A man was robbed while using the Wells Fargo ATM on Contra Costa Boulevard (across from Golf Club Road) at about 6:20 this morning, according to Pleasant Hill Police.
Police say the suspect approached the victim and demanded cash from the ATM. The suspect was described as a white male, 35-45-years old, 5’6”, 135-pounds, thin build, wearing black clothing and a dark colored motorcycle helmet.
The suspect fled in a 1990’s orange imported vehicle with an unknown amount of money.
Witnesses or anybody with information is asked to contact the Pleasant Hill Police Department investigations Division at 925-288-4630.

Then on to rob someone at Subway, make a day of it. Morons…
Sounds like the same creep that robbed Subway
Sunrise was at 7:18 this morning, so it was still dark n earl, a block away from freeway on ramps. There is ample cover for a bad guy, and that time of morning other people aren’t a problem. Besides not being aware of his surroundings the victim is also, an idiot.
In South Africa thefts have become so rampant that people, Police included, have to decided that the best way to deal with a thief is to “shot to kill”.
That is a motto we need to get started here. Moonbeam was forced by a judge legislating from the bench to reduce the prison population. So he sent the not so dangerous criminals to the county jails who are already over populated. So the counties have let a lot of people out of jail on parole who really should not be on the streets. So what is the best thing to do with thieves? Shot to kill. Saves time and money for everyone. If you happen to be a friend or relative of a thief, you may want to get them to change their ways.
The ATMs at that bank have been targeted as long as I can remember. The bank has been robbed several times as well. Easy freeway access is the problem.I made a conscious choice never to use that bank years ago.
P.Hill ain’t no joke.
5’6, 135, thin build?! Why didn’t this “man” just laugh at him and tell him to get back to the 6th grade? If someone similar tried to rob me, without a gun, they’d be in a world of hurt. Maybe this victim was very elderly…?
@ Why are people so stupid – Your opinion is priceless.
You know if he were and open and carry guy….no he would have to find his bullets, never mind.
“Besides not being aware of his surroundings the victim is also, an idiot.”
You know it’s comments like yours that make me mad. First off you state that there is very little people around at that time to worry about and then you bash the victim. This is Pleasant Hill, a very low crime area.
You weren’t there to see what went down so you should have a little more compassion for the victim. After all it’s HIS money that was stolen and I am sure it’s HE who is shaken up by this horrible experience. Yes, we need to be aware of our surroundings but this could happen to anyone.
So many disgruntled angry people on here……
They should have gave them a couple of sandwiches at Sub Way and they would have wound up in the Hospital with food poising,it would of been an easy arrest
@Why are people so stupid. You’re stupid. You can’t avoid thoings like that. Maybe the victim did see him, but the perp was not a threat at the time. You don’t know until someone says”gimme your dough”
He wouldn’t Rob that way with ah me….
Insert same comment about PHPD Police Chief’s outrageous compensation and Unpleasant Hell becoming a cesspool of crime.
anon #9, you are not very bright are you? You should know, as do the former open carry group and most criminals now, that the open carry of firearms is illegal now, but it will be overturned. Though not a complete deterrent, it was somewhat of one. All that law made me do is illegal conceal carry. Fine and punishment is about the same and still only a misdemeanor.
“All that law made me do is illegal conceal carry.”
So you are carrying an illegally concealed weapon like all the thugs and thieves are. Great, another nimrod who thinks he’s Rambo………
@ Claire.Voyance
Insert same comment about you being a loony.
Dear I hope. It’s getting to that. Last time I was in Joberg the guest house I was at had couple/three Rhodesian ridgebacks that I’m sure would tear up anyone not welcome. It was interesting that as soon as we were introduced by the owner to the dogs they were the friendliest things ever, although I never really pushed it.
For those Concordians thinking about protection, they may want to study the S.A. model. Walled off streets with gates closed after midnight, these kind of dogs on premises and guns (with training of course). Take your neighborhood and fence it off and add gates and guards at the entrances. A map of your area would be worth studying to see the likely routes.
Damn, what’s up with Pleasant Hill? Getting ghetto.
@ #10
Take a drive by that bank during hours of darkness, look at the lighting, surrounding cover for a bad guy. Think to yourself would I stand around in this area with cash in my hand at that time of day? Especially if you were alone. Plan your day to get cash when the sun is out or go to a more secure location with better lighting, and more people. Scum bags are usually cowards when it comes to crowds.
Did he have a terrible experience? YES !
I did when I was working at a gas station, got a .380 auto shoved in my face and was robbed.
Will he be more aware in future of his surroundings? God I hope so.
He will also with luck in future, Think “what could go wrong” and by doing so be smarter than the scum bags. An once he calms down he may just feel like an idiot for stopping to use that ATM at that time of morning.
Hope also that others will read about this, our exchange and themselves THINK before they possibly put themselves in a dangerous situation.
Is it crystal meth that is driving all the armed robberies?
Some people become victims because they fit the profile. They don’t make good decisions. They can’t read the terrain. They end up like fish in a barrel.
I have always disliked the fact that, in most cases, using an ATM requires one to have their back to the direction from which danger would most likely come. I really miss my banks old location. It had a drive-up ATM, so at least some protection was afforded by my vehicle.
@ Jojo Potato # 18… Not sure that these blokes are ready for that level of “taking responsibility”. Nor have the majority been exposed to that level of danger. But, I do agree with you. Some of us (my family) do learn from our past experiences (So. Moz & S.A. for 10yrs) and take precautions, accordingly. (within the law, of course).
Lived in Brazil – 10 foot high cement walls with gate, broken glass embedded in top of cement wall to deter thieves. You still didn’t leave ANYTHING out. I certainly hope it doesn’t come to that.
This is my bank, I’m pretty sure they have cameras. Hope they catch this nimrod. I get my cash from inside the bank and ATM’s. However, I do NOT blame the victim. People are being victimized in broad daylight these days. Scary.
I just can’t figure out how someone this small is managing to intimidate people without even having a weapon. I’m not the biggest guy myself but, this punk would fit in my damn pocket.
The best thing to do if you need cash early in an area not well travelled is to go to Lucky’s, or Safeway. They’re open early in the morning and you can always get cash there instead of going to an ATM early in the a.m.
Why take any chances? If someone is so desperate to rob another, play it safe, keep yourself safe and just hand over the money. Doesn’t matter if they brandish a weapon or not. There’s a lot of chatter on here from people who talk real big. You don’t really know how you are going to respond unless you are in the situation yourself. Don’t get killed over a couple of twenties. It’s certainly not worth dying over. Even goes for you chatterboxes.
Is Concord PD just keeping quiet about downtown muggings? Just a few days ago a very senior citizen was hit and had her purse stolen as she exited a bank right downtown. As I hear it, that’s the third time in a couple of months.
