. Please know that I am praying for you and your daugter forever and always. And know, that the community is praying for you too.

Please pay attention when you drive…. Dont Speed, Dont Text or Talk.

182 Subterfuge April 8, 2012 at 9:10 PM

This kid is an ignorant fool. People need to wake up and recognize that they share this world. It’s when we go it alone that others get hurt.

183 caskydiver April 8, 2012 at 9:15 PM

How tragic for all involved. It is no surprise to me to see a 17 yr old responsible and, obviously, driving beyond his abilities. How many more people will get killed on our streets/roadways to young people who don’t respect the fact that they have limits to their abilities and that there are permanent consequences to their actions.?

184 Dumbass Cowards April 8, 2012 at 9:22 PM

I already am a Hero, fool. You want to act a fool out in public, don’t be surprised when you get called out on it – and it might just be by myself. What are you defending? The right to be an ass?
The law is on my side.
Ignorance is on yours.

185 Killjoy April 8, 2012 at 9:24 PM

Let me guess. I’ll bet David Rosen also wore his pants hanging low.
He can use that in prison, letting the other inmates know he is available for homosexual activities.

On a more serious note, you folks who claim to be friends of David Rosen, do yourselves a big favor.
Put as much distance between him and yourselves as you can.
At least until he can straighten out his life.

186 JW April 8, 2012 at 9:25 PM

Wow! I just followed the link to the “facepunch” website. The guys friends say a lot about the people that they are. Seriously, who raised these people? They don’t act like men. They act like chimps. (Please do not take that as racist) They act like chimps in the way that they want to play the tough guy male stereotype. I see a ton of chest beating on the thread. They also throw a lot of poop. Metaphorically speaking of course.

187 P April 8, 2012 at 9:30 PM

I think it is great that Mr. Mayor posted his facebook crap. This kid thought the law didn’t apply to him. When are people going to learn that if you use a social media such as facebook, it is not private. If you wanted to keep something private, don’t post on Facebook.
It’s a shame shame this 17yr old ruined his life. He also destoyed an innocent family.

I just ask this question, where are his parents in all of this bad behavior that this kid seems to be portraying?. Obvioulsy they aren’t doing a very good job parenting. He goes to Olympic. He has an expensive car, no job and does what he wants. Including speeding tickets. I think his parents should go to jail with their son.

188 EvoStevo April 8, 2012 at 9:30 PM

First, my heart goes out to all involved in this tragedy. As a regular reader of Claycord, I must say I am disappointed in the decision to post this information about the driver. I am not suggesting that his name be withheld, or that you went “over-line” by searching for his Facebook profile. Simply, I think that content of this article does little to advance understanding of the story and, as the comments demonstrate, it fans flames within the community. I recognize it is your prerogative to post what you want on the website but, as mentioned in other posts, this comes off as gossipy. I want to be proud of local journalism, but this article leaves me disappointed.

189 gg April 8, 2012 at 9:31 PM

Arrogant little punk deserves to rot in jail. Those who are mad this post is on claycord are probably his little punk friends. The driving ages needs to be at least 18. Most younger than that are too immature to understand that a car can be a dangerous weapon.

190 Not Fair April 8, 2012 at 9:35 PM

Thank you Mayor for posting the pictures from this idiot 17 year old piece of s&&t!!!! This F**k ruined many many lives and I sure hope gets what he deserves.

I had the opportunity to hang out with Mr. Nuri for 3 years in a row at the father daughter dance for the girl scouts over at Woodside Elementary. He brought a nothing but Love and Happiness to his daughters, I saw it I was there with them. The girls Hanna and Hadesa Adored their father and I cannot imagine the pain the Nuri family is going thru.
Today I prayed with my church for the Nuri Family. God Bless them and give them strength to make it thru life.

191 Just a Concordian April 8, 2012 at 9:52 PM

The pitchforks are out today! In full force might I add.

Reminds me of the Olympic Flame run when everyone, and I mean EVERYONE with a cause was out there in the Embarcadero protesting and holding up banners. Even the nudists were out, but that’s to be expected and no, they weren’t holding up anything :)

That having been said… I’ve enjoyed the circus today. Aside from this tragedy, and my thoughts go out to 2 families, not just one, I think we’ve seen the true face of humanity today. Well, nothing I haven’t seen before in my short 35 years on this earth. Brave people, ready to murder for their ideals, protected by the impenetrable shield of an LCD screen.

I’m not here to lecture anyone, nor do I want to have the pitchforks pointed at me, though, I am sure one or two will. And though I do not believe in any god, incorporated or otherwise, I do feel that these words will do justice to all of you (ME INCLUDED) and your “ideals”

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

192 Ifuonlyknew April 8, 2012 at 9:56 PM

For starters…I totally agree with JW #84 & #132. Its funny how “grown” he thinks he is when he is posting shit on facebook. Better be able to handle what comes your way then! Iam only a few years older than this david, & damn if these kids only knew. I thought i was invincible, didnt give two shits about anything other than what i was doing/wanted & believe me i saw & did some shit that forced me 2 grow up real fast.

SO..David, you look like a fking clown with your little fb posts! Same for all these “friends”. As for Amanda If I were you i would stay out of it completly. What do you think you are going to get out of commenting on here? Your going to end up in way over your head. Trust me when i say none of you are as bad ass as you might think you are. Wait until you have a child of your own!!

Guaranteed David is laying on his concrete slab for a bed, crying his eyes out thinking about every thing he can possibly think of, wishing he was at home where he could eat, watch tv, text all his lil friends smoke on some weed, whatever. Pretty sure he is going nuts by now, & cant wait for court just so he is out of his new living quarters for more than 45 mins.

“Shut up about this, people die in car accidents oh well. Stop judging this guy and the school he went to. You are all pathetic by turning this into such a big deal.”

Yes, people do die in car accidents everyday. Unfortunately many people knew the father and the daughter and this happened in OUR community. Whether we knew them or not doesn’t matter because this has touched all of our lives in some way. Not only because it is so tragic but also it seems the driver seemed so reckless and irresponsible in his behavior. This could have been any one of us…… If you don’t have the sensitivity or the capacity to understand this, then I feel sorry for you. Society has become so callous and cutthroat, it’s chilling.

thanks for some clearly written material that makes sense. these comments are making me dizzy….

206 @ Amanda April 8, 2012 at 10:52 PM

People can be harsh. We forget how difficult it can be to grow up. We’ve been there. Insecurities come to mind when some girls hang with certain boys. You want to be in the “cool” crowd and sadly some of these boys are deemed cool today. Tomorrow you will look back and ask yourself, “what was I thinking?” It takes a strong individual to break away from bad influences. Influences that are immature and lack any decency. Having a spine means rejecting the bad boy image. Usually these bad boys amount to nothing later in life. Some are still trying to make it. I know, I’ve been to many high school reunions. Most of the cool, bad ass guys are either dead, in or our of jail, alcoholics or drug addicts or losers. If you are as smart as you say you are, find friends that have ambition and real goals in life……

207 why? April 8, 2012 at 10:52 PM

This is a time for all of us to reflect. I urge the young people to reflect on their life and the path they have chosen. Please stop acting like thugs and crooks. Educated and enlighten yourselves. That is the most important thing you can do at this young age. And do not defend a criminal or criminal acts, even if it involves your friends. Learn from this tragedy, improve yourselves. STOP TEXTING AND BEING DISTRACTED WHILE DRIVING!!!

208 why? April 8, 2012 at 10:54 PM

@ 108

“Shut up about this, people die in car accidents oh well. Stop judging this guy and the school he went to. You are all pathetic by turning this into such a big deal.”

Let’s run over your loved ones with a 3 tons car and see if you change your tune. Idiot.

We all saw your picture, we all know your a fat ugly turd from your facebook picture now tell Demitri there a lot of people looking for him. I would tell him to stay hiding because it not safe on these streets anymore.

211 TG from Clayton April 8, 2012 at 11:11 PM

All these are facts – ethical or not. This is something you will not see on “the news” which is why I like Claycord. Thank you for having the balls to tell it exactly how it is.

You didn’t coin WTF, you don’t own it, get a life.

213 NeedsHelp April 8, 2012 at 11:13 PM

I hope that this young man can get some serious help while he is incarcerated or on probation or whatever. What a horrible thing he has done. May all who are suffering heal some day and find light in their lives.

214 anonamel April 8, 2012 at 11:14 PM

you are mistaken if you think he “has a life”, his future as we know it is over. He will never be able to go anywhere in his life where this will not haunt him. He likely will become another statistic, and live his life in an out of the prison system. Unable to complete an education, or land a decent job. He may have survived the crash, but there is a difference between being able to live your life and just “being alive”.

This could have happened to any single one of us, it could have been the soccer mom in the suburban who decided to brake hard to avoid hitting a squirrel. The devoted dad on his way to work that spilled coffee in his lap. The young son/daughter who thought that, I’ve sped down this road countless times, this time will be no different. The brother or sister that decided just this one time it would be ok to drink and drive.

How are we honoring the victims by crucifying this young man? Will it bring them back? He’s just as much a member of this community as the Nuri family, and if they can find compassion for him in their hearts… why can’t all of you armchair quarterbacks who have lost NOTHING this past weekend aside from the countless hours you’ve spent spreading half truths with your seething commentary. He will be punished in far more ways than one, the excessive hatred really isn’t necessary.

215 Sonnage April 8, 2012 at 11:14 PM

Throw this wigga in jail and lock him up for good. Make an example out of him so his other dumb friends can hopefully learn that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Sad about the victims and victims family.

216 REAL TRUTH April 8, 2012 at 11:17 PM

To all the other young adults and teens out there that think you are looking soooo cool, driving to fast and cutting people off, bass thumpin, Coffey can exhaust pipe, hoody up. Everybody hates you!!! even your idiot counterparts. We ALL say LOOK AT THAT IDIOT (as you go by), there going to kill someone. SO PULL YOUR PANTS UP, TURN YOUR HAT AROUND, AND SLOW THE F**K DOWN BEFORE YOU DO!!!!!!!!!

217 SoHo April 8, 2012 at 11:24 PM

Prayers go out to the Nuri family and friends. I was at the sence 1 hr after and was shooken up for about 2 hrs. Maybe someone should contact the IRS for an audit on David Rosen/ family to see how he paid for his SUV. And why was he a regular at the liquor store every day after school, across the street from where the sence took place. I’m so sure he was buying candy…
I just hope that justice is served!

220 SoHo April 8, 2012 at 11:33 PM

I’m offended by some of these posts because you say it’s because the school, parents, and his financial situation !?!?! I’m 20yrs old and I graduated from a dump school because I worked my whole highschool til now cuz my family struggled & my parents are recovering addicts also not being the best respondsible role models in my life and I have nice things because I wooed for it but that doesn’t make me immature or irresponsible. I’m not here to say how stupid he is because you all have clarified that & I’m sure he’ll be suffering knowing he took 2 people’s lives. My heart and prayers are for the families. I do think they shouldn’t go easy on him but I would not take his life for 2 lives cuz if this world went by and eye for an eye we would all be blind.

227 sweetpealover April 9, 2012 at 12:03 AM

People are judged by their actions. Therefore if someone acts recklessly and carelessly they should be treated and punished to the fullest extent of the law (more for this jerk). And everyone should know that anything we put on the internet or fb is free game for everyone. If you act like an idiot you will be treated the same. Simple as that. Get used to it.

228 UNIDENTIFIED April 9, 2012 at 12:09 AM

Why do Some of these kids on here think making threats and taking someone elses life will bring back the two people that was taken but it wont it just makes matters worse im sure that the father that passed away and his wife wouldn’t wanna take someone’s life away and suffer as they did so think before you talk. Someone should be watching some of these people throwing out threats

232 Dennis April 9, 2012 at 12:45 AM

“Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”

really? So those who commit a minor sin are not allowed to recognise and react to those committing large sins? That’s certainly not the intent of the saying.

After Columbine, there were those who wanted to plant memorial trees for the shooters amongst the trees for their victims, and bury the shooters alongside their victims, because the shooters also lost their lives, and thus were victims as well. (WRONG).

Why should we teach our children right from wrong, and then tell them to ignore those teachings, and accept those abberrants into their social group (ie. friends)?

Teens need to understand that they will be held accountable for the consequences of their actions (including being shunned by society).

They also need to understand that uniforms exist for a reason: instant recognition of status, whether military, police, even Emo, Goth, Gangsta.

If they insist on broadcasting an identity, they need to understand they will be judged by society according to the ‘identity’ of the uniform they choose to adopt.

He went on to threaten someone on fb by saying “your going to end up like those 2 people” and “f**k those people”. I googled his school and the program, David was Student of the Week in March.

239 lexicon6 April 9, 2012 at 7:21 AM

TRUE: When I first heard about this, I thought it was a rich kid whose parents bought him an Escalade, or he had the family wheels. I had never even heard of Olympic High. But further info clarifies things a bit. $14K IS a lot of money for a 17yr old without a job. Must be some big Christmas gifts.

I love how being a REPUBLICAN is a huge insult for you. You live in such a small world. Do you know that millions of people in the country are Republicans?

Another poster is right: These kids are trying to live a music video.

243 anon April 9, 2012 at 7:43 AM

For anyone that doesn’t have facebook and missed some moments that should also be preserved, the site facepunch has a 7 page thread about this (as others have mentioned) which includes some very disgusting facebook screenshots. Some have been shown here but there is another one that deserves attention. It has been deleted but at this link the second post down is the one in question.

The brother openly mocks killing the girl in the pic by saying, “no she was riding a bike and i hit her with my car it was a cadillac to be exact you mad bro”. Some concerned defense lawyer in training (seriously, he admits it on page 7) has been contacting the brother who writes this garbage and getting facts wrong by insinuating that the Rosen’s are poor people and thus those outraged by his behavior are wrong and by incorrectly stating that the posts were made an hour after the collision and in a very small time frame. He convinced him to delete the posts which he did, after a while. The emails to the brother are posted (all?) and the whole exchange is a very interesting peek into the mind of a defense lawyer in training. The future lawyer and new friend of Rosen’s brother is “FreakyMe” in the forum.

244 PACO TACO April 9, 2012 at 7:54 AM

To be fair, David Rosen is actually a good dude.. I know this was a huge mistake but and he f-ed up, but lets have the lynch mob stand down, he will be punished for what he did which will never be equal to taking lives but lets remember he didnt do it on purpose, just a young cat in a fast SUV.. I dont really like how Claycord went all “Perez Hilton” and ufairly posting his facebook updates, yea him and his friends would talk crap and bragg about speeding but he never said he was out to kill people.. Just like the victims family he will live with this day for the rest of his life,

245 Judge Roy Bean April 9, 2012 at 8:25 AM

Student of the week don’t mean squat at Olympic…Its handed out like candy.
You all can guess how he was making his money? and gassing up the beast.

246 @paco taco April 9, 2012 at 8:43 AM

Just like the victims family??? He didn’t kill two of his own family members.

247 the_dude April 9, 2012 at 9:08 AM

Olympic High school = loser. So how does a loser kid going afford a cadillac escalade?

248 anono April 9, 2012 at 9:09 AM

They Mayor couldn’t have gotten screenshots from Rosen’s FB if it was private, unless he had Rosen’s password. Many of the kids on FB are stupid and don’t mark their FB posts ‘Friends’ only.

Get over the language that Rosen and his friends use. It’s just language that many kids use today — even good ones.

What is relevant is what Rosen was doing at the time of the accident. If he was going fast enough, he should be charged appropriately with a felony. I don’t think kids should be charged as adults. If they’re not old enough to enter into a legal contract, drink, etc., they should be treated as minors in everything. Rosen could easily be sentenced for several years if it’s proven that he was driving recklessly. In addition, I think a tremendous amount of community service should be assessed. Maybe the family could select the type of community service Rosen should perform. He should have to pay a large amount of restitution to the family.

Amanda — grow up. This isn’t really about your friend. This is about David running his car over two people and taking their lives. He’s responsible for their deaths. He can never undo this. He can never fix the Nuri family. If someone was speeding (and may have been doing something else that’s illegal while driving) and killed your parents, would you be saying the same thing? David has to be held accountable, and a few weeks in juvenile detention isn’t adequate. David should be subject to the loss of his freedom in juvenile detention, the loss of the vehicle, the loss of his driver license, the loss of his money, among other losses. Even then, it still won’t make up for the loss of the Nuri family. Mrs. Nuri and her surviving daughter are the ones you should feel sorry for.

Focus on what Rosen did to cause the accident. The best to come out of this will be lessons learned on how to prevent the same thing from happening in the future.

This is just confirming the type of people that Rosen represents. This makes me sick.

Go to:

and read the posts from Rosen’s FB before it was made unavailable.

Specifically the posts from Demitri Brandon Penuelas.

One in particular..Penuelas says the following in one of his posts:

“F those two people that died…you needa stop talkin, shit cause im not the nigga you want to be fing with.”

If You’re Not Outraged, You’re Not Paying Attention!

253 friend of the family April 9, 2012 at 9:35 AM

Amanda…I understand he is your friend, and I respect that he did not wake up planning to take out half of a family. However, he did make a series of very irresponsible choices, and I agree we all have. However, we have laws for a reason and we as a society have to follow them. Personally, I have never sped, because I didn’t want to kill anyone. In fact, I am 50 and have never had an accident, so don’t excuse him because ” everyone does it”. There is a difference between going 5 mph over limit, and total recklessness. Bef you judge me, go look at the damage to the building in person. Close your eyes and picture that it could have been you walking Dow. That street. What if you were a passenger with your good friend. Would you feel the same if you were in the hospital today, with half of your face still out there entangled in the windshield? If you have no empathy ( google it), at least try to understand it could have been you. If you ever have children, think back on this, and maybe then, you will understand why we are so angry. I knew those little girls. I hurt for Hannah, standing there next to her dead dad, watching them try to save her little sister. I hope sine good comes of this. Perhaps David would consider speaking of teens about living with what he had to live with, and I hope his friends, who think that behavior is cool, will change paths before this happens to them.

@ Paco Taco, “just a young cat in a fast SUV.”

He was driving way too fast and with his limited experience in driving. Unfortunately too many young people have no concept of death or how it may touch their lives. The arrogance of youth as we call it. Even I could not imagine becoming middle age and contemplating life in such a manner. Unfortunately when you act irresponsibly, your odds at facing death or despair go way up……

Idiot doesn’t even know what “yen” is. Didn’t his parents even wonder how he had enough money to buy the Escalade? And what about his cryptic comment that gas wouldn’t be a problem. Wonder if he’s one of the guys jacking gas from our cars at night. Why do teens today seem so proud of their ignorance?
