Diggers.
Never had either one
Any word yet about the grand opening of the new Safeway in ph?
Hands down Nations has the best burgers.
They make a pretty fine burger.
@ Victor mature,
If that is the one at Sunvalley Mall…….ugh. The parking lot is full of asylum escapees.
Doesn’t anyone dress up anymore? I know the answer, looking back at the Claycord Museum’s photos of various openings they all looked a lot better than these bums. Show some pride people!
@Victor mature, the neighborhood got a “sneak peak” last night and it was packed. Was like a family reunion for a lot of us sports parents. They were giving yummy samples, too. I imagine they will do that through the weekend opening. The gas pumps are functioning. I have mixed feelings due to traffic through my neighborhood but it is going to be nice to know they will actually have what I am looking for on the shelves! Going to take advantage of all the coupons all stores typically give out in the first weeks of business. (Otherwise I am a Grocery Outlet first then go to Safeway for the fresh stuff.)
@Stu: I want to understand your joke?
Front row, second from the right?
@ victor
try today or over the weekend should be grand openings
Yes that new Safeway is open, the one in the old mervyns building. Make site and get their coupon book. There are coupons in there for free french bread, free peanut butter, free soup, and free apple juice. Not to mention the gas is $3.69 a gallon. The coupons expire march 16.
We already tried 5 Guys. Way more expensive than In-N-Out. I wasn’t too impressed with the burger, and very disappointed with the fries. The burger might have been better if I knew how to order exactly what I like. P.S. the music was way too loud when we ate at the Clayton shopping center location.
Digger’s Diner, as #1 points out, has an excellent burger menu if you want a specialty burger. And they are less expensive than 5 Guys as well.
Have yet to have a Five Guys burger, but as Susan said, Nations is tough to beat. And I just had Nations for the first time about 3 weeks ago! Guess I need to try Diggers too.

==================
Agreed!
It’s called “Casual Fridays”. Be glad they didn’t have a theme for the day as well at their work place, such as crazy hat day, or wear your shirt backwards today-day.
Ate there once the burger fell apart after the first bite. I dont like eating my burger with a knife and a fork. Dirty floor dirty tables loud music. Cant wait for in n out
I’ve eaten there a couple times. They fail to impress. In n out is better, but Nations takes the cake- er… Uhm… Burger.
Jojo Potato at #15 ~ ~ ~ Usually I would be the first one waving my hand in the air and agreeing with the sentiments you expressed. BUT……this is a “hangaburger” joint, and I think they’re dressed very appropriately.
Habit Burger in Walnut Creek is by far a better burger and a better value than 5 Guys. Habit Burger will be opening another location at the old Co-op site at Treat/ Geary & N. Main in Walnut Creek.
Five Guys is a fancy In N Out. I voted In N Out. We have had the PH Five Guys several times and In N Out is far more consistent and tastiest. What’s In N Outs slogan “Quality you can taste”. Five Guys is okay on occasion. They just, as stated above, charge too much for a simple burger!. Good Luck to em’ anyway! The Pleasant Hill In and Out is really coming along.
Someone mentioned price as a factor?
Seeing as I can walk to Five Guys and it’s a 20 minute drive to In-N-Out’s new location, gasoline factors in (not to mention driving time).
In-N-Out is more expensive. Oh, it’s a great burger, but it costs me more.
Five Guys Burgers & Fries is a rip off. $14 for a burger, fries and a soda and the burger was small. I will never eat there again on my dime.Jack in the Box is just as good and better priced.
Hasn’t Five Guys been open for a while now? They’re just now having a ribbon cutting?
For all their service-related issues, at least Burger Road offered beer and onion rings with their burgers.
Youze guys with the comments. Love you all!
Five guys sucks. So overpriced for not that great of a burger. In-N-Out all the way.
In-N-Out>five guys
McDonalds>burger king
Just as Burger King is a wannabe McDonalds, Five guys is a wannabe In-N-Out.
Diggers or Nations.
Burger King became a wannabe McDonalds when they replaced their “it takes two hands to handle a Whopper” with just another hamburger.
Wish we had a Jeffrey’s in Claycord….best burger I ever had.
Anyone else ever been there?

@Pleasant Jenny,
My comment was based on three individuals running three seperate stop signs in the Safeway parking lot as I tried to make it out from the JC Penney’s side this afternoon. I was also treated to two elderly women swearing at each other as one was apparently going the wrong direction while looking for a parking spot. Rather than be rude and state what I thought of these highly agitated people, I put it in a comical vein.
The Counter in WC. A little bit expensive but a great burger.
Yeah ummmmm, it is going to sink like Burger Road.
Nations is the best!
we tried Five Guys a couple of weeks ago, and it was terrible! They even got our order wrong, and they weren’t even busy. We won’t try them again.
Five Guy’s are over priced, not as good as In & Out and very noisy. I tried it and I’m glad I did. Won’t go back there.
Five Guys is OK. In and out is good, but Nations cheeseburger rules!!!!!!
Who is the bozo holding the cutting tool, Wait that’s our cream puff lejonie.
Five Guys all the way!
Why so many Five Guys haters? The ingredients are fresh and all add ons are free. @aka the meal is nowhere near $14 and the burgers are large and tasty. I love the music and don’t like crowds, so more for me!
Tried Five Guys in Clayton and PH both, wouldn’t go back to either. Burger was OK, the fries not as good as In-n-Out. Just not worth twice the price. The loud music and the general noise level were headache-inducing, and the crunch crunch of trash underfoot thoroughly unpleasant.
Check out Laura’s shoes. I think she needs to step up her wardrobe when representing the city.
5 guys has a cool Online phone APP that lets you order for a certain time… As far a in & out goes …Yum! Sorry folks, but Nations is nasty; they use Miracle Whip! Ewww
I don’t care what anybody says. The Chemical Cheeseburgers sold at Arco are the best! At least 5 guys didn’t try to build two locations 5 minutes away from each other….
As for 5 Guys vs. In ‘n’ Out – definitely In ‘n’ Out. But let’s not forget good ol’ Fuddrucker’s. Now there’s a burger I’d be happy to shell $$ out for!
mf coffin burger@diggers to die for
Sorry 5 Guys I have a problem with companies that use peanut oil in everything. FYI 1 out of 10 people have a peanut allergy. Just saying!
In and Out is garbage, The fries have to be eaten when warm or they are a waste. The patties are smaller and the whole meal tastes like frozen processed death.
Ive eaten at 5 guys and its a huge difference. The patties are larger, he food tastes like its better. (im sure its still just frozen patties) The cost is significantly cleaper and the fries last longer and have more options.
Plus you can order the burgers with whatever you want, you can literally load the thing with like 15-20 options.
I would much rather eat at 5 guys than in-n-out..
