Two men arrested after felony vandalism at Boatwright Fields in the City of Concord

August 27, 2010 19:57 pm · 152 comments

Two men, 23-year-old Clayton resident Anthony Granelli (pictured left) and 21-year-old Pleasant Hill resident Steven Smith (pictured right) were arrested early this morning after police say they caused several thousand dollars worth of damage at Concord’s Boatwright Fields.

Lt. Steve Dyer tells us what damage was done, and how the suspects were arrested….

On 8/27/10 at approximately 0213 hours, CPD Dispatch received multiple calls of a 4 wheel drive truck causing damage to the grounds at Boatwright Fields. Officers arrived on scene and located two subjects with a truck parked on the grass athletic fields.

One of the subjects, 23 year old Clayton resident Anthony Granelli, was seated in the truck and admitted to driving and causing the damage to the grass and sprinkler system. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested for DUI and felony vandalism. The passenger, 21 year old Pleasant Hill resident Steven M. Smith, was arrested for being drunk in public and conspiracy to commit felony vandalism. Granelli’s 1997 Dodge Ram pick-up truck was impounded for 30 days.

There was extensive damage to the grass athletic fields, the sprinkler systems and several metal soccer goal posts. Several thousand dollars of damage occurred during the incident.

Both Granelli and Smith were booked at the Concord City Jail and later transported to the Contra Costa County Sheriffs Department Main Detention Facility in Martinez.

Really? Couldn’t think of anything better to do with their time??? Stupid is as stupid does. :(

Good job, assholes. They should have to lay the grass down by hand and pay to repair everything…no cost to the city.

CPD should hit these drunk reckless morons where it will hurt them. Sell the truck and use the proceeds to pay for the repairs. Even though I think that the 97′ Dodge truck will only fetch a couple hundred bucks…if that!!!

7 Blah Blah blah August 27, 2010 at 8:36 PM

Dude on the left is still wasted in his mug shot!! lmao That is awesomely funny to use later in life. “Honey, you were once arrested? and you did jail time?” As the future wife sees this picture for the first time at their engagement party.

What a couple of douchebags. They should get community service and the service is that they personally restore the park, by hand. No tools. Jackasses.

Hey, guess what your mom and dad are doing! We walk up in that area every morning, that area ( ball fields excluded) is some of the most pristine areas around. We watch Coyotes, Rabbits,Ground Squirrels and Kids.
NOT CARS! They are responsible for the DAMAGE!!!!

Mayor, you have some of clout, set a standard.
The Judge should order the kids and the Parents to rebuild the field and donate their time at the fields! Thanks

ASSHOLES!

14 The Original Anon E. Mouse August 27, 2010 at 8:50 PM

See what happens when you let any two people raise children …except in this case, the parents were brother and sister or possibly 1st cousins….

15 vixen August 27, 2010 at 8:51 PM

Wow!! The guy on the left must be soooo happy about having his truck impounded for the next 30 days.

Really though, 2:30am?? They must not have had to work today

16 it's about the kids August 27, 2010 at 9:06 PM

Of course, I bet when they were doing it, they were only thinking of how much fun they would have sliding around in the grass and mud. I like to off-road myself, so I can understand thinking it would be fun.

But they missed thinking about the kids who play on the field and what it means to them.

Although I think putting them in jail is a good thing, I think it would benefit them much, and should be mandatory, for them to interact close up with the kids whose soccer fields they ruined. They should watch them play, and realize these are real kids. They should be made to do something to benefit the kids and their soccer fields, and watch the kids practice so that they make the connection that they missed.

Then maybe next time they want to do something for their own pleasure, they will think more reasonably about how it will affect others, and be more caring about their judgement.

18 ACC August 27, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Good job a**holes!
Now here’s what you do after you plead guilty, take your next 10 paychecks, if you work (or get the money from your parents since they did such a stellar job of raising you) and give the money to the soccer groups that play on those fields AND reimburse the City for repairs. Then write a letter of apology and post it on Claycord. You effing scumbags. Who the **ck raised you?

19 Sceptical of these idiots becoming real men..... August 27, 2010 at 9:23 PM

#16, I politely disagree with you. I would love to think that these two cretins would benefit from watching children use these fields playing soccer. But somehow the bigger message would go over their heads like a DC-10.
What would really benefit these two nimrods is repairing the field. Working for weeks to undo the damage and repair the lawns and fence that they spent minutes destroying.

20 containerguy August 27, 2010 at 9:33 PM

1st truck should be sold to recoup $$$$ money lost due to vandalism
six months jail time no good time…

21 Earless August 27, 2010 at 9:34 PM

The dude on the right ain’t got no ears!

22 JW August 27, 2010 at 9:36 PM

@TiredOfRudePeople: Yeah everyone messes up. But some of us that have messed up, have tried not to mess it up for other people. What these guys did was stupid and they will pay for it with their time and money. Plus, how can we forget a couple of pretty boy faces like those? Everytime a Claycord reader sees them in public they will either shake their heads, or laugh, or both.

23 davie August 27, 2010 at 9:41 PM

these idiots should be forces to sell the truck and all that money should go to repairing all damage.

24 estates guy August 27, 2010 at 10:04 PM

losers…my kids practice and play soccer there..it is very difficult to get practice fields due to insurance, and we are always scrambling for lack of fieds..sucks that games/practices may now be delayed because of these meth heads

25 Grey Cats August 27, 2010 at 10:04 PM

Hey Earless, I think the dude on the right just has big chipmunk cheeks that hide his ears.

26 SoccerMom August 27, 2010 at 10:12 PM

#16 – I have to politely disagree. My son is a soccer player who benefits from these amazing fields and I woudn’t want either of these two burdens to society anywhere near him or the young men on his team. Nothing positve would come out of “interacting” with these idiots. Good idea, your heart is in the right place, but I don’t want them near my kid.

Hit ‘em where it hurts. Our season starts on 9/11 and we want our fields fixed with the money coming our of THEIR pockets.

27 anonymous August 27, 2010 at 10:19 PM

I just can’t resist commenting on this one. They should not be allowed to drive again until they GROW UP. This is something a 13-14 year old kid would think of doing. 21 and 23??? I’d have to disown them if they were mine.

28 moneypenny August 27, 2010 at 10:26 PM

#22 I would love to think that these two young (cough) men will pay with their time and money, but somehow I think they’ll get a slap on the wrists and let go. Make them backhoe this whole field by hand. These two brainless dweebs should straighten up, stop acting like losers with lobotomies and get a life…..

29 Good Samaritan August 27, 2010 at 10:31 PM

Hey there readers. Lets tone it down with the tasteless inbreeding, meth related remarks and unfair stabs at parenting. You don’t know anything about these two boys other than what you’ve read in this article. So please, stop being so judgmental.

thanks.

30 Candice August 27, 2010 at 10:41 PM

The guy on the left is my ex. This is funny shit!!! I’m not surprised. Talk about a life goin down the toilet!! But don’t blame his parents! They are awesome people!!! Told you that you’d get caught one of these days. Stupid…..what’s even funnier is I got a call from my brother, who lives in Arizona, about this!

Look at these beauties….Don’t look too long their mug’s are lible to hurt your eyes. Anyway someone suggested to sell their truck to re coop the money for the damages??? I don’t think much money can be made off of the truck seeing how they can barely afford a decent hair cut…. They probably don’t/didn’t have a decent truck either.

36 Come on August 27, 2010 at 11:19 PM

Come on #11, you really want people to back off? Apparently you must know these guys if you say they are really nice. And you think it’s cool that people can mess up? Wow, doesn’t say much about you. Would you still feel this way if they did something like this to your property. Adults are supposed to set an example for children, and these two idiots are adults. I don’t care if they were drunk, high, or whatever, there is no excuse for behavior like that.

37 MDSA Commish August 27, 2010 at 11:23 PM

These type of events are unfortunate as in the end there are no winners. I appeal to those in the community who are upset with the situation to consider offering help to the community organizations most affected by the vandalism. Children and families who play in Mt. Diablo Soccer and Diablo Futbol Club depend heavily on Boatwright fields as together they serve nearly 2,400 players. If you would like to make a donation of time or a financial contribution you may contact repairboatwright@mdsoccer.org – While justice will takes its due course, both leagues are at the start of the 2010 fall season and field space is already scarce in Concord and Clayton. Mt. Diablo Soccer – AYSO Region 223 (http://www.mdsoccer.org/), is celebrating 30 years in the community in 2010, has over 1,400 players currently registered in its primary fall program. Diablo Futbol Club (http://www.diablofc.org/) formed as a competitive youth soccer organization in January 2008 through the merger of Diablo Valley Soccer Club (founded in 1991) and Mt. Diablo Soccer League (founded 2001). Diablo FC provides programs for nearly a 1,000 youth soccer players.

38 Mom of a Soccer Player August 27, 2010 at 11:39 PM

We use these fields to play soccer on. My child is young and knows that people should not do things like this. We play A LOT of our games there. It tells the kids that whoever did this does not care about them. It hurts their feelings because they dont understand that it was a few bored and stupid kids who dont have any respect for others. They should be out there, repairing the fields themselves… otherwise, how willl they really know the value of it and not go off and do it again ? We are too easy on kids who start doing this kind of stuff…. whatever happened to consequences ??? If it was my kid… there would not be any bail money coming their way from me. Do the crime… do the time. I dont blame their parents… these kids were adults and made their own decisions…. if they were 10 or even 15… thats a different story. You can try to teach your kids right and wrong, but it comes down to each person has to make their own decisions and face the consequences if they make a poor decision…. whats wrong with that ?

39 Ian August 27, 2010 at 11:42 PM

So…. I assume it was Granelli that won the bet that Smith didn’t think he would do. Now Smith has to cover all the fines and maybe $100 on the side? I would say the mug shots would validate my theory.

40 james August 28, 2010 at 12:33 AM

Hey stupid grin,
Bet your parents are proud. This will certainly give you something to talk about with all your loser friends. You may even be named this months “king of the losers’. If you do work for the city sincerely hope Thursday was your last day. I hear your parents are nice, too bad they got a complete tool like you for a son. I guess now that Candice is gone you don’t have much else to do at 2am. Candice vs Steven…well your choice.Of course I’m sure you weren’t quite “measuring up” or you may have found a better 2am partner. Nice to see your stupid mug here. Now everywhere you go people will know the loser has arrived.

41 D. Ott August 28, 2010 at 12:59 AM

I know the Granelli family. They are idiots. Nice job morons.

42 Unfortunately the Cops caught them August 28, 2010 at 1:42 AM

before their testosterone fueled frenzy of truckmanship culminated in a wild bout of passionate lovemaking with each other.

43 Bug-Etta August 28, 2010 at 6:57 AM

Mr. Mayor,

How about a photo of the truck? Looks like some of us here might offer to buy it if it’s a good one and this could help pay for damages.

44 JC August 28, 2010 at 7:12 AM

I feel sorry for their parents. One being from Clayton i’m sure the parents will be looked at harsher now since Clayton is so small. These are adult kids and something tells me that the one on the right will make it, but the one showing very proud in his mugshot might be the next loser we see hanging out by the 7’11 as we drive down Clayton Road.. Sad. Someone smiling in a mug shot knowing that they have been arrested, knowing that their parents will have to feel shame, …this shows a sad characteristic that can’t easily be changed. I do believe folks that even after this mess is over we will be seeing him again in the court systems..glad i work so that i can pay for his dumb ass. Smith..do your time, go home and get new friends. Granelli..hold your asscheeks tight because prison isn’t to far away for you.

45 theomordha August 28, 2010 at 7:25 AM

Perhaps Concord will get lucky and these two will be redeemed and forgiven. Not likely. Perhaps these two will cease to operate vehicles while intoxicated. Not likely. Perhaps Concord will choose to prosecute these two to the fullest extent of the law. Not likely. The majority continue to believe that young men will make mistakes and that this is part of growing up. Likely. Their actions will continue to inconvenience and cost Concord thousands of dollars. Certainty. It is a shame that Calilfornia law does not allow for a mandatory felony conviction for first time DUI at a level of .02 % BA. The enhancements should also include a no plea bargaining requirement and lifetime loss of driving privililedges, vehicle and vessel ownership, and a complete reimbursement requirement to all parties involved.

47 Anthony Granelli August 28, 2010 at 7:42 AM

I am very happy with the turn out of comments me and my miscreant partner have been receiving. However its a lot easier to talk down to people on a website rather than tell them what you really feel to their face. Me and Steve know what we did was wrong and apologize for it. Thank you for all the comments regarding our parents and the interbreeding nature of their relationship. I can assure you that both of our parents have not had children out of incest. They are wonderful people who will help us through this. Despite popular belief the charges presented to us are inaccurate. The DUI will be dropped; sorry kids, the red look in my eyes was just from pure exhaustion. I may be stupid, but drinking and driving I just wont do. I will be getting my truck back on Monday and the payment for the vehicle shouldn’t be too expensive. As for Steve, the charge should be dropped to drunk in public. I also appreciate all the comments wishing us to watch kids play on the field. Yes, that would be a good punishment, I however don’t see the validity in it. Watching kids play? I’m not saying I’m a heartless person but i don’t think that’ll do justice to the crime. I will pay for the damages done to the field and will do the work if needed to or if sentenced to. If that is the case, I’ll be returning to this website to post when the date will be so all you above can come out to watch. Again i apologize for the complete laps in judgment on my part and my sincerest apologies go especially to the children who use only that field. In the meantime they’re going to have to walk across the street and use a substantially lesser field for the time being. I apologize to all the people who use this area for walking and exercise and have to see the eyesore until it is repaired. I apologize to our parents for the grief we have caused them. And i especially apologize to Steve and for dragging him into a mess that we could have avoided completely. The field will be repaired and time will go on and the kids will have their place to play. If you ever see me on the street and wish to tell me how you feel about this crime, please don’t hesitate. I would love to hear and talk to the people I’ve affected. As for the comment left by Candice. You’re my ex for a reason and thank you for making it that way. If you wanted to help, that wasn’t the way to do it. I don’t consider my life going down the toilet. I’ve got a good job and good friends and family who support me. My life I believe is going pretty well except for this lapse of judgement. At least I don’t drive a vehicle with the title still in name of the ex’s before me. Also I don’t live in a house completely funded by my grandfather. I don’t have to constantly worry about paying for the house that my grandfather owns with the money he pays to me for going to school. Are your HOA’s current? Your arrest in Arizona for indecent exposure last August doesn’t hold much weight but don’t think of yourself better. And lastly Candice, I don’t practically live with a 30 something year old pervert with two children of his own and constantly worry if he’s sleeping around. I hope you are prosperous in your journey and do well. Back to the real people who commented I truly apologize for our actions, wish to do anything we can to reassure the community that it wont happen again and regain public trust.

48 Charmla Dustabot August 28, 2010 at 7:43 AM

The city does a great job of maintaining those fields and it saddens me to see scum like this ruin them just before league starts (plus there is a tournament starting next week, I think). I hope they can be fixed quickly.

I hope these two get a huge bill for the repairs, though I don’t know how they will be able to pay it (and being over 20, I don’t know if they can go after their parents for it). If they damaged a soccer goal, those are pricey!

A**holes.

Having a good time floating down the river in AZ isn’t a big deal. Hello, don’t be angry and post stuff like that because I won’t get back together with you after your psycho stalking me to work and pathetic emails. If I learned anything from you its that your definately not sorry, your laughing about it right now and you will do it again. He’s not a pervert just because he’s older. Atleast he’s not afraid to tell me he loves me. Quit being immature. Stop lying to cover up your bs. Eventually everyone will know your a douche bag and you won’t be able to lie your way out of it. You probably made your mother cry. Do you feel like a man now?

50 b state August 28, 2010 at 8:16 AM

Mr Granelli,

You seem to just sluff this off as a simple speediing violation and “lapse in judgement”
Your comment of “the kids can just play across the street on the other field” – have you ever been out there on a saturday. ALL of those fields are completely full. There are a lot of volounteers that take a lot of time and money (and now need to get more goalposts/grass/sprinklers) because of your “lapse in judgement.
You are a true dirtball and clearly don’t care about other people’s property, fun, or rights.
You should be absolutely ashamed of what you did and I can now see your true character – sluffing this off, then completely trashing your ex-girlfriend – your a real classy guy

51 soccerMom August 28, 2010 at 8:20 AM

One thing I don’t get now that I think about it- aren’t the gates normally padlocked? Did someone forget to padlock them? I never understood why they had such tight security, now I do.

53 G-Sphere August 28, 2010 at 8:27 AM

To Anthony:
You write well. Why is it that you don’t think very well?
You say ” I truly apologize for our actions, wish to do anything we can to reassure the community that it wont happen again and regain public trust.” There is a good way to do that. See to it that you and your miscreant buddy repair the damage. Don’t make me pay for it. Earlier in your diatribe you wrote ” I will pay for the damages done to the field and will do the work if needed to or if sentenced to.” All that says is that you will only be responsible for the damages if you are forced to by law. You are also pretty smug about the legal charges and the cost to recover your vehicle. You apologize a lot in your little soapbox letter, but your anger, your deceit, and your petty bickering come through loud and clear. You are as shallow as a leach field and just about as aromatic.

54 JerrySpringer August 28, 2010 at 8:39 AM

Throwing insults at each other doesn’t make either of your situations better and it sounds like you have your own issues to work on. Plus debating what and who is right and wrong in the comment section of a blog website doesn’t really mean much of anything. Anthony’s going to go through his shit and hopefully learns from his mistake without any lasting damage to his life. Candice is going to go through her shit and hopefully grows from it as well! So… stop with the insults. Doesn’t really help anybody.

At the end of the day, we all grow older and learn more. :-D

Could this be the same guy that destroyed these same fields while they we being built about five years ago? This same area of Boatwright was vandalized when these new fields were added. At that time I’m sure he had a lot more fun because it was all mud with grass seed and plenty of water. The irrigation system was destroyed and several thousand dollars of damage was done. Idiots!

Since you started it, please stop it. Enough-keep your drama to yourself or take it off this public blog.

These 2 young men made a bad choice and decision, now it is time to own it, take responsibility and fix it. I do hope you mean it Anthony and you need to stop it with Candice too.

Well, residents from Clayton and Pleasant Hill? Hmmm, no comment as a Concord resident. We just want to see you pay for the repairs and clean up, serve your time, pay your fines and not ever do this again. Yes you have hurt children who don’t understand why adults would do such damage.

63 City Girl August 28, 2010 at 10:50 AM

#47 Anthony – I appreciated your comment. Did you really write that yourself? or did you have help? The reason I ask is because is because it is rather articulate with only a typo or two. I would expect something less from someone like you. If your life is truly going well and you are truly a relatively upstanding citizen, what the heck possessed you to do something so stupid, rude, disrespectful, thoughtless, inconsiderate and damaging to children? What were you thinking? What do you think is an appropriate sentence? What can you do NOW to begin to rectify the situation so that perhaps you and your friend can begin the healing process and, at least, begin the process of redemption from the public?

Although your actions were outrageous, I am not judging you. I am asking honest, legitimate and appropriate questions and hope you will answer them. I believe you two can redeem yourselves if you begin now, before conviction and sentencing. It is not too late, have you and your friend considered going to college?

Thank you, and I look forward to receiving your response.

64 City Girl August 28, 2010 at 10:57 AM

OH! and Anthony, do yourself a favor–please do NOT respond to Candice”s comments. This is not the time or place.

@ tonys side..
nice pickin up for your friend – I am sure every single person who is critical of your boy got in a pickup with a friend and caused thousands of damages to a field, then “laughed” it off like it’s not that big of a deal
I am sure we all participated in a felony or two when we were young (or 23 like tony). Who hasn’t destroyed fields that little kids play on? Who hasn’t drove drunk and got arrested – ha – all good fun?
Just a minor mishap right – just a couple of guys havin fun – we should lay off

Are you kidding me?? I had fun when I was younger, but was never a dirtball like these two winners. Your parents must be reallll proud of you now. I am sure the Granelli parents are very excited about there 23 year old son right now – looks like they’ve done a bang up job raising him.
And, you know what, just like Tony says “no big deal, the kids can just walk across the street and use the other field”
…and, from the sounds of things, looks like TOny picks girls well too.
Bad choices all around….

If convicted, sentence them to community cleanup and 4 hours every weekend in a stockades in Todos Santos Plaza. Sell eggs and water balloons for $1.00 each to throw at them to raise money for repairs.

Extremely unfortunate. My kid had a game scheduled there tomorrow and we were forced to scramble to find a replacement field. Stupid, dumb, and thoughtless. Can’t say I wasnt involved in this kind of crap growing up. Pay for the damage, learn from the stupidity and move on with life. The parents have nothying to do with this…good people.

73 Tera August 28, 2010 at 12:13 PM

Anthony, if you did really type the above appology, I have some questions for you. You say, “The DUI will be dropped; sorry kids, the red look in my eyes was just from pure exhaustion.” Really?? So if you weren’t drunk, then why the smile? Did you honestly think that a stunt like this was funny? People can say over and over again that “KIDS do stupid things”, but you and your buddy are not kids. You are adults who should have thought before your actions. You say, ” I may be stupid, but drinking and driving I just wont do. I will be getting my truck back on Monday and the payment for the vehicle shouldn’t be too expensive. ” So what happens once the truck is back in your possession? Do you plan on doing something like this again? You had to mention that the payment “shouldn’t be too expensive”. If it was, would you feel more remorseful? You did appologize, but I’m having a hard time thinking that it was very sincere. If you want to spin around in a truck in the mud, there are plenty of empty fields, lots, etc. where you could do that and not ruin it for a bunch of kids. Heck, if you wanted, you could have gone to K-Mart and paid $5.00 for the monster bus ride. I’m sure it would have been cheaper than all the expenses you’re facing now. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/incontracosta/detail?entry_id=70479

74 City Girl August 28, 2010 at 12:54 PM

Anthony, you do sound rather callous in your apology above. HOWEVER, I am willing to give you a chance to further explain yourself and your apology before I pass judgment. I hope that you will not take this situation less seriously if you do get your truck back on Monday, if the DUI charges are dropped, if the fines are minimal or if the field opens soon.

Like I said, you do sound callous in your apology, but I hope and pray that after you have had more time to ponder the seriousness of your actions, that you will change the tone of your voice/words and provide a more thorough and detailed apology to all who deserve it especially the children, your parents, and the general public.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

79 Anthony for mayor! August 28, 2010 at 1:25 PM

@Anthony- You are a boss!! All these people are on here bagging on you as if it is the end of the world for their childrens soccer career. Soccer is quite possibly the worst sport to play! Try them out for a real sport like football or baseball! All I can say is people get over it and Anthony keep your head up and keep doing what you’re doing! Also what your truck 4×4? Did it have a lift? If so we need to go wheeling sometime!

@Candice- you are the most ridiculous excuse for a human! I laugh at people like you! Anthony’s biggest mistake he made was dating you not ruining the stupid soccer fields! A 30 year old guy? I don’t know how old you are but I’m guessing around 23, so sorry step mom! we all know your life sucks… Your parents must be real happy with your relationship! Bottom line you’re a dumb b****!

ANTHONY FOR MAYOR!!!!!

81 cvhsgradof10 August 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM

guys its not a big deal. no one really cares about soccer anyways except for the nasty spoiled kids who play it, and the parents who have nothing better to do. i would rather use those fields as a four wheel drive area anyways. big deal the grass got ripped up and a fence knocked over. the city of concord needs something to spend its money on other then the salaries of the idiots who run it.

Truly a dirtbag
And even better he wrote his name and confession on this blog!!! He can’t plead not guilty to the judge, he has already confessed
Not only a dirtbag but not real bright
If he says it wasn’t his words the mayor can submit his ip address

92 lewis925 August 28, 2010 at 4:20 PM

Posting comments on a public online forum, is always a good idea when you

Gloat, boast and apologize about pending criminal felony charges

Not to mention admitting to the police upon arrival what they had done, not to mention the breath test they administer at the police station documenting the BAC, not to mention the damage that was done to a public facility,

There isn’t a judge in the land who rewards a bragging kid who vandalized city property at a kids sports park, in my experience the courts system takes the word of the 5 sober police units that responded, arrested and documented the incident,

Way to go and good luck with all that

93 Disappointed August 28, 2010 at 4:22 PM

Mr Granelli, In as much as you appear to be sorry for your actions…the mere fact that you say you were not drunk, this is even more disheartening…you made such a sad, irresponsible decision sober? Your actions have a direct impact on two soccer leagues and over 2000 participants. Your few minutes of fun will have a direct impact on others for months to come. The goal you hit is destroyed! The replacement costs of this goal is an expense that will be passed along to you. The field is now damaged and unplayable until the trenches you placed in the fields are repaired and are given time to recover…this will NOT happen overnight. Again, the costs incurred for these repairs will be handed to you. I hope you enjoyed yourself and hopefully you will spend a lot of time thinking about your actions as you make restitution to the soccer leagues, city and the courts.

94 I call BS August 28, 2010 at 4:35 PM

95 Hmmmm August 28, 2010 at 4:50 PM

Doesn’t the guy on the right work for the City of Concord in the parks division? That would explain how they got into the fields at night. I believe they require a key or keycode to access when they are locked at night.

97 moneypenny August 28, 2010 at 5:13 PM

What an absolute drama!! Anthony I surely hope that you did learn something from this and you are indeed sorry for your actions.

#79 You are a nimrod. Anthony is not the boss. He apologized because he got caught. Don’t idolize those that are destructive and immature.
You give a bad name to those that own trucks. The stereotype of a 4 wheelin’, IQ of 20 and a huge forehead prevails. Get a life……

98 I feel sorry for Mr. Mayor August 28, 2010 at 5:39 PM

Sorry you have to read through this crap.

99 Neighbor August 28, 2010 at 5:58 PM

Anthony, I happen to be one of your neighbors, and although we have never met, I have been watching you speed up and down the street for years now. I have discussed this with your father(whom you still live with) about just taking it down a notch with children and such in the neighborhood. My requests have fallen on deaf ears and now this. Justification….”I was not drunk and the red look in my eyes was from pure exhaustion”. I suppose the police are stupid and they just so happen to add that charge to the list of offenses(stupid sh*t you did) because the DA loves it when the police make his/her job harder, let alone there must have been some suspicion that you were possibly intoxicated….C’mon not even a couple of drinks ??? Which makes you an even bigger fool if you were perfectly sober. Leave the Ex GF out of the equation , stand up like a man and say ” I Fu*ked Up, I apologize to the community, and I will do whatever it takes to make it right” Don’t taunt the people on Claycord because YOU messed up. I understand there are a lot of unnecessary comments, but put your big girl panties on, keep your mouth shut, and understand and accept that what you did sober or drunk was wrong.

100 what the heck August 28, 2010 at 6:21 PM

What is the problem with boys I mean men who go to De la Salle. Just because they have the money to pay the tuition there is definetly something lacking in their cirriculum. I have met other boys from there and they all fit the same mold. They think they are the best, filthy mouths, disrespect and no common sense. Have no respect for woman or anyone else. Great job hope you put it on your job applications!

The City spends waaay too much money building and maintaining soccer fields. Few adults, other than Mexicans, play soccer so for the most part these fields are just where clueless parents park their kids a few hours a week so they can avoid having to play with them themselves. Parents should play with their kids!

I think we’d all be better off if all of those soccer fields were turned into motocross tracks anyway.

118 "30ish pervert with 2 kids" August 29, 2010 at 12:28 AM

@anthony. I’ve tolerated you stalking my girlfriend, I’ve tolerated you leaving tearsoaked love letters on her car, roses on her car, I’ve even tolerated you stalking her and following her to work, I will not however tolerate you bringing my 2 wonderfull children into this immature drama. Ever talk about my kids again and you will end up looking worse than the field or fence. Understand. As for Candice…she is a wonderfull person that you burned and cheated on and your lucky she didn’t cut your nuts off. As for the rest of the people on here, I personally have kids and will volunteer my time to help fix the fields with you, this guy will never get it done…he spends most of his time and money at the Clayton Club wasting time and money. He’s a resal winner, he lost his licence and has 2warrants in other states. He is a real winner! You never deserved Candice let alone your own hand. I feel embarrassed for your parents.

119 Just Say No to Drugs August 29, 2010 at 6:33 AM

My Glaucoma eye-drops cause me to look stoned all the time (my eyes get red); the upside is: the eye-drops change my eye color; make my eyes itchy, and my lashes grow nice and long– saves a ton on Mascara! Not everybody with red eye is stoned!

120 Anthony Granelli Hater August 29, 2010 at 8:27 AM

This guy should be thrown in prison for the rest of his life. In addition to that his parents should also be thrown in jail, their house confiscated, sold, and proceeds used to care for the soccer fields into perpetuity.

As for the former eagle scout, I hope this new information follows him around on the internet and he is unable to get any gainful employment for the rest of his life.

121 road king August 29, 2010 at 8:31 AM

I think it’s hilarious these douche (that’s how you spell it, #62) bags think the situation would be so much better if they were perceived to be sober.

Apologizing is nice but, being sincere and making it right is the right thing to do.

124 Mom of 3 August 29, 2010 at 10:50 AM

I think the point is, where they go to school does not play into their actions or choices in behavior. Let us all remember this, I recall many bashing a particular school not to long ago. No I do not have students at CVHS or DLS. I have good friends with students at both though.

125 misfire August 29, 2010 at 11:05 AM

To the 2 boys pictured above- I’m sure if someone vandalized and destroyed something important to you it wouldn’t be nearly as funny as you think. I understand having fun when it doesn’t effect others negatively. I hope you can find other outlets for all your energy. Anthony’s response to Candice was out of line. She even defended his parents. Granted she might have started it but your trashing her was uncalled for. Another lapse in judgement. You apologized for what you did (not sincere in the slightest) and then went to trash talking. Your obviously angry because your ex is dating someone else.
Get over it. Grow up.
I hope the punishment is severe.

130 Huh August 29, 2010 at 12:01 PM

131 City Girl August 29, 2010 at 12:22 PM

“30ish pervert” #118 – STOP!!!!!!!!! You are just as immature as Candice and Anthony except you are a 30-YEAR-OLD FATHER OF TWO!!!!!!! Just STOP!!! You are the one dragging your children into the drama. Try to set the better example! Go take care of your children!! Making physical threats is bad enough, but putting them in writing is a zillion times more FOOLISH!!!

I see that Anthony has not responded further, so don’t add fuel to the fire!! Anthony DON’T even acknowledge his comment.

132 Mom 110 August 29, 2010 at 12:37 PM

Mom of 3- I don’t have kids at DLS either, but it upsets me when idiots make generalizations such as:

“I have met other boys from there and they all fit the same mold. They think they are the best, filthy mouths, disrespect and no common sense. Have no respect for woman or anyone else.”

So everyone that goes there has no respect for women, has filthy mouths and no common sense? Really? There seemed to be some pretty deep seeded anger here if you ask me. We should not be bashing or making generalizations regarding any school. I absolutely agree that where one goes to school should not play into his actions, this man’s (or woman’s) words/generaliztions just really annoyed me. Does he know every single young man that has come out of DLS? I know four boys attending now and my neighbor just graduated- non a single one of these young men fit his description. While I’m not claiming any of these young men to be perfect, I can guarantee none of them would show this sort of disrespect.

Ya know, For some reason I have doubts that Granelli, The Girl, or the 30 year old guy are really ho they say that they are. Granted, the comments were a interesting read but for some reason I have my doubts. You would have enough sense after committing a crime not to discuss it publically. I know an attorney did not tell him to do that. Plus, could it be considered slander to publically insult and threaten eachother? I am not trying to ruin anyone’s fun, but I am just sayin’.

With that being said if there were any places around town that we could four wheel and have fun this sort of thing would not happen. so everybody chill out and everything will be resolved by our fine justice system, none of your whining and crying and being at each others throats is going to help. Woot! kick @$$ holla later steve and tony

Sounds like this Clayton guy has some angry ex’s at the Clayton Club. It also sounds like this Anthony guy is posting a lot of this stuff about his ex or just called up his buddies to do it, how did that conversation go? “guys, she hurt my feelings on Claycord.com, please go defend me”. Birds of a feather flock together. Seems to me that his friends are just as idiotic as him. Poor Steve.

148 clayton club Loyal patron August 29, 2010 at 10:20 PM

I find it Hilarious that everyone is ripping on clayton and Candice, has everyone forgotten the point of what happened here? These idiots ripped up a kids field and destroyed a fence. As for Clayton Christopherson, he is a nice guy who is friendly to all, he has put up with more immature drama at that club and personally defused many arguments and drunken idiots(like anthony) than many people would do in a lifetime. He also is very protective of his children and a good father, and who wouldn’t be protective of his kids? Also, those of us who go there often all know he does not get “free alchohol” and neither does Candice. Candice is also a good hearted person who is friendly to many people. She is far from a tramp, and her lack of judgement with this guy Anthony…well chalk it up to lessons learned in life. She even defended his parents, so obviously we know she’s not immature. Her dating a slightly older man is obviously a better choice compared to this 23 year old who acts like he’s 16.

Granelli is that guy that thinks his shit don’t stink well how’s it feel now that your rolling in it???
How hard is it to drive a few hours away and go wheeling at places that are made for it or at least go somewhere where you aren’t ruining it for others.

Oh and #102 the guy that owns that truck is not friends with Granelli, he actually bought that truck from him and has found out that it is a total POS.

151 That guy September 3, 2010 at 12:00 AM

I know both these guys, and they’re both complete idiots, Tony more than Steve… They both deserve the maximum punishment allowable for this offense… It sickens me that Tony has been allowed out soon enough to have already posted a reply to this article… Unfortunately his truck would only fetch a couple hundred bucks which would not make a dent in the cost of the damage, which I have seen first hand… It should be crushed at his expense just to prove a point… I must say Tony, your apology was halfway decent until you started talking at your ex… Idiot… I already confronted you once about spinning donuts in inappropriate places in that truck… Someone ought to kill you off before you do something that puts someone elses life in jeopardy… Idiot…
