How do you get a bad Section 8 neighbor out legally?
Happy Friday!
Friendly note to Abercrombie and Fitch @ SVMall … I am not a buyer because your stuff isn’t my style. But I ESPECIALLY am not a buyer because your store reeks of old lady’s perfume whenever I pass by it.
That means that the lasses and laddies that buy from your store smell like old lady’s perfume if they don’t wash their items of purchase.
I remember that stench from several years ago. It still permeates that section of the mall. It would be great it you could sort of deordorize your stock; and, if it actually is because of a perfume — control the number of times it’s sprayed. I’m surprised none of your employees have contacted OSHA.
First? Scary if so. Be sure to enjoy the beer in Todos Santos. This is a rare opportunity for Concord.
Happy Weekend. Enjoy!!!
i was ripped off at pleasant hill recyclers by thier methods unfair practices
Just wondering why some of my Clayton neighbors have candles in their windows at night? Last time I did that was on the night of Sept 11th. Just curious! Thanks
Hey Pet Owners! We just posted a new Q and A blog between pet owners and our board certified veterinary behaviorist, Dr. Meredith Stepita. Dr. Stepita is very passionate about helping pet owners and their pets better work together to help reduce the amount of pets relinquished to shelters or euthanized each year due to behavior issues.

What do you think? Dan Ashley of KGO-Channel-7 … is he wearing a rug (Toupee)?
Benjamin Backman. Clara Dubrow … Listed below are the next four opportunities to kindle your candles. Friday, January 27, 2012
DONATE FRUIT. Feed The Hungry.
Every day I find someone new who is unaware that you may donate the fruit on your tree to local food pantries or the County Food Bank. If you have excess fruit or know a neighbor with a fruit-filled tree, please consider sharing the mission. People are hungry and fruit really matters. Thank you.

Does anyone know when/if Clayton Produce will ever open?
How about the Henry’s/ Sprouts that was supposed to open in WC. it was supposed to go in at the old Co-op site on North Main. Sprouts is awesome, but I hate having to go all the way down to Dublin for those awesome prices.
@Art
“How do you get a bad Section 8 neighbor out legally?”
Go to the county website and there is an area of rules that Section 8 tenants are supposed to follow. If they are breaking any of the rules, report them to the county.

@Sunshine
I keep an led candle on a timer in my bathroom window that is visible from the street. Besides it looking nice, I hope it might help as a deterrent when I’m not home.

I’ve been wondering the same thing for quite some time now. Can’t wait to buy fresh produce within walking distance.

Here’s the response I received about Graffiti, “…..because it’s on private property, it needs to go through Code Enforcement at 925-335-1111″.
REALLY? What if it had a few “N” words and racist slurs, I doubt their response would be the same.
Anyone else get sick of some ad on claycord freezing their browser and install an ad blocker like I just did?
Just 4 hours ago the CCTimes ran a story about a missing Concord Teen, but they have now pulled the story! The link is still there, but it fails to link. Any one know what’s up with that?
Thank you Mayor
http://www.ebmud.com/our-water/water-quality/water-quality-faqs
^ Above is a link to EBMUD. If you scroll to the bottom, it clearly states they add 1 mg of flouride per liter of water in Contra Costa County. Imagine these workers with bucket loads of this crap, pouring it into our drinking/shower water (i cant imagine they are adding it mg at a time) . 98% of Western Europe has outlawed flouridated water (France, Italy etc) you can google this. Flourosis, and most lethal/fatal diseases found in young children, are unknowingly being caused by massive intakes of flouride. Read your toothpaste, doesnt it say a “pea” amount. That would cover 1/4 of your brush. In the commercials i see a large amount covering the whole top. Not only is it sweet in flavor, it comes in fruity flavors and kid designs. Even mothers sometimes have their babies drink special flouridated water purchased at the store. And deeper into the illusion the humans fell. Why is this a big deal? People are dying because of this stuff. Its know to Calcify our Pineal Gland, one of the most important parts of our body. By the time we turn adults, this gland is deemed useless. Most of you reading this have already lost 90% of you Pineals power because of your massive intake of flouride your whole life. There maybe something special about this gland that the “elites” dont want us knowing about…thats a story for another day. For now, its starts with EBMUD and them aiding in slowly killing children and dumbing down society. I contacted them and they said BY LAW they have to add flouride, and that its not their choice. So maybe this has to be taken a step further…………If you have read this much i encourage you to do your own research on the fatal effects of flouride. Remember..drink 7-8 glasses a day people!!!!!!
Does anyone know of any good Sushi restaurants in the area?
@3 Barbara you nailed it with the unholy stench that Abercrombie and Fitch drenches itself with. I feel sorry for the young employees. They probably all have liver spots and brain damage. Toxic perfumes operate in a blind spot of the law. Neither regulated by the USDA or the FDA, they are free to deliver air borne toxins to the unwilling public. But noxious or not, how hard is it to use something that doesn’t STINK?
Stop with all the columns, stick with Claycord news. Please leave all of ContraCosta and beyond out of this site!!
Not positive, but don’t think so. He comes into our store some times on the week-end and his hair looks curlier. Maybe they use a lot of product in it and blow dry it straight when he is on the air. I know my current week-end look is a lot different than what my Monday – Friday corporate look was.
Does it matter?
Anyone know what’s going on with the Keenan / Heinz store? I drove past the store this evening and it looks pretty empty. But the dinosaur is still out front in the parking lot.
Hoping that they’re not closing up shop.
@25; Have you tried Momoyama on Monument Blvd?
@ #21,
It does need to go thru code enforcement. Property owners are responsible for cleaning up their properties. If they don’t, the cities or county can do it at the property owners’ expense. If it had offensive language, you might have to remove the graffiti faster. That would include not only racist language but also language used to define the female and male genitalia among many other words. The property owner would be financially responsible unless the city/county had funds to provide grants for graffiti removal.
@sunshine…people in PA have candles in their windows year round they are hospitality candles welcoming people..(maybe an east coast or mid west thing) it looks great at night driving around and seeing all the candles lit
Have you ever seen a commie drink a glass of water? Vodka. That’s what they drink, isn’t it? Never water? On no account will a commie ever drink water, and not without good reason.
Water. That’s what I’m getting at. Water. Mandrake, water is the source of all life. Seven tenths of this earth’s surface is water. Why, you realize that.. seventy percent of you is water. And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids. You beginning to understand? Mandrake. Mandrake, have you never wondered why I drink only distilled water, or rain water, and only pure grain alcohol? Have you ever heard of a thing called fluoridation? Fluoridation of water? Well, do you now what it is? Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face?
Keenan/Heinz closed several months ago. I stopped in during the closing sale and asked if they might reopen. The lady said it was doubtful since they didn’t get enough business. They still planned to do landscaping.
They went out of business last year.
#29 ~ ~ ~ The Keenan/Heinz store closed quite a few months ago. I wish City of Concord had enough money to buy the dinosaur and put it into a city park……maybe at Baldwin Park near the Senior Center….get it??????
Glad this cold infection I had for the past month is finally over! I got back into working out this past couple nights and it feels good. Time to start in on some bike riding again at night being that it’s not quite as cold as it was for a while there. I hope we get some major rain storms soon though. I’m ready for some snow camping up in the sierras! Hope everyone has a good weekend.
@ Antler. Now that was bad……….Just kidding ,was LMAO!!!! when I read that.
I thought it was just me. I get some Adobe 10 script unresponsive message which i have to abort.
Mayor: Any thoughts…???

@Summer Pepper
I like Happy Roll. There is also one on Clayton near Mt. Mike’s pizza that I thought was good.
Now if I could only find a good Chinese restaurant near Treat/Clayton.
Mandrake do you realize that in addition to flouridating water, why, there are studies underway to flouridate salt, flour, fruit juice, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children’s ice cream. You know when flouridation first began? Nineteen hundred forty-six. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy? It’s incredibly obvious, isn’t it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual.
@Summer Pepper
“Does anyone know of any good Sushi restaurants in the area?”
I like Miraku in Walnut Creek.
@Summer Pepper…..Tatsu Shushi. We have been going there for nine years.
http://walnutcreek.patch.com/listings/tatsu-sushi
@ Summer Pepper,
For Sushi, try Hanabi here in Concord and also Sorabol at Sunvalley Mall which is a Korean/Japanese restaurant. I go there almost every weekend for lunch. My wife likes their sushi rolls.

Has anyone had a physical checkup lately? Do you know that because of Obamacare many of the traditional blood tests that were considered preventative are now not? Well my insurance company is following Obamacare’s new rules. It will not cover Comprehension Metabolic Panel (tests for kidney and liver disease, diabetes, and Hypertension); Thyroid Stimulating Hormone; CBC; and an Urinary Analysis. They will pay for a Lipid Panel, but only if it is billed with the diagnosis of screening for lipid disorders. No more Cholesterol testing without the correct diagnosis. The good news is that all the tests for a variety sexually transmitted diseases will be covered 100%. Old people you just need to stop being a drain on society and take one for the country. Die.
@21.
That graffiti is gang related and the SK means Scrap Killer.
Maybe after another drive by gang shooting the city will get rid of the graffiti.

Hello? Hello, Dimitri? Listen, I can’t hear too well, do you suppose you could turn the music down just a little? Oh, that’s much better. Yes. Fine, I can hear you now, Dimitri. Clear and plain and coming through fine. I’m coming through fine too, eh? Good, then. Well then as you say we’re both coming through fine. Good. Well it’s good that you’re fine and I’m fine. I agree with you. It’s great to be fine. laughs Now then Dimitri. You know how we’ve always talked about the possibility of something going wrong with the bomb. The bomb, Dimitri. The hydrogen bomb. Well now what happened is, one of our base commanders, he had a sort of, well he went a little funny in the head. You know. Just a little… funny. And uh, he went and did a silly thing. Well, I’ll tell you what he did, he ordered his planes… to attack your country. Well let me finish, Dimitri. Let me finish, Dimitri. Well, listen, how do you think I feel about it? Can you imagine how I feel about it, Dimitri? Why do you think I’m calling you? Just to say hello? Of course I like to speak to you. Of course I like to say hello. Not now, but any time, Dimitri. I’m just calling up to tell you something terrible has happened. It’s a friendly call. Of course it’s a friendly call. Listen, if it wasn’t friendly, … you probably wouldn’t have even got it. They will not reach their targets for at least another hour. I am… I am positive, Dimitri. Listen, I’ve been all over this with your ambassador. It is not a trick. Well I’ll tell you. We’d like to give your air staff a complete run down on the targets, the flight plans, and the defensive systems of the planes. Yes! I mean, if we’re unable to recall the planes, then I’d say that, uh, well, we’re just going to have to help you destroy them, Dimitri. I know they’re our boys. Alright, well, listen… who should we call? Who should we call, Dimitri? The people…? Sorry, you faded away there. The People’s Central Air Defense Headquarters. Where is that, Dimitri? In Omsk. Right. Yes. Oh, you’ll call them first, will you? Uh huh. Listen, do you happen to have the phone number on you, Dimitri? What? I see, just ask for Omsk Information. I’m sorry too, Dimitri. I’m very sorry. Alright! You’re sorrier than I am! But I am sorry as well. I am as sorry as you are, Dimitri. Don’t say that you are more sorry than I am, because I am capable of being just as sorry as you are. So we’re both sorry, alright? Alright. Yes he’s right here. Yes, he wants to talk to you. Just a second.
@ Summer Pepper,
We love Matsu Sushi in the Safeway shopping centre on Contra Costa Blvd.
For Chinese, i really like Mann’s in Dana Plaza. (Concord Blvd.@
Landana). Full bar too.
Connie at #33 ~ ~ ~ You’re saying that my dedication to drinking only potato-based vodka is the result of a viciously clever communist marketing scheme????? Dang, they’re good!
Trying to be healthy ~ ~ ~ Nor SHOULD you be getting all those tests covered unless you have presented to your physician with symptoms indicating the tests are warranted! Such changes come under the healthcare bill’s promise of cutting waste and overbilling. Or else you need to change insurance companies? And buy secondary insurance?
As to your advice to old people, we’re working on doing that second by second……but that was still really funny! Hey, if you’ll grab one leg of the Heintz-Keenan dinosaur, Horse’nAround will get the second, I’ll get the third, and I’m pretty sure we’ll have a volunteer for the fourth. We’ll have that thing over near the Senior Center in no time! (Assuming Atticus will let the Attack Cats provide security escort???)

Sushi:
Best by far is Happy Roll in Concord. We know the owner b/c we’ve been there so often over the past 4 years. Simply the best rolls available in the area.
My mail is constantly arriving before 11am now and I wonder if other peoples mail has improved. I used to get my mail after dark. Thanks mail person!
Took BART to the city last night for the first time in about a year. It’s worse than I remembered, it stinks to high heaven. Not a single escalator was working and I have a bad knee right now. At 10:30 p.m. last night we had to stand up cause there was only one rail working. We stopped at Lafayette for 15 minutes. A man and his two young sons played Beatle songs and sang with a kazoo. Hopefully I don’t have to go on there again for quite awhile.
@trying to be healthy.
I’ve not noticed any changes at all except for people with children in their young 20′s who had been dropped at a certain age and then were able to be added back on to policies. What provider do you use?
To the Panda Express lovers that still drive all the way to Pleasant Hill for Panda. I wanted to let you know that there is a Panda located right over Ygnacio in the shopping center at Oak Grove and Citrus. Line usually isn’t too long:)
@bad trade, I know, right? What a waste of space. B&N is OK, but there is never anyplace to sit. Granted DVC students need a place to study, but really, taking up 3 tables?
@ anon #22… Yup. Did all the usual stuff. Latest version of the Flash player, etc. No dice. I did let the Mayor know about it and sent screenshots of the things I was seeing. I did (and still) think it’s an issue with the incoming data from AdChoices / Media math, etc and their external servers and/or code.
I don’t really mind ads, overall. I mean heck, by now I’m sure most folks are used to it, since millions of websites have had ads for so many years. Sure don’t like it when they crash things though. Now running “Ad Blocker Plus” as an add-on, in Firefox 9.0.1.
@Trying to be healthy,
Your insurer dropped those tests. It had nothing to do with healthcare reform. It was a calculated decision so the insurer could make more money.

Our mail delivery is pretty good, same time every day. But we have had a problem with one piece of mail. A lot of homes in the Estates area have the same number. We received a letter for some one with the same number on a different street. We put it out to be re-delivered and it came back the next day. We tried it again, and it returned. We then took it to the post office on East St. and put it the mail slot. It came back in two days. This time I took it to the main post office on Meridian. Just hoping it doesn’t come back again. By the way, the names of the streets are completly different in length and letters and the street name is very legible.
For sushi – Ozora, off of treat and oak grove
Bart does stink and the trains are fillty!!!! Why don’t they transfer some of the monies they pay their employees for doing nothing in to cleaning the trains. Tax payers should have a say since we pay the salaries of the overpopulated employees doing nothing all day. Salaries of over 80,000 for an employee to go to lunch, sit on the internet doing personal business and shopping. Why is this allowed on our $$$$$$???

We like Matsu in Pleasant Hill and Suwa in downtown Concord.
Young Sushi in Martinez is my 2nd go to Sushi joint.
@WOW #64
Did you happen to check if the piece of mail had the additional 4 digits after the 5 digit zip code? Maybe that piece of mail had your 4 digits after the zip and the mail carrier looks at that and not the actual street address? Just a guess on my end as to why the same piece of mail keeps coming back to your address. Again I’m just taking a guess, I could be completely off base.
@ Smokey for Chinese try Green Garden in Pleasant Hill. They have a great lunch special.
Are there any basketball gyms in the area?
spacement, no to the extra 4 digits. I even circled the name of the street for them.
Matsu in PH is not bad.
#29~~~~~ Yes, the Keenan Heinz Company has closed but they still have some fountains they would like to sell. Call the shop # 288-0159 and make an appointment to look at what is left. Let Joe now that Peggert sent you! Joe is the owner. They are trying to rent out the building if anyone is looking for some space.
Daniel, The Big C in Concord has a basketball gym.
For sushi around here, folks go to Bubba’s Beer n’ Bait.

Actually, most get paid around double that. Oh yes. Look at the total pay charts (10 pages!). And these are not even at the executive level!!

Palermo #58 I second your thoughts on the escalators on bart. What is the deal? Escalators seem to take forever to fix. The ones at Embarcadero always seem to be out or undergoing work.
The Chinese can build an airport in a year, but it takes us six months to fix a bart escalator. If we’d all stop putting extreme right Republicans into state office (mainly from down in the Inland Empire) maybe we could actually get some money to improve things.
Re medical coverage: Part of the new plan is that actual preventative care should be free, witness the “well baby” ads from several insurers. But speculative tests, like being mentioned should not be covered. I mean really, there are a million blood tests available and they should all be covered? Sorry but that’s how we got to have the most expensive health care in the world with no better results than lots of other countries. The days are over when your doctor can order everything just in case to keep you happy. Work with your doc and get what you need, not everything under the sun.
Why is it OK for people to bring their pets into stores where food is sold and walk around with them in the cart? That’s nasty, people! Today @ Walmart, I grabbed a cart, went to put my baby’s car seat in it and do a little grocery shopping, only to find several short dog hairs stuck to a sticky mess in the bottom of the cart. Then, I get another, less disgusting cart, go inside the store to see a lady shopping in the food area with a mangy dog sitting in thekid part of the cart. What the heck is wrong with people!!!
Thank you for the sushi restaurant suggestions!
Went over to look at a home on Cape Code way today, and as I went down Clayton Road, turned right on Cape Cod, some wanta be punks had their cars stopped in the street. Traffic on the other side was stopped, I couldn’t move, and the whole street was at a standstill. One of the punks gave me the”what are you going to do about stare” and I blew it off. I’m sixty plus now, but 5 years ago I would have whipped his sorry ass, and his punk friends. As anyone seen these punks in the neighborhood?
@83
Couldn’t agree more.
I just drove back from Pinole taking the Pinole Valley/Alhambra Valley route and every hundred feet or so there was a couch, chair, or pile of garbage. It’s disgusting and depressing to see so much of it along a road that used to be so pretty.
@FLUORIDE IN OUR WATER #24,
And, what about all the other stuff? Plastics, BPA in our bottled water, BPA is affects our estrogen levels, Genetically Modified foods, fruits, vegetables, corn, pesticides, cancer causing substances, chlorine in the water, Bovine Growth Hormone in our milk, chem trails in the sky, aluminum poisoning. Where does one begin in the good fight?
I have been in constant communication with my health care insurer. They have provided me with the following statement “We have started following the Federal Healthcare Reform (Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act) as well as the United States Preventive Services Task Force A & B recommendations for preventive care. The services can not be looked at a preventive/routine care according to the Healthcare Reform Act.”. No more colesterol screening or for diabetes screening. Two tests that screen for common growing problems for older people If you are a man, forget about screening for prostate cancer too. The result of this is if you can pay for these services out of your pocket you can have great preventive care. If you can’t, you are just out of luck.
I happened to be near there today and was happy to hear some really great music between 3-4pm. Does anyone know what the name of this band is – and what was the occassion? Was it all about the band or was it some kind of beer festival, as a friend has posited. I had a 4 legged beast with me so I had to stay on the outskirts but the music was surprisingly good so I had to ask.
What happened to the Queen of the Road/Commuter commenter? Wasn’t she supposed to start around Jan. 16? I see Mister Writer, The Frugal Find, The Garden Girl and The Real Housewife of Claycord. Romper, stomper, bomper, boo.
The “Queen” will be on starting February 13th.
#24 & 88,
The waste product of Aluminum is GOOD for you
Thanks for the post. I’m wondering why I cannot buy fluoride supplements in the Vitamin section of the store.
Connie Dobbs, if you try any preversions, I’ll blow your head off!
Favorite sushi and fresh, fresh, FRESH Japanese Food = Hanabi in Martinez, Morello @ Industrial Way (on the way to Home Depot/Wal-Mart)
Isn’t it amazing that Sheriff Mirakami remains a free man…what a joke…then you add the churches that fail to protect women when they come to the leaders for help or protection against domestic violence. I know someone who had an abusive spouse and she asked the leaders of St. Matthew for help. They referred to counseling but never addressed the abuser instead they kept him on their board while he lives with a woman in in adultry who is also now a member, refuses to support his family forcing them to become homeless. Such hypocrites!
Attorney’s who lie in court and continue to get away with it. Are there any attorney’s out there who will help those fight these unethical attorney’s?
They show up drunk at school auctions, start ugly drunken brawls forcing the school auction to shut down and oh yes, I understand he is or was on the Board of Education for Mt. Diablo. Isn’t that sweet?
Barbara #3, the employees are instructed to spray the clothing and store with their signature perfumes often. So is Hollister. Not going to change, seems to be one of the things their TARGET AUDIENCE likes.
Bart employees don’t work!!!!! They are having fun on our money! They spend more time doing personal business, shopping, lunch, face book, on our money. Do they need as many staff as they have for one manager. Why don’t they look into what their staff is doing on our money. They take more time off than actually work. I know several people that work for bart and brag about how they don’t work and have nothing to do. It’s about time he administrators take a look a what is being done by their employees. I have to work to earn my $$$$. What is HR doing, they need to follow up on their employees.!!!
Just heard several shots fired… Now many sirens
Anyone know whats going on?
Lot’s of police action on Clayton Road. Heard they are closing the road now in front of Domino’s Pizza in Concord. Apparently a person was shot in the Domino’s Pizza parking lot.
Does anyone know about the shooting and police activities going on?
@Trying to be healthy,
If you are concerned, you can easily buy a blood glucose monitor at any drugstore for less than $40 and I believe you can test your cholesterol at home as well. I am a woman, so I have no clue about prostate screening tests.
Just wanted to put out kudos to a local business. Brenden Concord had had several vehicles broken into in the parking garage over past few weeks…I have now confirmed security is patrolling parking garage and area behind as you exit from movie. Thanks to Brenden for handleing your business and giveing your customers a safe and enjoyable time at the movies.
Friends are forwarding to me an official-looking piece giving the phone number we should be calling to place our cell phones on the national “Do Not Call” list. It involves calling a certain number from your cell phone. So this could be a royal hacking attempt….or it could be valid. Anyone know how to cross-check?
After the .gov part of the website given as reference, there is /default.aspx. I don’t recall ever seeing that suffix and am reluctant even to click on the link. (Little Old Lady running paranoid here?)
My 12 daughter has been wanting to do some modeling and acting but i dont want to just take her anywhere and get ripped off. so does anyone know of legit place to go?!?!
I am a caregiver for a company and there is times I work 12 or 14 hour shifts and I get paid just hourly with no overtime pay. shouldnt there be time and a 1/2 for over 8 hours and double time for over 12 hours? Is there a way around not paying you employee to over time if they dont work a full 40 hours in the week?
The fight starts with people actually giving a crap. As you can see, you were the only person who responded to that post. Here is the California Law reguarding “stuff” in our water. Read the last few pages, some crazy things in there no one knows about…because who wants to read that laws right?
California Code of Regulations Title 22, Chapter 15, Article 4.1, §64433
@Summer Pepper: William 56 said Happy Roll in Concord. I am no expert in sushi but my young adult offspring certainly are. They love the place. They are on a budget as well as picky and swear by it.

anyone know what all the sirens are on willow pass, scanner mentioned maltas????????????????????
@annoy, it was a fire at the Willow Pass Mobile Home Park on Malta Circle.
Is it Legal?@106
I had the same problem a few years ago. I remember researching OT laws online and I did deserve the OT pay. I was reimbursed for that time. Good luck!
Okay. I’m gonna get your money for ya. But if you don’t get the President of the United States on that phone, you know what’s gonna happen to you? You’re gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company.

To be safe, type the url yourself rather than clicking a link since it is possible to fake-out a clickable link. As for the ‘aspx’ extension, that’s fine. It’s just a Microsoft format for web pages. It’s not as common as HTML or php but totally legit. Even though it’s Microsoft it should still display on non MS computers and browsers.
@anonmtz – telemarketers need to have access to the list in order to know not to call you. Just registering your number doesn’t magically block you unfortunately. The current system relies on telemarketers to be honest (snort). IIRC, the list they get does not have names attached.
anonmtz at #113 ~ ~ ~ Thank you so much! I did use your link to add our cell phone numbers to the Do Not Call list by entering the information online. The link you gave seemed “more official” than did the partial-information page which had been forwarded to me by some friends.
And, oh yes, I have heard horror stories about people forgetting to disable their roaming feature and then getting hit by all sorts of promotional calls, for which they have to pay the phone company. Thanks again!
To Is It Legal: Calif. employment laws are very strict. You can call an attorney and just talk with him/her for a few minutes to get some insight into whether the overtime rule after eight hours only applies to a 32 or 40 hour work week.
Yep lil kiddies, be sure to register all of your numbers on the do not call list so all the Politicians (which are exempt) can start calling your numbers with their pre-recorded VOTE FOR ME MESSAGES.
Better yet, why even have a landline?
Charles-the-Cat at #117 ~ ~ ~ That was a wonderful post! I need all the techie info anyone is willing to feed to me (one small spoonful at a time. please) because I’m self-taught on this amazing computer creature. Thank you!
Right underneath the tab I clicked to make “Register” official, there was a tab for Telemarketers to use so they could get the list.
Politician at #120 ~ ~ ~ Both politicians AND charities are exempt, and that’s the reason we let our LANDLINE answering machine take all calls. A computerized call usually clicks off the instant my outgoing message begins. But if I can tell there is a REAL person making a charity or political call, I pick up the receiver and very courteously explain that I know it is LEGAL for them to be calling, but that we NEVER take action based on such calls, “So, please would you do me a personal favor and remove this number from your calling lists?” They always agree to do that, and we really have had few who “forget”.
But the reason everyone should have a LANDLINE (even if for secondary use) is that in case of natural disaster or attack, it is documented that the nation’s cell system goes down from overload very quickly, whereas most landline service remains (assuming the wires themselves are not trashed in the crisis). Do you think there is something which could be done to rectify that situation re the cell systems?
Finally took two of the boyz to the “Original Pancake House” this morning. It was really good, large portions, but a bit over-priced. I truly enjoyed the potato pancakes. Have never been successful trying to create those on my own. One boy got strawberry waffle and the other strawberry crepe. My rule for ordering when I take them out is that they can’t order anything I know how to make homemade. Truly happy for that life long rule as the price for bacon and eggs was around 9 buckaroos.
The Cherry Kijafa Crepes are good, and about $10.
Cherry Kijafa Crepes: A Danish favorite? Three delicate crepes filled and topped with Montmorency cherries simmered in our Kijafa sauce and lightly dusted with powdered sugar.
http://www.originalpancakehouse.com/phm_crepes2.htmlcoffee coffe is decent too, and their cream is thick as goo.
A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets.
As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her.
Without missing a beat, she said, “Sir, I need to see your ticket not your stub.”
“… everyone should have a LANDLINE ”
Haven’t had a land line for 14 years, haven’t had a natural disaster or been attacked yet, assuming you don’t count my brother in-law’s chilli.
Re: Everyones advice on Talk about whatever from two or 3 weeks ago about decorating house. I hit up a model home and snapped some pics, Wow – got a bunch of ideas. I’ll post link to pics if anyone’s interested.
HA HA HA @ Go Go. Funny funny. Perfect for Monday morning work break the law tell naughty jokes time. I found the best b-day card for the husband this year. Picture an old fashioned gentleman and a long legged beauty…..
Gentleman: “Can I buy you a cocktail?”
Lady: “Alcohol is bad for my legs.”
Gentleman: “Do they swell?”
Lady: “No. They spread.”
Then the inside of the card says “It’s your Birthday…Spread the word!”
Best card I’ve seen in ages.
PS to Mayor: I am LOVING the spell check
Nope at #125 ~ ~ ~
Anono at #126 ~ ~ ~ Yes, please post what you shot (that was really good thinking on your part)! When our children were really little, we couldn’t afford baby sitters: so our family entertainment was to visit open houses on the weekends to get ideas. That was long before the days of “stagers”, but we still learned a lot about floor plans and mutually-appreciated design ideas. Made it a lot easier to choose our next home and decorate it.
@Grossed Out/Irritated, What ever happened to the “service animals only” law/rule. I agree, too many bring their little rat-sized dogs into stores.
@Politician, best reason to have a landline is for 911. Cell providers are getting better, but most don’t have “Enhanced 911″ which will ID your location. Frequently, if you call 911 from a cell they have no idea where you are unless you tell them specifically. Not always easy in an emergency, or unconscious.
I too have been to multiple stores in the East Bay/SF that hold toothpaste, none of them without flouride. It is a CA law to have in our water though….:(
What do you as her mother think of that field? what do you really know about that field? i think a lot of young girls would like to do that, i did at that age and a lot of people encouraged me to look into it. Knowing what I do now that there are a lot of people in that field that will if they can take advantage of her. Look at what the models and actresses do to their bodies and their lives. one child star that is now and adult has said that hollywood is filled with child sexual predators. modeling has the same rep. remember roman polansky, think about jerry sandusky. it may seem thrilling to one her age but its you as the parent that needs to be level headed and make decisions in her best interest.
Went to a Blues Harmonica show last night at Yoshi’s in Oakland…..Boy it would be great if we had a venue like that in Concord….perhaps in the Todos Santos Park area…..but noooooooooooooo we just keep getting things like the Ghetto Outlet (Grocery Outlet) on Willow Pass and more Seciton 8 housing for the CNWS.
Feckin Irish Mouse….
…you may want to consider Armando’s in, omg, Martinez!
Not always “blues” but usually entertaining and professional level.

Great first line for your next short story…….
“Given that cheese can be described as the rotted bodily fluid of an ungulate…..”
hi peoples, i have been riding a bicycle here for 20= years… the police have messed with me more than a person gets messed with in 5 life times im sure..! my record is spotless.! its bad enough i have to tolerate all the nasty drivers out there.. whats your take on this one. i was riding my bike the other night & as i was making a left on olivera a concord cop car goes thru the intersection prt chicago & olivera then turn his head lights off as he is driving down olivera. i flashed 1 of my 4 my lights at him to warn him of this but he just kept driving by..?
@ irritated,
perhaps he was sneaking up on someone?
He knew his lights were off, like hunting wild game ya have ta sneak up on those bad guys. Some cops really enjoy “the hunt”.
Been learning a bunch about intelligent cars that basically drive themselves, curious how people would feel about adopting that kind of technology (Google says it’s not far off)
produce king on willow pass up by landana is open.they have the best prices in town bar none.ben martinez is the prod

What are the helicopters about, look like they’re over clayton rd, close to kmart etc
And yet another armed robbery a short while ago at Thornwood and Clayton.
anyone else riding an electric scooter in concord?
1873 Landana: Vehicle -vs- car just in on the scanner.
Don’t know where else to post, so I will vent here.
I moved to Concord in 1978. Bought my home off Ayers for a mere 64,000. Beautiful area. In the past three weeks, I have been in the vicinity, within minutes, of the following crimes- shooting at the Elks Lodge on Clayton Rd, ATM Robbery at Wells Fargo on Clayton/Thronwood, Super 8 food and deli robbed on Clayton Rd, Burger King and what ever-ever happened at Farm Bureau and Willow Pass last night, CPD with guns drawn, I can only imagine. I see the same tweekers/homeless on a daily basis, (my commute route) on Clayton Rd, and they bother everyone. In my humble opinion, anyone who gives them a handout is contributing to their demise. I don’t feel safe in a community that I once loved.
I want to thank the East Bay Airporter company of Concord for going far out of their way and helping me in an emergency situation. They were so polite and professional when I needed to go to the airport at the last minute. They charged me much less than the cost of the gas and parking. I made it to my flight with time to spare and was relaxed for the flight. Then, when it was time to come home they were there waiting to pick me up and bring me back home.
Thank you East Bay Airporter! I hope everybody uses them because they were so nice to help me when they didn’t have to. Their number is 925-671-7846 and they have been here in Concord for over 20 years.
Thank you, East Bay Airporter, for your kindness to an old grandma lady.
Did I miss something? just saw on another site the the DAs office dropped charges against the group of Law enforcement officers and they are letting the next level of charges stand??????????????????????/ Any comments
I wonder who or what knocked over part of a rail fence in Arbolado Park (Walnut Creek) recently? It had the look of a car chase aftermath. The fence is at the corner of an old orchard where a path crosses the canal into the park.
For GJEL Blogger:
Self-driving cars that rely too much on GPS and other technology make me very nervous. See: Murphy’s Law
Things like lane-assist and warnings of upcoming hazards are as far as I’d want to go with that.
Aside from emulating a private train cabin, I don’t see any reason for automating individual vehicles. We already have “self-driving” BART trains and such.
