Clayton PD: Serial robbers have been arrested, all attend Clayton Valley High

July 14, 2010 10:52 am · 207 comments

Good news! Clayton Police Chief Dan Lawrence has confirmed the news that we’ve been talking about since last night. All four kids who police say are responsible for several robberies around the City of Clayton in the last nice days have been taken into custody.

Here’s the official word from the Clayton Police….

Because of our community’s excellent communication system (social network sites, emails) we received an email from a community resident indicating that they felt a particular person could be involved.

This information led to the arrest of one juvenile suspect, and with the arrest, the development of three additional juvenile suspects was accomplished.

All of the suspects attend Clayton Valley High School and are on the football team. Two of the suspects are Clayton residents and two are Concord residents.

We can not reveal the suspects name or other info that would identify them in the public.

The investigation is on-going, however, we feel that these serious criminal cases have been solved and the suspects will be held accountable.

Great job to the Clayton Police Department, and to the anonymous person who sent them the tip that led to the arrests!

Hahahaha punks. GJ 5-0.

2 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:07 am

That is great news. I hope they don’t just slap the hands of these kids. Make them pay. Do a lot of street clean up in the hot sun. Clean toilets. Something that makes them feel embarrassed. Good job Clayton PD

3 Josh - Concord July 14, 2010 at 11:08 am

That football team just got destroyed, seeing as they will all prob get kicked off.. not that clayton high had a good team to begin with hehe

4 ClaytonGal July 14, 2010 at 11:09 am

Oh my…shame on them for doing this.

Please remember not all the boys on the football team are bad!

5 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:11 am

Just like the sweater stealers from the women’s soccer team at CVHS. I wonder whose daddy will get them off easy for this one.

What kind of athletic program is CVHS running over there, seems like a disproportinate number of criminals.

6 John July 14, 2010 at 11:12 am

“All of the suspects attend Clayton Valley High School and are on the football team.”

NO real suprise here. The hotshot, big time jocks get all the good looking girls in high school & think they can run the world.. punks – all of them…have fun in Juvi… eat S**T & die.

7 anonemoose July 14, 2010 at 11:13 am

support high school sports, it builds character criminals

8 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:15 am

From school to Prison!

9 Claycord fan. July 14, 2010 at 11:16 am

I’m sure high school kids talk and talk. Will be good to see their myspace or facebook pages. Great job Clayton and Concord Police and CLAYCORD. Love it!

10 theomordha July 14, 2010 at 11:18 am

Let us hope that the parents of these criminals are made to pay for their children’s actions. The cost should be in cash to offset the damage to each of the burglarized citizens and to the PD and juidicial process to investigate and adjudicate this. While these may be good kids, their actions cost money.

11 Ihatearrogantbrats July 14, 2010 at 11:19 am

Sooooooo Clayton Valley High just lost four football players? Good.

12 Oliver Klosov July 14, 2010 at 11:22 am

Great news! I’m glad they were caught by the police because anyone I catch burglarizing me is going to be pumped full of lead.

13 Just A Mom July 14, 2010 at 11:24 am

I agree #2!! Kids these days are not having to be accountable for their actions. Since everyone’s so PC, kids get away w/murder almost!

Good job Clayton PD & thanks for the community in your help!

14 miss ♥ priss July 14, 2010 at 11:25 am

**sigh of relief**
i hope they learn a lesson from this.

15 Ha Ha Clayton July 14, 2010 at 11:25 am

Ha Ha to all you Clayton residence that kept saying they must have been from Concord. Stop being so quick to judge.

16 Dana Hills Have Eyes July 14, 2010 at 11:26 am

Their parents should be shunned from our community :( (((( Please move…..now!

17 9 deuce daisy July 14, 2010 at 11:26 am

Well, looks like the jocks are still the same jerks they were 20-sumthin years ago, when I was @ CV.

18 Brian July 14, 2010 at 11:26 am

LOL @ #6 John…time to leave your own high school years behind you.

19 Ian July 14, 2010 at 11:28 am

theomrdha
Are you kidding??? These may be good kids????
What the hell defines a good kid for you???

20 9 deuce daisy July 14, 2010 at 11:29 am

Yes, #9, playing sports does build character. Some kids think they are above being held responsible for their actions, though. Personally, I think this is what happens when kids get bored and aren’t challenged to be better people.

Oh, who am I kidding? I blame the parents!

/ snark

21 anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:30 am

Kudos to the social network persons that took the time to come upfront…and extra kudos to the law officers that handled this so quickly….they never seem to get the praise they deserve…..

22 Ian July 14, 2010 at 11:32 am

I hope the parents have to pay to replace every single item stolen and that these kids are locked up at least till 18, which, given they’re in high school, isn’t long enough. I also hope expulsion will follow and not allowed to attend ANY CVHS functions including proms, grad night, etc.

23 GoGo Gomez July 14, 2010 at 11:33 am

If that was my kid MY FOOT WOULD BE SOOO FAR UP THE KIDS BUTT I WOULD BE WALKING AROUND WITH THEM!
Great work PD!

24 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:35 am

haha the first one snitched on the rest. stupid little klayton kats

25 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:37 am

#10 -

The parents are responsible for paying any restitution fines that are put on the juveniles. On top of that they are sent a bill for everyday their child spends in juvenile hall. And since it seems at least one of these kids come from an affluent family, I doubt he will be able to get a public defender. Let’s just hope they keep these kids locked up so the parents have to pay. Then maybe they will keep a better eye on their kids.

26 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:38 am

Good job to all for catching these little brats. Yes I agree the boys and their parents need to compensate the victims. What a shame they think it is ok to steal.

27 Just A Dad July 14, 2010 at 11:43 am

This is excellent news. My kids were aware of what was going on and felt threatened. Bravo to our community and those trying to make it safe for all.

28 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:48 am

#10 Really?? While they maybe GOOD kids? These boys are going to be juniors at CVHS. They play multiple sports at CVHS, all workout and are physically fit. They knocked the living day lights out of kids as young as 11 years old. Can you only imagine walking down the street at that age and having (3-4) 16-17 year old that work out stalk you and then jump out of a car and attack you!!! NO MORE THAT’S IT!! These kids parents have $$$ and they will get their kids off with a slap on the hand. I URGE everyone to contact Pat Middendorf / Athletic Director & Herc Pardi football coach to make sure these kids NEVER represent CVHS ever again.
PM258@aol.com & herc_ pardi @hotmail.com (publicly posted on CVHS web page) And to the kids that were jumped this is not your fault and know the community is behind you all 100%.

29 Me July 14, 2010 at 11:48 am

Impound all the cars involved. Expulsion out of the district. Send them to Pitt High. Maybe they won’t be so tough over there!

30 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:50 am

This is wonderful news!! Great job Clayton PD and thanks to the tipster and to the 1st guy that snitch on his buddies. Glad these guys are going to have to face up to their crimes.

31 miss ♥ priss July 14, 2010 at 11:51 am

to ‘ha ha clayton’, two were from concord, one was from clayton.

@ian, while i agree, they won’t suffer any school repercussions. Since it did not take place during school session, it is irrelevant to the school. Public schools are what they are.

32 KJ July 14, 2010 at 11:52 am

I wonder if a real life experience would wake them up to what’s really essential in life (an iPod or iPhone is NOT essential). Perhaps a few weeks in Haiti helping people rebuild their homes will change their behavior, obviously football failed in that regard.

33 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 11:53 am

I bet they just get stern talking to, just like the “justice” handed out to the sweater stealers.

34 concordmom July 14, 2010 at 11:55 am

If my kid did that and I as the parent was held financially responsible, you better believe my kid would be working their ass off to repay me!! And yes it would be hard to find a job wtih my foot shoved up their ass!!
Guess CVHS is going to be doing some recruiting for their football team this year!!

35 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:02 pm

To Miss priss. 2 were from clayton.

36 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Save your bandwidth, Herc Pardi couldn’t care less. He is a senior citizen punk himself, setting the example as a coach to the kids he comes in contact with. I have NEVER heard an opposing coach belittle an athlete from another team face to face until I stood on the 50 yard line and heard Pardi go after a playmaker on another team, just trying to get him rattled. The profanity and vulgarity he used to address this student athlete was shameful. Unfortunately, my experience with a particular CV baseball coach isn’t much different, but that’s for a different thread.

I’m not saying the decisions these kids made are Pardi’s fault, but what I am saying is that I doubt he’ll care or do much about it. If the kids are athletes, they’ll play, if they’re benchwarmers, he’ll make an example out of them and act as if he has some moral authority. It’s always been all about Herc Pardi, the kids are just a nuisance on his own personal road to glory.

37 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:06 pm

If my kid was jumped by these assholes, I would be consulting an attorney for a civil suit to cover the emotional and physical trauma.

38 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Were these kids on Varity or JV?

39 Ian July 14, 2010 at 12:11 pm

miss priss,
Maybe. But hopefully, they will be in juvi long enough to not be able to attend CVHS ever again. GED’s for these kids.

40 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:12 pm

“Something that makes them feel embarrassed.:

These are rich Clayton punks– they are above being embarassed. It will be a badge of honer that they got booked when they go back to CVHS– as long as they play ball & get the girls –that is all that matters.

41 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Hey Miss Priss, I bet it was your kid huh?

42 Truth Squad July 14, 2010 at 12:20 pm

10,762 people in clayton, 1.12% black, 26.5% under the age of 18 and 4.5% from 18 to 24, and 49% male. This means there are only 19 black males under 24 that live in Clayton. Let’s assume only a third of those are in the ‘late teen’ age range that was described which brings our list of suspects to eight… in an entire city! These have got to be the dumbest criminals on the face of the earth! They should be locked up for their stupidity!
If you’re black and live in Clayton, better leave the ‘hood behind you.

43 auntigommy July 14, 2010 at 12:24 pm

We need to change some laws too. The kids who commit crimes, need to have their names published so our kids know to stay away from them!

44 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:25 pm

You mean it wasn’t some pittsburgh thugs or south of the border illegals?

45 Football Dad July 14, 2010 at 12:29 pm

I hope cooler heads prevail. I would hate for the entire team to be punished because a few guys made an error in judgment. Hopefully they return the property so we can get this behind us before the season starts.

46 Me July 14, 2010 at 12:30 pm

Clayton Valley Football Players?? Hmmmm rob Clayton Valley students and think noone will recognize them? Can you say “dumb jock”? First of all stupid move on all their parts to do this but even more stupid to do it in your own backyard. Duah!

47 Anon July 14, 2010 at 12:30 pm

For everyone that bashes the police department, Great Job Clayton PD! I hope these thugs get a whole lot more than a slap on the wrist. I also agree with #37. I think a civil suit is absolutely deserving as well.

48 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Mr. MAYOR:”We can not reveal the suspects name or other info that would identify them in the public.”..Then WHY DID YOU or WOULD YOU ALLOW COMMENTS BEING POSTED by readers w/2 alleged NAMES in the other thread?

49 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:32 pm

Now Now, don’t start jumping on Miss Priss, her name say’s it all. B*tch!!!

50 A July 14, 2010 at 12:38 pm

How about we cut off a hand for each individual involved and shove that up their ass! Or maybe we could stone them to death as they do in Iran.

51 ClaytonGal July 14, 2010 at 12:44 pm

Always needing to BLAME someone

BLAME the kids for being stupid. They made a choice and now they are caught.

They Varsity coaches and Pat Middendorf have been wonderful to my son.
It is not their fault or the parents of the kids fault that these kids did this.

52 NoLongerAmusing July 14, 2010 at 12:49 pm

#28 and #37 – you both highlighted something I wanted to point out – this wasn’t a simple grab, or crime of opportunity. These bullies had to get in someone’s face to do this, repeatedly. Not ‘spur of the moment’ stuff – premeditated. Saying the parents or kids should reimburse the victims is only part of it – committing a crime up close and personal takes a different mind set, and that indicates a bigger problem.

53 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 12:50 pm

I’m laughing in the faces of all the Clayton residents who thought these thugs were all Concord kids!! HAHAHA! oh, btw, just to make you feel even better about yourself: gossip spreads fast around these parts and we’ll all know who they are. Ah, the joys of living in a small town where everybody gossips, especially Clayton kids. Clayton parents – wake up! – not all your kids are exactly angels.

54 PK July 14, 2010 at 12:53 pm

For those of you that have issues with jocks, get a clue ! Almost every “jock” at CV is a really dedicated kid that works his/her but off to play the sport that they are involved in as well as being students. Grow up and shame on you for grouping these kids together with the morons that committed these crimes. By the way I am all for punishing, publicly embarrassing, and locking the guilty up.

55 Wonder women July 14, 2010 at 1:02 pm

This was assault and battery & some type of strong armed robbery premeditated. I would hope they are sent to byron for atleast 3 years and all the parents should be sued to the fullest extent. Taking all of there belongings these people need to be made an example of that oakland and richmond type of behavior is not tolerated in our “ONCE” nice community. Im not racist but ever since more black people moved here CONCORD is just not the same.

The proof is on the scanner every night and here on claycord. 100% fact go back to where you came from please leave the nice cities alone you are not welcome nor wanted anywhere around here. PERIOD

56 an July 14, 2010 at 1:02 pm

Remember ClaytonGal: Kids will be kids… So be it! Oh my! Shame on them.

How about todays thugs could be tomorrows killers!

Of course not all football players are “bad”. But these boys belong in Juvie. They jump pre-teens, pound on them and steal from them. What would they have done if someone had resisted?

What would you say if one of the kids that got assaulted and robbed had been Your kid? Oh my! Shame on them.

57 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Clayton valley kids are worseless.

58 Anon July 14, 2010 at 1:05 pm

@GoGo Gomez (#23) – LOL!!! totally agree.

59 Anon July 14, 2010 at 1:05 pm

Looks like these punks all get a strike (strong arm robbery is a violent crime) and face a minimum of 2 years (which would almost certainly be suspended for probation unless they have priors). These kids are all about 17 years old committing serial, premeditated violent crimes. They should (and hopefully will) be tried as adults. Even with probation they will have a felony criminal record for a LONG time. What their parents or the school decides to do to these clowns is the least of their worries.

60 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:08 pm

Not all “jocks” are bad, however, these guys need to be banned from playing any other sport for CV. These were not “typical” teenager style pranks, but instead, pre-meditated acts of violence. Even my 5-year-old would know better than to do what they did. Good job to the police and the tipper(s).

61 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Football Dad -

REALLY?? So you think these guys should be able to play because it will hurt the team if they don’t? You think returning the property will make it all better? What about the fear that 11 year old kid is going to have from being jumped by 3 or 4 teenagers? You are a piece of work. More worried about a high school football team then the victims of these VIOLENT crimes. Get a life… Quit living vicariously through your high school sons. Your post explains why these kids are the way they are. Because in the end… football is most important to some people.

62 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:17 pm

That was from teh police statement… and the police can not reaveal their names. It is not illegal for the media to release the names if they find out who the kids are some other way. Too bad you took the comments down Mayor. They deserve to have their names blasted on here.

64 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:19 pm

If these kids don’t get locked up in prison for a couple of years then the justice system in Clayton is a joke.

65 Me July 14, 2010 at 1:20 pm

I didn’t mean jocks were bad. My child was a 10 sport varsity letter winner and was considered a jock. I said “dumb jock” to describe these four and that is exactly what they are.

66 #62 July 14, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Sorry Mayor… I tried to take out that last sentence. I forgot the names were on another post, not this one.

67 JC July 14, 2010 at 1:21 pm

We should follow up in September. I think all 4 will be playing football as well. Herc is in it for Herc and if can find a way to play them he will. Just like Ralston – several boys were caught drinking at the JR prom. This was swept under the carpet.

68 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:22 pm

Football Dad unfortunately represents the attitude of a large portion of the parents of athletes at CV. (not all, I said a large portion) Every school has them, but in my experience CV has more than their share. The MT and YV kids know if they make these choices they are off the team for good, in some respect due to the fact that their parents are not involved at all and can’t/won’t come to their defense. At CV, many parents are an activist for their kid and demand he/she get special treatment.

Strange that over the years on Claycord it seems that CV has by far the worst reputation in regard to negative stories affecting our community. One would think that MT and YV are tantamount to state penitentiaries, yet the drugs, arsons, beatings, robberies, canceled proms and cheating scandals seem to emanate from Alberta Way….

69 an July 14, 2010 at 1:25 pm

Football Dad: Oh yeah, lets get them all cleaned up before the next season begins. That’ll teach them a lesson. You think they should have to “give back” the stuff so we can get all of this behind us? “ERROR IN JUDGEMENT”??? Yeah–at least FIVE TIMES IN NINE DAYS!!!!

Will the little kids that got beat on feel better? Do you think they will sleep better, and feel safer walking in their own pristine little town, and ‘get it all behind them’ when they see their iPod again?

Jock Sh$t talking Jock Sh$t.

70 Hello Miss Priss!!!! July 14, 2010 at 1:31 pm

Where is Miss Priss comments now?

71 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Just because the attend Clayton Valley High doesn’t mean they live close by. I’ll bet some are from as far away as Vallejo, Oakland, San Francisco.
They just use relatives addresses that live in the school area.

72 kick them out July 14, 2010 at 1:35 pm

do we think that the AD, or Coach(s) had NO idea that these kids acted this way, please! bring them all into account!

73 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:36 pm

My son was one of those kids, who got jumped, if any other parents out there would like to start a civil suit, I like to talk to them, I want those Punks to pay, I want their parents to pay for their son’s cowardliness, to attack young kids, beat them and steal from them. They need to learn that there are laws, and no one is above them.

74 old school July 14, 2010 at 1:38 pm

where is AJ Hanson when you need him, he would kick some butt!

75 concord mom July 14, 2010 at 1:39 pm

Hey Football Dad– You are ridiculous if you think these boys should get the privelage of playing high school sports. Doesn’t matter if it happened at school or not. These boys should NOT be allowed to play again or even return to CVHS. Some of the kids they jumped attend CVHS. How about their feelings? It isn’t all about sports. Those kids made a VERY BAD decision. They are going to have reprocussions. I HIGHLY doubt that Pat or the football coach will allow them back or at least I hope not!!!
Returning the stuff is NOT going to fix the problem or clean up what they have done.
And for the record, I do not blame the parents. Teens are tough ones at times. However what the parents do from here will say alot about them!!

76 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:40 pm

Football Dad- Others have said it, but I just want to echo that this is not just a “boys will be boys” thing. They threatened and intimidated younger kids.

I say keep them on the team as towel and water boys.

77 The Mamba July 14, 2010 at 1:41 pm

I really hope these guys aren’t given the opportunity to play sports or attend their high school again. Dirt bags like this don’t deserve the privilege.

78 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Does anyone think that maybe this was done in collaboration with the women’s soccer team (the sweater stealers)?

Maybe these groups work together to run a criminal enterprise in Clayton, sort of a mob kind of thing?

Would be good to know if any businesses and or individuals are having to pay “protection” money to these CVHS athletic teams.

79 aunti July 14, 2010 at 1:43 pm

We need to change the laws quickly to have anyone arrested for a crime, no matter their age, have their names listed. I want to know the names. I don’t want my kids associating with criminals!

80 ANON July 14, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Clayton residents are always quick to judge. And all this your flag my flag crap. Who cares??? Clayton Does.

81 Dana Hills Have Eyes July 14, 2010 at 1:46 pm

In this small town, names will known quickly. If I was a parent of one of these p.o.s. I would start packing my bags. You and your p.o.s. kids are not welcome here in Clayton.

82 concord mom July 14, 2010 at 1:52 pm

Hopefully the parents of the kids do the right thing and do NOT bail them out of trouble!!

83 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:52 pm

Mad Mom where are you? This is your home town.

84 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 1:53 pm

My son knows one of the kids who was jumped. He saw him right after it happened just outside Oakhurst CC. The victim was covered in dirt and bushes, having been thrown in the bushes after the robbery. It was very frightening and upsetting to everyone. The victim lost his ipod, but the attack was something he will never forget. A lot of people lost a sense of safety because of these thugs – they should be off the football team for sure. Other kids should learn that if they do something of this nature, they will face lots of consequences – ones that really mean something to them

85 Hey Boys, Who Ya Gonna Call? July 14, 2010 at 1:54 pm

———————DEEP POCKETS!

86 Eye on the MDUSD Board July 14, 2010 at 1:59 pm

Everyone write to the MDUSD board and ask them to ensure that these thugs are not allowed to play sports or participate in other extra cirricular activities at CVHS.

Based on various comments and recent past history the administration and coaches at CVHS are already trying to cover this one up, I’m sure.

87 billybob July 14, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Wow, a lot of built up angst in here. Yes, some boys screwed up. What they did is pretty unforgivable. Hopefully, they get punished. To catagorize all athletes as “dumb jocks” is pretty stupid in itself. They didn’t do this because they are “dumb jocks.” High school has always been full of clicks. Stupid stuff like this could have easily been done by skaters, stoners, mods, etc. Clayton is not full of a “bunch of rich kids” either. You’ll find that stupid behavior like this happens in every city. Don’t be so ignorant & quit holding onto bad experience from high school. Who knows, maybe you deserved it!

88 Clayton Resident July 14, 2010 at 2:07 pm

I want to thank the Clayton Police Department for catching these criminals. I’ve always felt our officers are top notch.

89 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 2:10 pm

I agree that they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and that a civil suit should be filed on behalf of the victims. These were violent, repetitive robberies, not just crimes of opportunity. Lots of evil premeditation and planning on the part of the kids. Because of this, they should also be tried as adults. Clayton needs to send a message that this s**t won’t be tolerated.

90 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 2:12 pm

#71- the cctimes story states that they arrested suspect #1 (the one that rolled on his pussy friends) as he arrived home in Clayton after football practice. They found a black Mustang in the driveway with a confirmed partial plate number given to them by a victim.

At least HE is a Clayton resident, and I would guess the others are Clayton or Concord residents too since they did this together.

91 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 2:13 pm

#86- Seriously? Now we want the board to intervene in something that didn’t happen on school property or during school hours? We are ceding too much responsibility to our schools when they are barely functioning as is. This is not their issue.

Get real. Maybe THE PARENTS should be the one who change their kids extracurricular activities. Perhaps working at a soup kitchen or Monument Crisis Center after school might give them perspective.

92 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 2:16 pm

PAT MIDDENDORF, Athletic Director at Clayton Valley HS:
You are retiring soon, do the right thing and deny these kids any after school privileges. The courts will figure their punishment, but at least you can send a message from the top on down to the incoming freshmen, representing their school is something held for kids that show respect and citizenship. Tell Herc to go pound sand, LEAD by example.

93 concordpride July 14, 2010 at 2:16 pm

hey where all the clayton parents that released the names of the 2 concord baseball players caught with drugs on campus???? I guess kids have a right to privacy when they have enough money. I hope you waste the remaining equity in your homes defending your theiving bullying kids. My guess is this is all swept under the rug by the CV admin…I mean Pat’s girls soccer did get off easy and the girls softball player caught drunk at prom was allowed to practice with the team… but again if you paid yoru contribute to play and are an entitled brat you have more right to participate in athletics than poor kids from other schools.

You are comparing kids hanging out in front of Luckys with kids assualting children?

I don’t think there is a comaprision to hanging out and assualting someone.

But, I guess you do….very interesting.

From the Clayton Valley HS web site:
“We believe that participation in athletics provides an opportunity to learn and demonstrate the ideals of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and good citizenship.”

96 Thunderdome July 14, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Football Dad:
I’m starting to doubt that your post is real. No one could be stupid enough to think that this should be cleaned up prior to football season so that these guys can “help your son’s team”. This wasn’t some victimless crime like drinking in public or trespassing. This was a pattern of serious attacks in group fashion against younger individuals minding their own business.

Targeting, assaulting and robbing 5 different children over a 9 day period is disgusting. These punks clearly have no sense of conscience or accountability for their actions. Furthermore, It is morons like you who propagate this kind of behavior by downplaying it and dismissing it for the sake of your kid’s football team. What they did is cowardly behavior. I wouldn’t want any of them on my team!

97 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 2:59 pm

Hey boys,

Don’t drop the soap!! I hope Karma gives it to you big time.

98 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:04 pm

These punks need to be expelled from the school district. They are criminals…point blank!

Send them to the Byron boys ranch and let them complete their education there.

One of my kids will be attending CV next year and this is exactly the kind of trash that we need to clean up in this area…I DONT GIVE A DAMN WHAT COLOR YOU ARE…if you start trouble and committ crimes, you should be outed.

The entire community should voice their displeasure with their families until they can’t bear it anymore and decide to leave and take their riff raff with them.

99 an July 14, 2010 at 3:05 pm

ClaytonGal: No, I didn’t mention the Lucky Store. I was comparing your attitude to your attitude. It seems to have a consistent ring to it with an apparent blind eye toward both bratty kids and bratty kids turned thugs.

102 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:20 pm

#28 – Are you kidding? Do you know Herc or Pat? They will probably fight to keep these boys on the team. Besides what they did, they did outside of school so it cannot affect what school activities they take part in. Heck, the soccer girls didn’t even get kicked off the soccer team for stealing from another team during a game!

I wonder what parents think who go out of their way to use false addresses, and who even demand an interdistrict transfer to send their kids to CV. Lockers are broken into every day, a storage shed is set on fire, drunk girls and baseball players at Junior Prom, girls soccer stealing from another team, and now this – and you ask for your kid to go to this school? I’m not seeing this kind of behavior at the other high schools. I know someone is going to say that CV is getting picked on, poor CV! CV Administration needs to get their act together!

103 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:21 pm

I hope #73 can unite with the parents of the other victims and successfully start a lawsuit that will wreak absolute havoc on the muggers and their families for years to come. Further, I hope the entire Clayton community ostracizes ALL members of the perps’ families to the point that they move out. After all, all the warning signs were there with these punks beforehand, and the parents did not take appropriate corrective action.

Oh, and Football Dad, if you’re sincere, please find a short pier and take a long walk.

105 ME July 14, 2010 at 3:30 pm

Off topic but the one that was arrested was arrested “after football practice”. Is this legal by NCS rules? Should they be practicing already?

106 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:34 pm

UGLY UGLY Eagles
Nice 17 year old footballers smackin around 11 year old kids walkin alone. The kid from $$$ Clayton actually said the victims were chosen because they were walkin alone. Geez it’s summer that what little kids do walk to their friends house.
When the house was searched their was a stash of i-phones and i-pods alot more than from the 5 little kids jumped in Clayton. Coach Pardi says this is out of his hands (no comment) Pat’s not available. The Dad of the kid that lives in Clayton thinks this is much ado about nothin. Well ya know what if that’s the case ALL concerned need to contact ALAN YOUNG / asst. sup @ MDUSD. He is in charge of of Athletic Dept’s in district. NO ABSOLUTELY NOT, DO NOT ALLOW THESE FOOTBALLERS GET AWAY WITH THIS!!!

107 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:49 pm

Practice ok. No pads yet. Practice was over at 6:00. Johnny Rocket showed up at 8:30. Rolled in his shiny black mustang to his parents mc mansion in Clayton. Undercover cop drove by like 3 times before that. Trust me if you guys knew this kid’s dad…. Well lest just say….. Not the nicest guy at the country club. Looks down on everybody and never stops talkin about what a great athlete his kid is. Last night he acted like it was all some big misunderstanding.

108 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 3:52 pm

ME,

CVHS athletics have never and I mean never played by the rules. Why would you expect them to start now?

109 Peacock Creek July 14, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Yes, warning signs. This is the result of the parents failing to raise their kids in an acceptable fashion.

Google has some gems from the prime suspect:

“Sometimes phrase they use when a guy says I love you, he just says it because he thinks it’s what the girl wants to hear. Or the guy says it because he thinks that if the girl loves him back, he will be able to get some action from her. When asked, Suspect #1, a ninth grader at Clayton Valley High School, said, “As long as the girl is putting out she can tell me she loves me or whatever.””

What a class act!

AN July 14, 2010 at 3:05 PM 99

You copied and pasted something I wrote regarding the “Luckys store” kids. Which has nothing to do with these kids that assualted people.

And, just because I don’t pass BLAME onto anyone other than the kids that have does this assualts doesn’t mean I have a “Blind Eye”

I blame the kids for making the WRONG choice….I don’t blame the coaches, teachers or families. The coaches, teachers and families I am sure didn’t say “go be a thug and hurt some young kids today”.

We are all responsible for the choices we make in this life.
and these kids have made some really bad choices.

111 just me July 14, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Some of you need to back off and think about what you’re saying. As a proud former Ugly Eagle who lettered 6x’s I take pride in CV. It pains me to see the name of the school being dragged through the mud like this. But, let me ask you this does it matter what school the “punks” attended? Not really they commited a crime enough said. Why are you battering the AD and Coach at CV? I know Herc and have had many dealings with him and he was nothing but up front and honest with me. He has brought pride back to Clayton Valley football, how many remember how low the team had sunk? Do you honestly think he told these kids to go out and steal things NO and if you do……your just plain dumb. There are several thousand students at CV many of which are student athletes, because 4 of them did something really stupid doesn’t mean the entire group is bad. I think more blame should be laid at the foot of the parents of these 4 “students” a coach and AD don’t have control of what their athletes are doing 24/7. Some of you need to get off your high horse and come back to reality, 4 kids SCREWED UP not an entire football team or Athletic Dept.

112 Dad Of a CV Jr. July 14, 2010 at 4:16 pm

As the parent of a Clayton football player, I don’t want my son anywhere near these thugs. If they are allowed to play I will be calling for the immediate resignation of the Head football coach & the AD, by you no longer show responsible leadership. If this is swept under the carpet the victims of these thugs’ crimes will never feel safe at high school again. Stand up parents and be heard, we can no longer let the bad behavior be ignored

113 Lari July 14, 2010 at 4:24 pm

#73, I’m sorry your son was mugged. From what I understand, the victims were 3-4 years younger than the perps (and as we all know, in terms of height and strength, that’s a big difference). I hope your son is OK and the punk muggers are prosecuted fully. What cowards to pick on younger kids like this.

114 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 4:26 pm

#104, no one is blaming Clayton Valley, the AD or coaches for the act itself. Obviously they had no knowledge or part in it. What they ARE blaming them for is their poor response to situations. They don’t hold the students accountable. That’s the point people are making.

115 Me July 14, 2010 at 4:28 pm

Know one is saying ALL of CVHS’s student athletes are bad or the athletic department. What we are saying is that these 4 student / athletes should be banned from the sports program. You understand right? Keep wearing the jacket with pride old dude!

117 Teens are inherently stupid July 14, 2010 at 4:33 pm

If these kids are tried as adults we could loose them forever to the prison system and does anybody really want that? Even the lock em all up types will be bitch’n about how much money it will cost. I’m not advocating letting them off they need to held responsible and punished – but they are NOT adults.

120 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 4:35 pm

Just me- Nobody has said it is Herc’s or Pat’s fault. What they are saying is that these kids should not be given another chance to represent your beloved alma mater. Our concern is that the prior fact pattern shows that Pat and other CV coaches have turned a blind eye to bad behavior for the sake of their athletic programs. This breeds (pun intended) Michael Vicks (dogs), Kobe Bryants (rape), Tiger Woods (you know), Ben Roethlisbergers(close to rape), etc., etc., etc.

Treating athletes differently is the problem, and your old school is well known for it. THAT’S the issue.

121 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Pat and the rest of CVHS Admin will do NOTHING to these kids. They let the scum girls soccer players stay on the team – and those girls still think it was no big deal (stealing, being drunk). Dad and Pat to the rescue.

This is not something that happend on school, during school hours or even during school time. When did the School & School District become controller over our lives and our kids lives. The kids should be held responsible for their actions according to the law!

124 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 4:47 pm

They should not be able to play sports because they should be in juvenile hall.

You were kidding, right? You think that returning the property will correct this?
Maybe the victims should decide if they should be allowed to play.
They need help. I really hope you are not one of their fathers. I wonder if you would feel this way if it was your child who was attacked.

128 ME July 14, 2010 at 4:57 pm

This is the problem with our public school system. If it doesn’t happen at school the thought is the school can’t do anything. Well you can damn well be sure that if these were De La Salle football players they would be expelled. It doesn’t matter if it happened at school, during school or not. They expect a certain time of young man and they are not protected their parents money or politicians or school boards. If my child were attending CVHS next year I wouldn’t want those boys to be there. Geez they assaulted and robbed kids for no reason other than they “shouldn’t have been walking alone with their IPOD on”? PLEASE people!

129 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 4:58 pm

The kids (athletes!) committed assault, battery and theft on SMALL CHILDREN. This makes them criminals not to mention disgustingly pathetic bullies.

They should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, this is the only way to hopefully save them from a lifetime of criminal behavior. Those who accept and have the audacity to defend this type of behavior are raising their own kids to be just like these little thugs.

134 Man in Tan July 14, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Why all the talk about the school or district doing any sort of restrictions or punishment? Let the parents start being parents and keep track of their kids. All parents need to take responsibility for their offspring. I hope the Mustang and Escalade etc must be sold to make restitution to the victims. The parents of these junior thugs are getting a wake up call. If any other parents out there are depending on the public school system to raise your kids or teach them values…. well, Good Luck with that. Try taking them to church.

135 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 5:12 pm

# 117 I bet if it was your kid who got attacked, punched and traumatized, you be singing a different song.
I say try convict and punish these Thugs to the full extend of law so it be a lesson to future thugs, that no one is above the Law, also not only from sports but they should be expelled from the CV altogether. Since most of the Victim will be going to CV High, and for them to run in to these thugs would further their dramatizations.

Short answer: YES

BTW – What does the kid with a mustang’s dad do for a living? Everyone makes him out to be very affluent with how they describe him. The only person with enough money to truly look down his nose (and I doubt he does) at people in Clayton is the paisano living on the hill.

I am reading these posts and embarrassed that some people just feel the need to stand around pointing fingers and staking claims on whose town is better etc., when we have several victims suffering the consequences of these boys’ actions! Instead of standing around blaming the school district, the coaches at CVHS, etc. etc., just stop and realize that crime happens and even though we are blessed to have one of the lowest crime rates in California, crime still exists and we all have to be aware and protect our safety and that of our children.

Our family fell victim to crime in February of 2006 when my 18 year old son left a CVHS basketball game to walk to Albertson’s (now Lucky) on Clayton Road to meet up with his girlfriend and head home to dinner, Instead two seniors, one from Concord High and one from De La Salle picked him out for walking alone on his cell phone. One of them used a skateboard to beat him over the head several times sending him in by ambulance to John Muir where he spent several days in the ICU. I can tell everyone first hand what these crimes do to an entire family. Thank God my son is ok now, although he does have permanent injuries as a result. The emotional scars run deeper though.

The fact is that these crimes happened to these undeserving victims. If anyone wants to know what to do instead of blogging away with this senseless garbage, pray for the victims and their families and pray that these children will once again feel safe in their own hometown. Then take a minute and pray that justice is served to the four suspects. Hopefully they will be sentenced accordingly!

Thank you citizens of Clayton and Clayton PD for the swift actions that led to their arrests! And once again thank you to everyone that helped us through our horrible ordeal!

I ask many of you this though, how many of you have given your time to help the area schools? Have some of you that want to get mad at the coaches/AD ever coached 100-300 athletes? You can’t control any athlete 24/7 let alone when you get a helicopter parents that are watching over their kids all the time and denying when their kids do wrong. I think this has nothing to do witht he Football team outside of the fact the 4 were members of the team. If you have played sports you tend to be friends with those people. How many of you would be flipping out this same way if it had been members of the band, drama, KVHS, or field hockey? I have no problem coming down on the 4 “boys” involved but lumping in the entire sports programs at CV is out of control.

You all seem to be parents, or at least adults on here, but if I didn’t know any better I would have thought you were all in high school like the kids that have been affected.

You’re all spending your time getting your local news from this BLOG. And if that’s not bad enough, all of you distinguished adults are bickering back and forth like racist, unintelligent, ignorant people.

Now take a look inside of yourselves, YOU are all raising the youth of today… Is this really a surprise?

These criminals assulted young defensless kids. They should not be allowed back to the same school as their victims. That would open the school district up to possible court action or they will have to spend additional funds protecting the victims. They should go to trial and if convicted serve the time for the crime.

It’s funny what people think they can do that are broke and lookin for a quick buck. What he needs to do is take the time he is wasting on his words and put the time towards his son whom is obviously not being raised correctly

174 a July 14, 2010 at 7:13 pm

I agree, people going on and on I’m so happy they’re from clayton blah blah. Shouldn’t you be happy about the fact they were caught?

175 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Sports is corrupt. All anyone cares about is winning. Lie,cheat, steal, drugs, anything to win. A whole bunch of professional athletes have criminal records and they are still allowed to play sports.

176 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Great now cvhs can be called clayton prison with the new gate put around it. Haha

177 cvhs94 July 14, 2010 at 7:21 pm

thugs. dismiss them from the team and school. assualt and strong armed robbery are serious felonies. jail.

178 clayton valley student July 14, 2010 at 7:25 pm

what the boys did was wrong, we all know that. but the girls who stole the sweaters (at school) were still able to be on the soccer team & the girls who got drunk at prom(AT SCHOOL) were still able to be on the softball team. It would make absolutely NO sense to punish them differently. what they did wasn’t even on school campus or anything related to school. they shouldn’t be punished school related. I’ve been mistreated by the school multiple times, its completely unfair. they should be punished the same way the girls were .

179 no time for that dime July 14, 2010 at 7:33 pm

They won’t be going to any detention facility based on the current alleged crimes. Already too crowded and worse crimes get any space. Likely probation will be it. Not that they shouldn’t just that there is no money or system left for this type of crime/perp. Not fair. Victims were just kids. So much for innocence.

180 Groovy Grandma July 14, 2010 at 7:55 pm

May now they can start a football team at Diablo Day School where the juvenile delinquents go to school.

real quick, how on earth is this a tragedy for the criminals? I saw a picture of the house where the first arreested youth resides..he was not stealing to help his family eat or pay rent.

the only tragic side of the tale is that of those young boys attacked while walking.

before chastising those of us concerned citizens think if it was ur boy beaten and thrown into the bushes for a 100.00 ipod, think if your son had to go to school with his attackers. i doubt you would find the sad rich spoiled football players side of the story quite so tragic

182 CVHS Student July 14, 2010 at 8:00 pm

Hey everyone lay off. Here at CVHS athletics are what is crackin’. All these guys have to do is have one of their powerful daddies talk to herc and pat and all is well. Just look at what the girls soccer and softball teams have gotten away with. This ain’t nothing. Stop being haters you douchebag adults.

183 anonamom July 14, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Moneypenny: These boys gang banged on individual preteens, hit them over the head, apparently at least once with a bottle, knocked them down…

Sweep streets, mow lawns? Really now. You’re just too soft.

At the very least they should have to go to a military style camp for a year to learn some self respect; which is the ingredient they are lacking most.

184 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 8:05 pm

these are just a bunch of geto black kids who have nothing better to do. and their is a good saying ” can take the black out of the geto but cant take the geto out of the black” which is a good saying

185 slippy July 14, 2010 at 8:07 pm

Most of you worried about where they are from are trolls. Regardless of where you live…..a creep is a creep. Stop calling out your stupid zip codes and focus on justice. I hope these kids get everything they deserve. I would also like to see if the police reclaimed some of my property.

186 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 8:07 pm

clayton valley student. The difference here is they were violent towards another person. They can’t be at the same school as their victims. They will need to go to another school. The parents of the victims will insist for the their kids safety.

187 c'mon son! July 14, 2010 at 8:11 pm

Let’s be real…
1) obviously what these kids did was terrible and they should pay for it.
2) CVHS sports programs shouldn’t be slandered for this incident, theses kids actions had nothing to do with the coaches or any of the other players.
3) being drunk at a high school ball is something that eveyone does, and many kids are caught for it, however you only hear about the ones who play sports, like they should know better… c’mon son, they are all just kids doing dumb stuff and having fun. Just because you play sports doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time like the rest of your classmates.
3) the Clayton P.D. is terrible… they have nothing better to do than drive around town breaking up miniscule house parties, and pulling people over for no reason, hoping to find a reason to write them up. I mean honestly, I know calling for backup is important in Richmond or Oakland, but does it really take 6 cop cars to detain one little kid, or to write one fix it ticket? They never have any real police work to do so they try to blow the tiniest things out of proportion, Haha they are a joke!

188 c'mon son! July 14, 2010 at 8:16 pm

Father of a nobody, I mean Superstar haha.. you are a joke nobody cares about your blackbelt son and your 80K fighting cage.. sign your son up for a real sport so he stops getting pick on at school!

189 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 8:17 pm

At least they will still be Eagles, now they are Mt Mckinnley Eagles in Juvenile Hall. Enjoy wearing each others underwear ..

190 To Clayton Valley Student July 14, 2010 at 8:29 pm

@178: Please think. The girl thieves should have had more punishment, and maybe should not have been allowed to participate in sports or other extracurricular activities . But their sneaky-bitch stealing is a very different thing than physical assault/and/gang-banging on kids.

191 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Crimes like this really affect the victims, more than you know unless you’ve been a victim. It’s not a joke and it’s not just about Clayton Valley. The reason people get so upset is that these bullies are probably from privileged families and have no empathy. If it were my son I would pull him out of football and take all privileges from him he could spend the next couple of years working soup kitchens and homeless shelters.
To tell you the truth I think bulling is a learned behavior and I am sure their parents are only ashamed that they got caught.
Be careful who coaches and teaches your kids. Get to know their coaches and teachers don’t assume because they have a degree or a winning team that they have any moral code of conduct.

192 Chris July 14, 2010 at 8:36 pm

These punks will probably get probation since they are under 18.

Not sure how juvenile crimes are prosecuted. But, anyone who lives above a country club and lives in an almost 4,000 sq.ft house probably has enough money and balls to get their kid the least possible punishment.

193 anonamom July 14, 2010 at 8:52 pm

196 Remove the apple, not the tree July 14, 2010 at 9:14 pm

From the Clayton Valley HS web site:
“We believe that participation in athletics provides an opportunity to learn and demonstrate the ideals of academic excellence, sportsmanship, and good citizenship.”

So true!
My dumb jock lettered in three sports. He graduated with a 3.8 GPA, volunteered at various events in the community helping seniors, the environment and numerous organizations.

So please do not think the actions of the 4 students represent the real UGLY!

To all whom want to hold the coaches responsible for the actions of the thugs: give me a break!

Coach Reno, Casani, Coakley Sr., Beamlander, Relei, McCoy, Hill, and … Thank You for investing so much of your personal time at CVHS. You made a difference in my kid’s life. He is and will be a productive member of our community. GO UGLY

197 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 9:20 pm

36 – tell me about the baseball coach please ….. on a different thread if the Mayor will allow….

198 Anon July 14, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Rita Williams, I just saw your story on the KTVU website. Its interesting that you are placing CVHS in Clayton. Its in CONCORD fool get it right! Just look at your map and do your homework when you come out this way once a year!

199 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 9:25 pm

My son played for Garaventa for the Clayton Valley Falcons. Doesn’t play football anymore but I was considering getting an intradistrict transfer because my son is a good at other sports. If this is what Clayton Valley has become, my son will stay where he is….

200 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 9:38 pm

#81 SHUT UP. You act like you never did anything wrong when you were younger. YES parents need to be held responsible, but they can’t watch them 24/7. Kids do stupid things, get over yourself. No one is going to move, get over it. And this “blog” does need to be sued, you know why? Because you need watch what is posted. Someone’s street does not need to be advertised here, they are JUVENILE’S who did this, and private information about them is not legally supposed to go public. I hope that Dad does sue your butt. You allow way too much to to be posted on here that should not be. Private information, racist comments, etc…. This site needs to be shut down.

201 ClaytonGal July 14, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Does everyone really think these kids are really going back to school?

I would think that they would be in Juvi until the court date.

And if not….I can’t believe there parent would send them back to CVHS.

202 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I lettered zero times. In the late 60s, jocks were self centered jerks and arrogant bullies.
Just remember what county were in, the one with the do nothing DA.

203 C July 14, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I wish I had a Mustang at 17, lived in a big house, in a beautiful and usually safe community. I also wish I had no supervision and parents who showered me with everything I wanted. I also wish I was as gangsta as those manufactured hip-hop videos that the music industry produces.

Is there a law prohibiting listing the violent offenders? Most people know two of them already and those previous pictures were enough to find out names and addresses etc.

One big problem is these parents just can’t believe that their own crap stinks.

204 Somebody picked #196 up by the tail July 14, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Grrrrrrrrr.

205 Anonymous July 14, 2010 at 9:59 pm

I really do not see why people want to trash CV athletes because of a few bad apples. Theres bad kids on every high school team and alot of good kids too. Great job catching these thugs.

206 #196 was moved to #200 July 14, 2010 at 9:59 pm

and one that wasn’t even posted yet became 196.

207 anon July 14, 2010 at 10:03 pm

How stupid and lazy are these kids parents? Didn’t they notice a pile of ipods, etc. in their own homes, so much for being in touch with your kids. This is where the problem started.
