Summer in CLAYCORD, love it or hate it?

Who likes this weird summer weather? Cold one day, hot the next. Usually, by now, it seems like every day is over 100-degrees, but I can’t remember the last 100-degree day we had in CLAYCORD.

As long as my tomatoes ripen up, it can stay cool. Those blast-furnace days are way over-rated.

HATE IT!!!!!

Brrr! I love it. When it gets above 85, I end up hiding with the AC. With this weather I can get out for a waddle around the neighborhood. It is even cooler in Martinez, and I can enjoy the Bay breeze. Still, I lived in the northwest for a long time, so any day without snow is a good day.

I’m loving the cooler summer – especially when I get my PG&E bill!

5 adingoatemybaby July 27, 2010 at 10:34 AM

It’s great. Cool summer nights are the best.

I’m with jtkatec! As long as my garden is doing well, I can do without the 100 degree days–although mid 70′s might be nice!

Give me SUN, give me HOT. It was freezing last night. Besides the crazy heat wave about 3 years ago, the summers have cooled consistently over the last 6 years, ever since we put in a pool. Mother Nature is on my $hit list right now!!

Loving this weather! I love going for walks on my lunch breaks but that’s not doable when it’s 90+ degrees outside. This weather is perfect!

I also love that you have to register to leave comments now! Already seems to be cutting down on the riff-raff.

I love it, still warm enough to enjoy the summer but cool enough to sleep at night without having to run the AC into the ground. So far, it has been a great summer.

britgeekgal – nice thinking about the lower PG&E bills. That makes this one more feel good story for the week.

But, think about this, with less A/C running this summer will PG&E raise rates in the coming months to offset the loss in revenues?

I was in Martinez last night photographing a softball tournament and it was FREEZING! The away teams were asking me to go home and get them some blankets! Hate it! I’ll take the heat anyday (ideal for me is 87).
If us Californians dressed for it, it would be fine (we wear shorts and T-shirts in 60 degree weather and complain lol…)

The older I get the more I like the cooler summers. My daughters would surely disagree – they like the heat.

COOL!

I grew up in San Pablo very close to the Bay, summers there were usually mild with the occasional hot spell. That is what this summer has reminded me of. Oh sure I finally get more used to the hot summers… nah, I’m not complaining. Its all good.

I moved to Concord from Alameda last summer, in part, for the hot Summer weather. So, I hate this too cold weather.

17 Eyemsue July 27, 2010 at 12:41 PM

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I wish it would RAIN!

18 Monte Katt July 27, 2010 at 12:45 PM

There is always Indian Summer.

19 Travinski July 27, 2010 at 1:34 PM

Love it too. 100-degree days are horrible, especially when it’s 90 at 10pm – can’t sleep. Nature’s air conditioner (the marine layer) rocks and I’m glad Claycord is finally getting some of that action.

I love this weather. Although…I can’t help but wonder if this is payment for an upcoming Indian Summer. I’ve lived through many miserable Octobers! And I’m not just talking baseball!

21 Gina July 27, 2010 at 3:09 PM

It’s too cold for me! I like it to be hot so I can go swimming.

22 Shadowgirl July 27, 2010 at 3:12 PM

I prefer somewhere in the mid 80′s. Not a big fan of the kind of weather we had last night and this morning especially in July.

23 bosco July 27, 2010 at 3:42 PM

My vegetables don’t like this cold weather!

24 Pat P July 27, 2010 at 4:47 PM

I love it. I don’t like hot weather. However, I expect that we will get the hot weather later on this year.

25 A-NON July 27, 2010 at 6:59 PM

Hate it. I feel like I’m getting a cold. All the AM BART passengers are already coughing and sneezing as if it’s the middle of winter.

26 Shasta Daisy July 27, 2010 at 8:12 PM

I HATE THIS COOL WEATHER….I love the heat!!!

27 Not Anon July 27, 2010 at 8:54 PM

I love the cool weather. 70-75 is perfect. Love the evenings that get down in the 50′s in the early morning hours. It is nice to have all the windows open all night.
I find it funny that a couple months ago people were complaining that they were tired of the rain, now we have some complaining that they want it to rain.

28 Anonymous July 27, 2010 at 9:11 PM

Is there any such thing as weather that people won’t complain about?

29 NiteMom July 28, 2010 at 4:31 AM

ugh, after living in the NC heat and humidity…125 with the heat indexes….I LOVE this weather. I love having to wear a jacket at night, the kids able to play any time of the day, its perfect. This, to me, is paradise weather.

Indian summer is like a woman. Ripe, hotly passionate, but fickle, she comes and goes as she pleases so that one is never sure whether she will come at all, nor for how long she will stay.

31 Ray July 28, 2010 at 8:16 AM

Love the marine influence and that “Finger of Fog” that starts at the Golden Gate.

32 IRC July 28, 2010 at 9:16 AM

Anything over 75° is too hot. Last year was nearly unbearable. Even at midnight it was over 80° in the house for weeks on end. We couldn’t even get to sleep. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars for electricity spent every month just to run the AC. This year, so far, it has been as hot as I would ever want it to get. I can survive this though. I wish we could get more El Niño years.

Must be the “Global Warming”
