The following is an update on the dead body investigation in Pleasant Hill.
Pleasant Hill Police Lt. Dan Connelly gives us the information….
On 4/6/2011, at about 1735 Hours, a homeless man reported finding the body of another homeless man in a vacant shed behind a business in the 500 block of Contra Costa Bl. The shed was being used as a temporary shelter by the deceased man as there was a mattress and other personal items inside. The body was examined and there was no obvious sign of trauma or cause of death.
Other homeless people were in the area and questioned as a part of the investigation. No one knew the man or had any information on the cause of death. Some witnesses speculated that it may have been related to a pool of blood that was seen about 1/3 of a mile away in a park. Officers examined the blood but there was no indication that is was related to the deceased man.
The cause of death is unknown at this time, but there does not appear to be any indication of a crime. The deceased man has not yet been identified. An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
The body was found behind Pep-Boys, and the pool of blood was near Chilpancingo Park on Golf Club Road, close to Contra Costa Boulevard.
