Another “Spare the Air” day on Thursday

September 1, 2010 11:56 am · 12 comments

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 2, is a Spare the Air Day in the Bay Area.

Concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution are forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow. Hot temperatures and light winds will combine to produce poor air quality for the Bay Area.

To help prevent smog tomorrow, please:

- Carpool or vanpool with friends or co-workers
- Take public transportation
- Telecommute — work from home instead of driving to work
- Link necessary trips and postpone errands if possible

To plan your commute online, visit 511.org.

To monitor current air quality conditions, visit http://www.sparetheair.org

This AirAlert is provided by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
Thank you for doing your part to Spare the Air!

The jack-booted thugs are just trying to soften us up to make it illegal to barbeque on Labor Day. This is a slippery slope sheeple. Next they will decide they don’t like your religion.

Join me in letting those barbecues burn today, and everyday through labor day.

Love how they close the middle bore at the Caldecott on a spare the air day… causing hundreds of cars to back up, spewing greenhouse gases (does anyone still use that term anymore?)…

you can bbq but only if it’s propane.

Probably a stupid question, but can I bbq on spare the air days? Is it just a guideline or will they give out tickets like the “no chimney fire” days?

There were a few more people riding the bus and BART this morning. It was good to see at least a few people caring about the air we all breathe.

On behalf of all of us who have asthma, I thank you!

Thank God. I can hardly breath today. My neighbor has been BBQ’ing all day.

On a whim, I just checked out 511.org. Taking public transportation would turn my 10 minute commute into 40-45 minutes, and cost $4.50-$4.75. Plus, I would have to get up before 4:00am in order to get to work on time, arriving there 45 minutes early. “Spare the Air” or not, I’m driving to work and back!

I’m sorry but the BAAQD “GOD AGENCY” has gone too far. Folks remember this Nov. when you vote to really understand the canidates and what they stand for. They won’t be able to deliver but make sure they are running for the right reasons, this means the one who plans to push the ice ring in concord once peterson is gone!!!!!! This is Concord, do what is right for the people. What a concept.

BAAQMD + SCAG + ABAG = taxation without representation.

The BAAQMD employees have their Toyota Prius’. Do you?

12 Fire up the Wood Smoker September 3, 2010 at 6:12 pm

I have my Yoder Competition grade smoker all ready to go. The whole neighbor hood is bringing their own meat to smoke about 400 pounds of meat. I have lots of hickory, mesquite, apple and cherry wood. We will be smoking a bunch of salmon, pork and beef ribs about 50 chickens 37 beef briskets. First batch goes into the smoker around midnight tonight. and we will be smoking meat and vegies until Monday afternoon. It will be a hell of a block party. plenty of food. Won’t be any hungry people here come Monday night.
