Dear Walnut Creek School District Community,
Monday night, February 20, the Walnut Creek School District email system became corrupted. We have been working on repairs and will notify you when all is back to normal.
Here is what you presently need to know:
- Email is currently not a reliable form of communication with WCSD staff.
- Many emails may have been lost and not read in the last week.
- Voicemail may have been lost and not heard.
- Not all teachers and staff are able to receive and/or send email.
- If you need to talk to somebody, please telephone the school and speak directly to an employee for the next few days.
We hope to have email and voicemail fully restored by the end of the week, if not before. Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,
Patricia Wool, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Walnut Creek School District

Time to switch to Google Apps.
First the AUHSD phone system went down last week, and now this? Good grief!
Sounds like the e-mail IT guy is going to be busy tonight!
MDUSD will be next then…….
really good IT guys who are out of work that would be delighted to help fix this and design a system that will make it tougher for people to hack in and corrupt systems.
Ahhh, ain’t progress wonderful? Back to phoning, and talking to a real person.
lol they can’t manage their exchange um system… I’d be fired for something like that.
Actually, email is a poor way to communicate with your teacher. Use the phone or stop by in person. Everyone, including teachers, gets tons of email and nobody has time to read your 3 page reason why you missed a test.
Low bid or probably the highest!!
Another fine Microsoft product?
@AnotherAnon: You beat me to it! God forbid, right?
@ Pleasant Bill
You are complelely wrong.
E-mail is the best way to get things done around here.
We check our e-mails the first thing each morning.
There is not a great number of them each day.
And yes, we read each one everyday. (and reply when called for)
So i totally disagree with your comments.
Can tell you don`t work at a school site
lol, you got that right. I visit many computer installations. Email is almost never “lost”.
@Jojo Potato: Why would you assume that this is a Microsoft issue? A lot of servers are using Linux
@Mac – Thanks for the confirmation. I’ve always found my kid’s teachers to be very responsive to email and I assumed it was their preferred means of communication (for routine stuff) at the middle school level.
@ Charles-the-cat
E-mails allow them to read it, when it best fits their schedule..
Either before kids are there..
Or in between classes.
Or during their lunch or other break.
Calling by phone is only good if they are not busy with their class.
And trying to see them after school, does not always work well either.
Teachers have meetings, and personal things to do at that time.
And you might think they left early, when really they are just working in another area. (plus some teachers use more then one room, in a day)
Teachers, Principals, Office Managers and Head Custodians all communicate thru e-mails (in 2012) and Parents should too.
And find it by far to be the best way to go.
It`s the best way to communicate without bothering the kids/Teachers while they are busy studying.
This is not just my opinion.
It is how the whole school feels.
Ask your teacher
@Bill Gates. He prob asumed it b/c exchange is one of the only packages that manage voicemail and email together. I don’t think there is a linux solution to do this yet. I mean there is asterisk that sends voicemails to email, but to loose it all. lol@their IT Dept.
