Does Walnut Creek also have an annual day for something like this?

San Francisco used to (and yeah, I think people used to drive around looking for “found goodies” in the things left outside), but over time, the city switched to a by-appointment system, with residents being limited to two (I think) big pickup days per year.

Woo-hoo!!! Big Trash Day!!!
Big Trash Day was awesome in Piedmont a million years ago in the early 90’s. People there threw out new furniture because it didn’t go with their remodel. I doubt it’ll be that choice out here nowadays, but you never know. Someone might skip the research and throw out something prime. Just don’t be an ass, fellow scroungers. Leave the citizens’ stuff piled up after you peruse. It only takes a minute. Oh, and Suzy Homeowner? Don’t bother calling the po-po. It was your lack of vision made you throw the stuff out in the first place. The cops won’t care that you think recyling/repurposing is unsightly.

Those of you that’ll sneer at people like me who’ll check out furniture and clothing that you’d throw out? Enjoy that feeling of superiority. After all, you did pay for it.

No sneering at people who re-purpose things, just ticks me off when they rip open trash bags, dump them on the ground and walk away…if it’s not bagged up the trash guys aren’t going to touch it. Now we don’t put bagged things out until the morning.

and yes, Walnut Creek has it twice a year – Fall and Spring (last one was in April)
