Concord man wakes up to a bad surprise

September 1, 2010 9:28 am · 28 comments

A Concord man woke up this morning to find a burglar inside his home on Linden Drive, just before 9am.

When the burglar realized somebody was home, he immediately fled with a dark skinned male, who was in a yellow pick-up truck.

No suspects were captured, and nobody was injured.

Lock your doors & windows!

All the Gun toting crowd should be here any minute telling us how this perp would not have got out alive from their home…Wait for it, wait…

Another example of why everyone should be very, very afraid.

One burglary in a city of 125,000 means that there is a pretty good chance that it will happen to you NEXT!

Thanks for the chuckle, bva

bva – I’m sorry but “very, very afraid”. Seriously? Take a break from the internet and TV news my friend. If a burglary makes you very, very afraid you may be vulnerable to people who will try to exploit your fear (for their own profit or power).

Buy some good locks and a decent alarm system, then just go live your life without being afraid.

Eek…am I irony impared this morning? bva was meant to be funny. Sigh. Yeah, you got me. Time for me to go take a break :-)

Charles, as to the irony impairment, I do not believe it is not a permanent condition because I have read many of your posts.

You should be back to your old facetious self in no time.

I do not believe it is a permanent…..

Whoa! That’s scary. Seems to be happening quite often.

Is there a product that I can put on my windows and doors, so that people get zapped if they try to touch them?

9 E.Con September 1, 2010 at 10:59 am

Scary. I spend lotsa time off that street. My friends car was stolen off his driveway few weeks back right tree too. Come to my house, you won’t make it out alive… right Hmm? Lol

Well it is hot and many people do not have air conditioning so leaving windows open is pretty important.
So, block window with stuff that rattles so if/when someone tries to come in they make a lot of noise. Wind chimes glasses, bottles, spoons, knives, anything that will make a lot of noise if it falls or is disturbed.
Block the window partially open with a piece of wood. Or, my favorite, place wood with nails driven through, sharp ends up, on the floor just below the window. (NOT ADVISED for homes with children, pets or forgetful adults)

Wait no longer, Here it is!

Good thing that low life good for nothin’ bum didn’t come anywhere near my house! why I would have blasted him to kingdom come with one of my many guns in my arsenal of weapons… wait a minute! he might be coming to steal my weapons, then he might turn around and sell them for meth or use them against my fellow “Claycordians”… I suppose if I was to use and kill some intruder the Courts would dismiss my actions and even applaud my vigilance in defending myself, I possitive they wouldn’t lock me up for years just because I killed someone rying to steal my Television… =}

Deport him! What? He’s white? Uhh… Must be on drugs.

“Lock your doors & windows!”

Too much of a concept……..

Too much of a concept……..

Sorry, but it’s my property and my home – I don’t plan on any fool coming through my windows un-announced, so I will be protecting my Castle with force and with “fear for my life” (legal talk). That’s the risk any intruder takes. Second thought, maybe I will make the windows or bars hot with 110v – nice little shock.

Quit blaming victims as if it’s their fault. What kind of a world is this – Put the blame where it belongs.

15 jtkatec September 1, 2010 at 2:48 pm

Fred, I ain’t locking no door and windows.

No baddin is going to make me change my ways. No little miscreant is going to limit my liberties!!

I will and continue to keep my windows open to the cool night air.

And when they come through my window, I will not raise a finger or utter a cry.

I will let the dogs speak for me.

Why, I, I, I would blast that no good varmint right to kingdom-come. I’d shoot ‘em so fulla holes that heed look like swiss cheese. Heed be so fulla led you could use him for a boat anchor. ‘Cause I’m the rootnist, tootnist, fastest-shootnist hombre west of the Pecos!!!!!!!!
Ptoooooie!!!!!

Re: post #1 -right, because robbery is a victimless crime right? I’m sure you also feel that it’s the rape victims fault too.

Get a dog, an alarm, and a gun and learn how to use them. When the criminals learn that they cannot take from you easily, they will leave. Until then, carry on easy target…

19 biggety September 1, 2010 at 4:31 pm

This is becoming a serious problem in that area. I live within a block of this crime, and that is the 3rd house on my block within 9 months that has been burglarized.

Be nice to be able to wake up at 9:00 am on a weekday. Sleeping till 9:00 any day would be nice.
By all means arm yourselves. Having multiple firearms and confident in their use allows me no small piece of mind. Just don’t frickin shoot your kid trying to sneak home late or blow your dog in half with a side-by-side 10 ga. goose gun your grand pappy left you.
A shot fired, can never, ever be taken back.

21 m September 1, 2010 at 5:27 pm

Don’t want to disappoint “Hmm”

I wish the owner would have shot him with his gun… or offered him a hug and coffee over small talk about his childhood and how it’s the owner’s fault.

22 Pet Lover September 1, 2010 at 5:29 pm

I lived on Linden for 10 years. My daughter’s car was stolen while I lived there. I’m so happy to be out of that neighborhood and am happy that I have 2 big, loud dogs that wouldn’t let anybody within 10 feet of my house!

23 Pet Lover September 1, 2010 at 5:30 pm

Does anybody know what block it was? The end nearest the park or the end nearest Magnolia?

24 BGR September 1, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Could of been a horse head in his bed

25 D. Harry September 3, 2010 at 10:20 am

Booby traps that cause injury are not legal & injured criminals can sue you. Alarm systems and good locks are the best deterent. By all means keep a gun, but you should only shoot as a last resort. An armed citizen has to know his limitations.

26 Love and Marriage September 3, 2010 at 11:43 am

There is a yellow pickup parked about a block from there at Victory and Carey. If it’s not there, then it’s the right one for sure, since it’s always there.

27 Trapped September 3, 2010 at 12:27 pm

If you don’t want to be injured, keep your booby out of my trap.

28 David Molstad September 3, 2010 at 12:43 pm

D. Harry

I would just tell the officer I was getting ready to lay new carpet.

Seriously it is a pretty sad society when someone breaks into your home and then can sue you if they get hurt for any reason. Support the idea to shooting first, make sure you drag them all the way inside and then ask questions.
